Lord of The Curry Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Makes sense that he'd play Spock.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 It depends on how the networks look at things. Heroes is second in the 18-49 demo (3.9/9) and first in the 18-34 demo (4.2/10). Overall though, they were fourth in the overnights and Dancing With the Stars is killing everything. One thing Heroes has going is that it is usually in the top three in total DVR viewers . The first three episodes a week after they had aired added 3.2, 2.9, and 2.8 million viewers respectively. This probably adds up to more product placement like the Sprint comment in the season opener to make up for losses in ad sales.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Yeah, I'm one of those DVR viewers. I hate the suspense the lead-ins to commercial breaks leave.
Youth N Asia Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I watch everything on DVR now. The Shield is really my only exception cause I seem to be doing nothing at 10 on Tuesdays
Lord of The Curry Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I've learned that DVR'ing Heroes can be dangerous because for some stupid fucking reason the Canadian station that broadcasts it runs late sometimes and I've missed the ending and had to DL it.
Youth N Asia Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 You can watch full episodes of Heroes on hulu.com. You get about 5 commercials overall, 20 seconds each...and it's the same one every time. But not bad
2GOLD Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I watch the repeats on G4 at 10 on Tuesday cause of The Shield being on at midnight on Tuesday. Bout the only thing I lose is the previews and that's not a big deal at all.
Black Lushus Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 I've learned the hard way to set my DVR about 10 minutes beyond the regular time.
starvenger Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 I've learned that DVR'ing Heroes can be dangerous because for some stupid fucking reason the Canadian station that broadcasts it runs late sometimes and I've missed the ending and had to DL it. Yes, Global sucks for stuff like that. I'm very grateful that StarChoice doesn't carry Global in HD so that Heroes isn't simsubbed.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 NBC fires Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb as executive producers of Heroes because of the low ratings the show has been getting and NBC's dislike with the direction of the show.
starvenger Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Yeah, but they've gotten everything done up until the fall finale, so it'll be interesting to see if they do any rewrites. Also, and maybe I'm in the minority here, but I thought they were getting back on track. Also, they didn't hire someone to replace them?
Youth N Asia Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 I know the ratings are down, but this season is pretty solid
Ripper Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 I think the execs and the people complaining need to go back and watch season one. this is a SLOW burn show. The show was kinda there until Company Man in season one. Season two never got a chance because of all the rewrites to make the shortened season work. Then you were left with Hiro in Japan for almost the whole year when it would have only have been a part of the year. So they have this year, started out slow, are picking it up and they fire the guys. They got one full season and they got that right, and no chance since then. Kinda some bullish.
Craig Th Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 We all know studio heads have short attention spans. They want ratings now! I think the ratings are down because people just aren't into serials. Which is a damn shame.
milliondollarchamp Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Heroes Shakeup: Inside Scoop on the Firings
Ripper Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 MORE deaths? To go along with the, what 2 series regulars that are actually killed and not brought back in some compacity? (Issac and DL....thats it). I think there is a very good chance this show goes to shit now.
starvenger Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 So let me get this straight. The EW reporter lies in order to put together a negative article on Heroes, the NBC exec read this and thus, fire the head writers? Sucks to be Loeb and Alexander. Rip, I believe the deaths of some regulars can probably be read as "NBC is cutting the budget". Also, in the article: Loeb tells me of today's news: "I'm incredibly proud to have been there from day one. I'm thrilled to be a big part of the success of the show with eight Emmy nods and a win this year for NBC.com. I will miss the superb cast and writing staff and wish everyone the best." Loeb had completed writing and producing the fall finale. It is the last episode of the Villains chapter, called "War." In an article on CBR: Sunday evening, CBR News spoke exclusively with Loeb who said, “As of today, Jesse Alexander and I have left ‘Heroes.’ I'm incredibly proud to have been a big part of the success a show with eight Emmy nods and a win this year for NBC.com. I will miss the superb cast and writing staff and wish everyone the best.” Loeb has completed writing/producing the fall finale, the last episode of the “Villains” chapter titled “War.” The first part, you could attribute to a prepared statement. The second... well, it's a bit too similar, no? Wonder who was plagarizing whom?
dubq Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 MORE deaths? To go along with the, what 2 series regulars that are actually killed and not brought back in some compacity? (Issac and DL....thats it). Holy crap I hope it's Peter and Mohinder. I fucking hate those guys.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 It'll probably be Daphne and Claire's biological mom, to ensure that the stakes stay as low as possible.
Youth N Asia Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 That sounds right. They've yet to off a MAJOR charcter. DL was semi major, and Issac while a big one, never felt like part of the core cast I thought
Lord of The Curry Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I thought Issac was pretty core. Not Claire/Peter level but still pretty big given what his paintings meant for season ones storylines.
Boon Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Arthur Petrelli is just fucking everybody up these days, eh? And now he can bend space and time. Well shit.
starvenger Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 He already could since he absorbed every power that Peter had absorbed. This was simply to ensure that Hiro could go nowhere. Well, at least until we get the deus ex of Claire/Sylar's blood healing everyone.
milliondollarchamp Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Ah I love it when they fill out mostly pointless holes in the story that have no real effect on the current plot. (I'm not being sarcastic haha.) Angela is fucking awesome. I was surprised that Meredith and Flint were actually related... I should have put two and two together, but I didn't realize it until I saw it in tonight's episode... holy shit The promo for next week gave me chills!
Lord of The Curry Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 My X-Men markdom is satisfied this week with Vietnam War Vet Collosus. This wasn't a bad episode but it was fairly pointless at times. I'm glad Sylar offed My Chemical Romance because I fucking HATED that he pointed his hand like a gun when he made shit explode.
Youth N Asia Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I was surprised that Meredith and Flint were actually related... Shouldn't be. God knows they try and connect every single character to each other. Wasn't really interested in their story I didn't like the episode, feels like nothing got done really. Glad to see the heel HRG again. I liked him better as a bad guy. Damn Haitian barely gets more than a cameo anymore
Lord of The Curry Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I liked how Arthur turned around during dinner, noticed him but just kept eating. Nothing in the way of "Hey, honey? Why is there a mute black dude standing behind me while I eat?"
Guest Vitamin X Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 I always mark out for the Haitian. I didn't think much of last night's (actually two nights ago, but I saw it yesterday thanks to DVR) episode, especially considering this was after a one-week break. It was good to get some insight as to why Arthur was dying, though, but I hate that he's become so damn powerful and he's just stopping everyone left and right. Also, I think the deus ex machina won't be Claire/Sylar's blood healing everyone, but rather this eclipse thing seems to give people their powers.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I'm still trying to figure out why Meredith and Flint decide to leave Odessa for Houston to get to the Mexican border. Check a map guys, you're doing it wrong.
