Oh yeah, back on topic...

I like ESPN in a trainwreck sort of way, though Lushus is right... Jaws, Mort, and Ditka save the pregame show.

I've always liked the CBS coverage.

NBC is alright, should get better once Bettis moves past his current character.

FOX went completely down the toilet once JB left, as he was the foundation that kept the show together. The new black guy they replaced him with is pretty decent, but I don't like him since he has to fill in JB's role.

That would be Curt Menefee. He used to do play by play with Tim Green, I wanna say.

Anyway, I saw Curt during the halftime show and it threw me off. Can someone explain how it works with Curt and the unbearable Joe Buck splitting time?

Intro for the '92 NFC title game. Awesome. Why can't NFL coverage be like that again.

Doesn't skew younger? I don't know. They really think we need dancing robots to enjoy sports.

Oh crimony, who's the drooling troglodyte that voted for Fox?

And they have Chris Rose doing the Game Break updates, which James Brown used to do. I'm really confused now.

I voted CBS. NBC has the best production, but I honest to god cannot stand Madden. Every thing he says is either blatantly obvious, stupid, or both. I can't remember how many years it's been since he said something insightful on air.

Edit: Watched that YouTube package. I'd forgotten what it was like to actually care about the NFL. The idea of an epic showdown like that is just completely lost now. I loved the NFL from when I was a little kid through Elway's first Super Bowl, but now, I watch maybe a quarter of a game and get bored and change the channel.

When the best thing that you can focus on for each channel is the orchestral bumper music, I think it's safe to say that they're all terrible. That being said, CBS seems to have the most insightful in-game commentary (by default, really - everybody else is mind-numbingly terrible), so they get my vote.

What's crazy is how far Fox has gone down hill. The first few years of Fox Sports (with a sane John Madden working with Pat Summerall) were actually quite revolutionary, with a score that actually displayed at the top through the whole game, pop-up windows that showed more information seamlessly, and a line that showed the first down marker. The problem is that they haven't added a damn thing since then and, in lieu of progress, they've just cranked up the volume on the bells and whistles to the point where it grates the nerves. (This applies for their coverage of Baseball and NASCAR as well.)

Also, credit to ESPN for turning Monday Night Football into a complete debacle as well. I think we're about two to three weeks (around the time when we start to see ratings trends) from seeing the real backlash occur, as virtually everything about the broadcast is a real drag on the experience, from the idiotic score monitor at the bottom to the hideous commentary.
