And I'm officially jumping on the Twins bandwagon.

Before all you Twins fan get up in arms, my bandwagon jumpings have mostly all been big winners (Marlins in 03, Angels in 02 and D-Backs in 01).

The Twins have gone into a hitting slump this past week. They do this all the time. Look like the best team, and turn around and get shutdown by Mark Redman. The good news is they've always been able to breakout of these slumps at the right time. Hopefully it happens next week.

It's from a David Foster Wallace short story. I'm in the mood for a new reference, though.

It is. The Astros have to win both of the last two games and hope that St. Louis loses at least one. If St. Louis loses one of the next two and the Astros win both of the next two, they'll be back to a half-game behind, and they'll have to play the Giants and then, maybe, in Houston. If the 'Stros win both games and the Cards lose both, the Cards will be .5 game back of the Astros and will have to win the make up game against the Giants to get a playoff game in Houston. There's too many damn scenarios. I just wanna watch Chris Sampson pitch today. I like Chris.

Nah, it's Sampson. It's been announced and everything. It's on record that Chris Sampson is pitching today's game with the Braves, so now Phil can't change it cuz it's all nice and official-like. At least, he better not change it. I think Phil realizes, on the 2nd to last day of the season, that the Astros are in a pennant race.

I think the 'Stros have a good chance to win the next two and I think the Cards have a good chance of going 1-1, which would set up a make-up game on Monday between the Cards and the Giants. I'm not confident in the Giants being competitive, especially since 2/3 of their team will have already flown home to spend time with their grandchildren.

God damnit. Why won't the Dodgers LOSE?

Because their schedule lined up against two extremely shitty teams and they're taking care of business. Grady's doing a great managerial job too.

the dodgers are simply hot right now. its not about aplying shitty teams. we've seen them get cleaned out by the pirates. they're just really streaky. plus they aren't that bad of a team. though starting pitching is a weakness. there's no ace little can put his faith in. penny has struggled, although i think he's hurt, right?

They've owned the Rockies and Giants all season, is what I was trying to say. Yes, Penny's hurt, but he's probably going to start Game 1. EVERYTHING has to go right for the Phillies to get in, and with Maddux on the hill today, they can forget about taking a spot from the Dodgers. They blew it when they lost in Washington.

If it's not for Mike Stanton closing for the Giants, the Phillies are one game back. I mean, MIKE STANTON?

I love how fucking cocky Yankee fans are. They make fun of Boof Bonser's stats yet here are some of the Yanks pitching stats

Randy Johnson 17-11 5.00ERA 172K 60Walks 1.24 WHIP

Jarrett Wright 11-7 4.39ERA 80K 56Walks 1.51WHIP

Yeah looks like Wright is worth all that big money that was spent on him. Also I saw Pavano and Chacon wanted to say thank you to Steinbrenier for overpaying for their services.

Unbelievably stupid move by LaRussa to "unintentionally" walk light-hitting Mike Rivera to load the bases with two outs for the pitcher's spot, forcing Yost to take Ben Sheets (100 pitches) out of the game. Unfortunately, Tony's master plan failed to account for the reality that a pinch-hitter (Jeff Cirillo) would be put in the game in Sheets' stead.

Cirillo sends one back up the middle to drive in two. 2-0 Brewers.

It would certainly warm my heart to watch the Cards run themselves right out of the postseason, even if it puts the Jackasstros (hey, viva!) in the playoffs

Well, that was...somewhat original...at least.

Let's finish Lastros.

Defect the hated Fidel Castros back to Cuba.

The ASTros, representing the Atlantic Time Zone, where only wildpegasus resides.

The Chicago Cubs should be renamed the Fastros.
