dubq Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I don't think he can control that. I read somewhere that he's got some dead nerve endings in part of his lip or something. That said, he's still a terrible actor. Also, did I miss them saying who the mother to Sylar's kid was?
Black Lushus Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Well then, I shouldn't knock the guy for a handicap...though it still annoys the hell out of me.
starvenger Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Also, did I miss them saying who the mother to Sylar's kid was? No, you did not. But based on who's on the series, you're left with Elle, Maya or, um, Trikki(?) as your candidates.
Black Lushus Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 At what point does Peter stop acting like a bleeding vagina and start growing a pair? Four years isn't that far away and his future self is hardened enough to where the transformation isn't an overnight thing. He's been lame for 3 seasons now!
Lord of The Curry Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 They also could've taken a step or two in explaining exactly WHY Peter is considered a terrorist in the future. And yeah, I like many of you have been wondering if this show is going to be a continual loop of "Save the World, Go to the Future" over and over again. Is the message here that no matter what something bad is going to happen?
starvenger Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Well, let's see. Nathan is Prez? yep. Guy explodes at some point? Yep. Peter and Hiro go from pussies to bad asses? Yep. So, yeah. Do we call this Groundhog Days of Future Past or something now?
Black Lushus Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Oh yeah, I forgot about Hiro becomming a bad ass as well...it's like, WHEN? Maybe he doesn't now that they changed a few things and hence Ando was able to kill him off somewhere down the road?
Lord of The Curry Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Another thing that didn't make sense is the whole "formula to transform everybody" storyline. Are we to assume that Mama Petreli and Co. don't know that Mohinder has already figured it out? Or is this another formula entirely?
Black Lushus Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Maybe his father had the other half, which is what Suresh was working off of...the half that DOESN'T tell you how to counteract the bad shit that's happening to him? I dunno, just throwing shit out there...I honestly cant recall how he got his serum to begin with.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Mohinder figured out that all it would take is a modification of the adrenal glands to activate peoples abilities- basically saying we all have it in us, we just need the formula to activate it which is EXACTLY what Hiro's dad told him about and what Scar Peter showed Present Peter. Now that I think about it if they're made out to be seperate stories that's going to be even more confusing.
dubq Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 The coolest part of this season so far, for me, was when Hiro saw himself and Ando in the future arguing over the formula and then Ando fries him with a red-ass raiden style fireball. Good shit.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Agreed. I say we find out next episode that Mohinder has killed the wife-beater accidentally but it starts him down the dark path.
starvenger Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Another thing that didn't make sense is the whole "formula to transform everybody" storyline. Are we to assume that Mama Petreli and Co. don't know that Mohinder has already figured it out? Or is this another formula entirely? Yes, because Mohinder reverse engineered the formula. And then like a good comic-book character he tried the damn thing on himself.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I echo the "oh great, more future stuff" comments. It's just a gimmicky way of doing risky or shocking things without any consequences. This show is rapidly losing me. I miss stuff like "Company Man."
Lord of The Curry Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Funny how all the shit that used to make us say "Fuck yeah" is making us groan and say "Awwww fuck no". Edwin nailed it, the show is basically utilizing the future episodes to jerk us around with character deaths we know won't happen and thus is taking away the legit emotion when they do die.
Ravenbomb Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Yes, "Company Man" is the apex of the show's awesomeness, and thinking back to it only highlights how bad the show is now. Even season 2 had "Cautionary Tales" which was not AS good but still had the really great scene between Noah and Elle. "Stings like a bitch, doesn't it?" Why the hell isn't Noah the focal point of the show? Even when he was thought to be the villain I was solidly behind him when he ruined the shit of the asshole jock rapist. Fuck this show for being so awesome before and now sucking so badly.
Black Lushus Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I hesitate to say it SUCKS, but it's certainly getting closer and closer to the ol shark...
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Funny how all the shit that used to make us say "Fuck yeah" is making us groan and say "Awwww fuck no". Edwin nailed it, the show is basically utilizing the future episodes to jerk us around with character deaths we know won't happen and thus is taking away the legit emotion when they do die. Which is, funny enough, the whole reason the last episode of Lost that I watched was the Kate goes on trial one. I was getting sick of flash-forwards by that point, and they're even lamer than the time travel stuff because at least with the time travel you don't actually know that's what's going to happen because they could "change the past."
Lord of The Curry Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Wait....you didn't finish the season? DUDE.
Youth N Asia Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Also a little tired of the future trips. "I gotta go to the future and stop this from happening...but by doing so this, this, and that happened instead. Now I have to go back to the past the fix this and that...but now the future is different..." It's going to be a never ending loop. Yeah, I get it, there's a few cool future moments. And they throw curveballs. "Sylar a stay at home dad? NO WAAAAAAAY!" But seriously, keep stuff in the now for a little bit. Every new future has every heroe die in a new way. First future trip Hiro dies by a gunshot, this time around it's a Ryu fireball. Next time he'll get sat on by a fat chick while sleeping on a park bench. Future badass Claire? Nah, not buying that one, thanks though. Glad to see Adam back, no one ever stays gone on this show, but I like Adam. So figuring out a watch is the secret to unlocking anyone's power? Really? And Mohinder still sucks. Not a great swerve that he wanted powers all along. What a twist! Don't get me wrong, still love the show, but just wish they wouldn't keep doing the same things over and over again.
LuckyLopez Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 So figuring out a watch is the secret to unlocking anyone's power? Really? Peter was absorbing his power from Sylar the same way he absorbs everyone's power (and presumably already had it since S1). Sylar was just using the watch to help him understand how to use it. After all, Sylar was presumably using the power for awhile without even realizing it fixing clocks and it wasn't until he met and attacked another person with powers that he realized he saw something and there was more to his skill than just good watch fixing ability. So the watch was just the project Peter had to focus his ability and figure it out, not unlike his practice sessions with Claude. Peter presumably would need to do the same thing Sylar does to look at the brain and get powers that way. But he has his own power absorbing ability so no need. Instead the power would seemingly be used to see "how things work" in general and Peter wanted it to be able to "see" the "big picture" and figure out how to save the world. Its like an internal version of the "string theory" that Hiro and Peter from the future have used to try and figure out what they have to change to "fix" the future. In the meantime he could use it to fix toasters and car engines if he needs a job. I think.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Can the Haitian not surpress Sylars powers? I've been confused since last week when Noah told him he was going to figure out Sylar's weakness and kill him. Isn't his weakness the same as Peter's? Surpress his powers. Shoot him in the fucking head.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Wait....you didn't finish the season? DUDE. Yeah, didn't you notice I stopped posting in there? It was actually more of a getting sick of it and then forgetting when it was on, and having no DVR/TiVo. I do plan on catching up though, since I heard the rest of the season was pretty solid.
Cartman Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Can the Haitian not surpress Sylars powers? I've been confused since last week when Noah told him he was going to figure out Sylar's weakness and kill him. Isn't his weakness the same as Peter's? Surpress his powers. Shoot him in the fucking head. That would work, but as soon as the hatian left he would heal the wound and be alive again.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I thought that, like they said earlier in the thread about Claire and future Peter...he would be dead until someone removed the bullet. It just seems like they could have figured this out by now. Of course...Peter can't figure out to go back in time 5 frigging seconds before something horrible happens every week...so I'll just ignore it.
2GOLD Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Can the Haitian not surpress Sylars powers? I've been confused since last week when Noah told him he was going to figure out Sylar's weakness and kill him. Isn't his weakness the same as Peter's? Surpress his powers. Shoot him in the fucking head. That would work, but as soon as the hatian left he would heal the wound and be alive again. So couldn't the hatian just stay there as you chop his body up and then burn the carcass into ash? Pretty sure if there is nothing left that he's not reforming anytime soon. I mean if they really hate and fear the guy, then they should be willing to go the extra mile to kill him. Course knowing how this show is going, Peter would go into the future and see it even worse without Sylar and they would stop his death. Or worse, a Sylar clone would be running around killing people until he basically started acting like a chill Sylar.
starvenger Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I thought that, like they said earlier in the thread about Claire and future Peter...he would be dead until someone removed the bullet. Has to be something like that. But I've seen rumours that there is a way to make sure that Claire/Peter/Adam/Gabe can die. And yeah, it's been done, but I daresay we expect all the comic/sci-fi homages on this show. It just seems like they could have figured this out by now. Of course...Peter can't figure out to go back in time 5 frigging seconds before something horrible happens every week...so I'll just ignore it. Why does that ability sound so familiar? <checks wikipedia> Flashback from Blood Syndicate? Damn, I'm old.
Black Lushus Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I thought they made it clear that removing the head is the way to go? We saw that glimpse of headless Claire a couple episodes ago. Didn't Adam mention it once or someone else mentioned it when referencing Adam?
starvenger Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I thought they made it clear that removing the head is the way to go? We saw that glimpse of headless Claire a couple episodes ago. Didn't Adam mention it once or someone else mentioned it when referencing Adam? Don't think it was definitive with Adam, because otherwise, wouldn't Hiro have done that?
Black Lushus Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Well Hiro CAN be an idiot, ya know! I dunno, I swear SOMEONE said removing the head was the only way to be sure.
