How do people from the St. Louis area say it? They're typically the only Missourians you ever see on TV. Kansas Citians say it the right way.

Harley Race is from Kansas City and everytime he pronounces "Missouri", it's always "Missour-ah".

I'm still trying to figure out how you can get Missoura from MissourI.

It'd be a shame if Harold Ford lost because he's running exactly the kind of campaign you should if you want to win in the south.

I share your collective distaste for George Allen, but VA has been voting him into office for a long time.

Both the Cook Report and the NY Times guide are calling Michigan a "toss-up" even though Gov. Granholm leads by almost 10 points in every poll.

Michigan's economy has been suffering, though. Unemployment is above the national average, and Democrats are associated with higher gas taxes and fuel economy standards that are percieved by many to hurt what's left of their auto industry (because, you know, its the DNC's fault that only Honda and Toyota build cars that get 40 mpg).

CNN has their results page already up:

I'm scared to predict anything, to be honest. Since I was a kid, I've always ended up backing or predicting in favor of the loser/s.

For safety's sake: Republicans pull off a shocker and actually build on their majority.

I'm worried about this election. All this talk of a Democratic takeover is predicated on the American people making a reasoned decision. They couldn't get it right in 2004 so I don't have much confidence two years later.

That kind of attitude makes me want to go down the line on my ballot and mark every name with a ® next to it.

The ballot for my district is a joke; half the categories are one candidate running unopposed, I know the guy running against Ted Kennedy has no shot in hell (I'm still voting for him), and I don't think ANY of the choices for govenor deserve my vote. I might just vote for the propositions (wine in grocery stores....whooo!).

I wonder if the Dems are still counting on the youth vote again this year?

Democrats are counting on the anti-Bush vote this year. I don't think that's limited to just one demographic anymore.

Anyone just about fed up with the latest invention by the media that "The Democrats are so cocky, they believe they have it all wrapped up and have already won" I mean, it is pretty much assanine that they keep repeating this, yet at the same time haven't been able to quote or show footage of a single democrat saying this......and I am talking about actual politicians, not pundits who come onto the shows to say the company line which will ALWAYS BE "I think we are going to win"

The big race I'm interested in is the Maryland Senate race. Michael Steele has been gaining in the polls and Bob Novak now has the race tilting his way against Ben Cardin even with Cardin still leading the polls by three points. I'm rooting for Steele but I sense that Cardin may still be able to hang on and get Paul Sarbanes seat.

Of the Senate seats (since I could care less about the House) I see George Allen hanging on in VA, Bob Corker beating Harold Ford Jr. TN, John Tester defeating Conrad Burns in Montana, Menendez over Kean in NJ, DeWine and Santorum both lose, and Lincoln Chaffee pulling off a miracle and winning in Rhode Island to retain his seat.

All told, by the end of the night the Democrats win the House, the GOP holds the Senate by a narrow margin, and the Democrats win control of more governorships and we get deadlock across America and in Congress.

Gee, ya think? All of Sheldon Whitehouse's ads are basically "Bush bad, vote for me" even though Chafee is probably the last Repub you'd think of when it comes to following Bush's lead.

I'll vote, but as I said, the choices on my ballot aren't exactly making me rush to the polls.

I'm pretty much right with you, although I think Chafee and Steele will lose. Webb has also taken a lead over Allen in the polls & Allen's GOTV is being trashed.

My bold prediction is that my home state of KY will have 3 D Reps by tomorrow night (out of 6, we have 1 right now who is basically unopposed).

Seeing the ads in the Steele race, I swear I didn't see one commercial in which his opponent said what he would do. It was literally all, "Steele supports Bush, so he like, sucks and things". After awhile, I started to wish I could vote for Steele cause he was at least TRYING to get his message out about what he would do.

Plus the democrats lost me with the stupid, "Steele likes puppies, but he looooooves George Bush" ad.

Whatever, it is not like Steele's ads haven't been dopey too. Him and his kids, saying that Steele keeps it real.

*sigh*

I saw that one last night..OMG Steele likes Frank Sinatra..what in the fucking blue hell does that have to do with him running for the Senate? That ad is about as inane as the ones running early on against him saying he likes puppies and Bush..

Im also pissed off that the Republican Party decided "Hey..theres a democrat faltering in a senate race..lets flood the airwaves with ads for Steele!" because I care more about the governors race and I haven't seen one ad for either Erlich or Omalley in the last week and a half at least..its been all Steele ads and a Cardin ad thrown in here and there for hillarity.

I can't wait to see all of the good, wholesome victory parties that will result when the anti-gay marriage amendment passes by a huge margin here. "IT AIN'T RIGHT!"

The governor's races don't concern me personally.

The stem cell intiative is really modelizing people for Talent, as opponents are claiming that it legalizes cloning. Multiple recent polls have given McCaskill the advantage, but her lead is within the margin of error.

My prediction is that the Senate outcome will be 49-49-2, with Lieberman and Sanders caucusing with the Democrats. The outcome won't be know for a while, though, because of absentee ballots. The biggest reason for this is that not enough Republican senators are up for re-election to make that big of an impact.

House: 230-205 in favor of the Democrats.

I hope and pray that Kean somehow beats Menendez in the NJ Senate race, mostly because Menendez is probably one of the biggest scumbags in New Jersey not named Jon Corzine. Seriously, either Menendez or Corzine criticizing someone else's character is the purest example of the pot calling the kettle black.
