NYU 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 Yeah, feedback's mandatory. I decided. I just spent two hours putting together this show when I didn't think I had to, so I feel I earned some sleep. Everyone else feedback right away. Remember. Not optional. Mandatory.

Tony149 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 NYU comes through in the clutch, saving me the trouble of having to put the show together myself. Great job on the opening exchange, the best we've had in a long time. Sweet 6-man tag featuring the Burrough Boys, Team Jamacia and Jumbo. Looks like we've got a new wrestler in the fed. Megan and Todd once had a thing? I need to read the shows more carefully. It may go overlooked by most, but I really liked the pieces used throughout the night showing the men involved in the Chamber match getting ready. Speaking of ready, PR and Stephen seemed to have their plans in order. The 24/7 segment was awesome! Whoa, Peter Knight won! Didn't see that one coming at all. PK a total dick at the end. Heel 101 there. Dead Precidents vs. The Usual Suspects: Match of the Night candidate. Balls to the wall violence. Heartland Invitational Chamber of Hell II: A monster of a match. But damn if Alf didn't deliver. Another MOTN candidate. More 24/7 hijinks. Looks like the SCM may have found the character they've lacked. Nice to see the Boiz and Gunslingers released from witness protection. Bo is the man. Not only was he left untouched, but he went home with the girl. PR vs. Drek Stone: The history package before the match was straight out of late 80s WWF events. Long and detailed. Pretty cool. As for the bout, NYU was right on with his praise for the match. The spot were Drek tapped to the Sharpshooter was excellent. Kinda figured PR's crew would play a role in the match, but it was no bigge. Stone at the announce booth was priceless. We even had thumbtacks...and a GUN used! That had to be the damnest ending I've ever seen/read. It was a unique finish, that's for sure. Match of the Night: Tough decision. The final 3 matches were some of the best we've had. But I won't take the cheap way out, so I'll say the MOTN goes to...Dead Precidents vs. The Usual Suspects. What can I say. I'm a sucker for tag wrestling. Line of the Night: "Relax, The Biff'll just stick a protein bar underneath the bun and it'll even itself out." -- Biff Atlas
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 Here's mine. Surprised to see Black T drop the belts so quick, but they really put up a fight. Really dramatic stuff. And just what was Drek and Hoff's motive? Tune into HeldDOWN~! to find out! Loved the segment with Cortez/Megan. The Love Doctors bit was hilarious. For some reason, it reminded of me of the dream sequence in Airplane, where the girl goes head first into the jukebox and it starts playing Stayin' Alive. Great stuff. Really good match between Pete & Pete. PK pulled out all the stops to save his career, and he did it, despite the back problems. I still get the feeling from the ending that this one isn't quite over with. Tremendous brawl between the US/Wildcards. They said it wouldn't be a wrestling match, and it wasn't. And to think, after this, there's MORE on the way. I can't wait! Main event was great, it really picked up towards the middle and end. I did have a problem with the finish, though...I understand it story-line wise, at least long-term, but when there was just a gun angle a couple months ago, it kind of takes most of the shock factor away from it. Great show, guys. And thanks once again to Papacita for the graphics.
Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 Tag-Team title match, totally did NOT expect to see a title change so thumbs up for the surprise move. It’s funny I did a similar ending to my SWF PPV match a few weeks ago (mimicking Von Erich/Lawler) It just seemed a bit short to get the guy taken totally out of the match, or maybe short is the wrong word for it but it didn’t grab me and drag me into Tony’s world of problems as much as I would have liked it to but a very solid match with a surprising outcome. The between matches segments with the 6 guys preparing were a nice touch, really pushing the match like it deserves to be. Six man tag featuring a run in by Waluigi? I was a bit surprised at how straight it was played, I saw their picture and expected more comedy Ah the Cortez/Megan/Landon love triangle, something you probably wouldn’t know about unless you were in the SWF at the time, I wasn’t but I heard about it. And that “Insert match here” – Just awesome The Bo 24/7 segment was awesome, just how I pictured that title being handled kudos The Knight stays in OAOAST!! Good match and I’m glad to see that we’re not one Pete down after this What can I say about the Street Fight? Other than once again Zack delivers the goods, brutal, hard hitting and the right people almost won that’s how it’s supposed to be, Zack isn’t going to get revenge with a headlock after all – barbwire bat to the chest is more like it! And since I know what’s coming I’m even more excited I’ve always been a sucker for multiman gimmick matches like the Heartland title match so right off the bat I’m there front and center. And was I disappointed? HELLS NO! That was awesome, brutal and dramatic and then Alf really shows that he’s a true asshole heel by winning it in a “Less than clean” fashion and then a masked giant? (funny we’ve got one of those if the SWF as well… nah it couldn’t be?) The promo for the main event – reveals that “the story so far” puts anything the WWE has done in ages to shame. And what a main event, I mean WHAT a main event, at least the actual wrestling part. The ending was high drama definitely with Drek going to insane lengths to keep the title only to turn around and reveal that “it was a set up all along”. That’s now TWO guns in OAOAST’s short history compared to ONE gun in all the history of wrestling (not counting Austin’s “Bang flag” gun) what have we started Zack? Now honestly there HAS to be some sort of repercussion from that, greater than what happened with Zack since he was not in his right mind after what Bruce did. Drek has no excuses, he pulled a gun on PPV and threatened someone for the sole reason of winning a match loaded or not (on the street he would have been on the wrong end of a justified shooting by a police officer) There is only one way that sort of ploy can be justified and that’s if something earthshakingly huge is planned as the follow up to it. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 GPX/Martial Law is in. Sorry everyone. Even sorrier for those who waste their time going back to read it. I've got a bitch of a cold which makes writing a sensical match a tad tough. Feedback to come. Honestly. Megan and Todd once had a thing? I need to read the shows more carefully. SWF thing. I'd do a highlight package up about it but a: it's not that important at the moment and b: it'd be roughly as long as the first half of the PPV put together. I think I got the jist of it in the promo.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 If it's mandatory, I'll do it when I finally get a chance to read it, I haven't been able to ojack in relation to OAOAST since school started, I'm really screwed
NYU 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 Okay. Well, I always live up to my promises, of course. So here's my quick feedback. Black T vs. The Sooner Bruisers -- I'm a sucker for matches with a good story, and this one definitely had it. Dan Black looked great trying to fight off both Bruisers, and Tony wrestling both of them despite the massive blood loss painted him as a great sympathetic face. Yet, in the end, the Bruisers finally seemed to establish themselves as a true threat to the tag ranks with their Tag Team Title wins. As others have said, the title win shocked me, but it has done wonders to make the Bruisers look important. And where is the Drek/Hoff interference leading to? We'll get to that...eventually. The Burrough Boys vs. Jumbo, Reggie Lamont, and Denzel Spencer -- Quick, fast-paced action that was a breeze to read. It was also a very good contrast to the previous match which was more about the story. I didn't catch the new person at the end being Waluigi until Bruce mentioned it. And now that I think about it...it's a good idea. Maybe should be a little more obvious though. Great segment with Maddix/Cortez/Megan. I'm really intrigued with the whole love triangle thing and, if KC ever gets the time, I would enjoy seeing a brief history of that rivalry. The three of them click so well together and it set the stage nicely for the nice match. The Global Party XChange vs. Landon Maddix and Todd Cortez -- This match and the previous segment made me a real fan of Landon Maddix. I love all the oblivious, pompous antics he pulls out. From "Street talk is out? Okay. Street talk is out" to the pandering for a "Heartbreak Cucaracha" chant, he's quickly becoming one of my favorite wrestlers here. The match itself was very technical -- more so than I would have expected between these four guys. But the fast-paced quickfire ending was excellent. I'll be honest, I got so into the match that I felt a little cheated by the ending. I hope we see more work between Maddix and Cortez, whether they're on the same team or fighting as enemies, very soon. Cool segment with PRL/Popick. It definitely put over the Main Event and fully established the friendship between the two that would become key later on. But, of course, Popick can't help but reveal some hidden motives of his own discussing his title shot and PRL's contract. Great 24/7 Title segment with Bohemoth. I love Bo as the straight champion surrounded by all the wacky challengers. My two highlights would definitely be the Biff/Bo conversation and the beginning and the dramatic entrance of the Love Doctors. The somersault plancha off the vending machine was nice too. Peter Knight vs. Longdogger Pete -- I enjoyed PK going crazy at the beginning of the match, chopping and choking Pete without giving him a moment to rest. It put over his hatred of the man early on. This match was another one with a good story. Peter Knight had to overcome so much pain and struggle through it for the entire match just to simply keep his career alive. But Pete looked sympathetic as well, trying to fight through his knee injury. For him to do a legdrop off the second turnbuckle with his knees in as bad condition as they were is just crazy on his part. With the end, I sense PK was going foe a double turn -- Longdogger Pete suddenly turned into the face that respected his opponent and Peter Knight had become the bitter, arrogant heel that couldn't be bothered. If I'm right here, and I'd feel stupid if I wasn't, it worked. Zack Malibu and Leon Rodez vs. Bruce Blank and Bloodshed -- Wow. Excellent match. All the violence in this match truly showed just how deep this entire rivalry has gotten, and the fact that it isn't even over yet is scary. From the barbed wire baseball bat to the bloodmist, almost everything in this one was sadistic in its own way. I also thought it was clever that the first pinfall in this match was actually the final one as well. As Tony said, this was a definite MOTN candidate competing with the last two matches of the night. I can't say much more about this thing. I loved it. The Chamber of Hell II -- Okay, I don't have enough time here to go over everything in this match I liked. Colombian Necktie on the barbed wire board, FIRE DODGEBALL?!?!, superplex onto a cactus, pushing a shopping cart with Brock into the steel steps. I don't think I liked Reject kicking out of the Five Star Alf Splash, but it did boost his credibility in the match in a hurry. Of course, in the end, it had to come down to the rivals with Alf and Brock fighting for the belt. I have to say, I am now really wondering who the mystery man was. The ending did feel a little like a copout after such an intense, hectic, awesome match....but it may just be leading somewhere that will justify it in the end. This was a definite Match of the Year Candidate. I read the entire thing, which seemed daunting when I originally looked at it, and was enthralled the entire way through. Amazing job with this. Bohemoth is so fucking cool. That's all I can say about him. Twelve man challenging for his belt...and he walks away with barely a scratch. It feels like the 24/7 Title was made for him. Drek Stone vs. Tha Puerto Rican -- Excellent. It lived up to all my expectations and managed to even surpass them. For all the dramatic matches we saw at World Without End, I honestly feel this had the best drama of them all. Drek and PRL truly were willing to do it all for the Heavyweight Title, and EWC captured that feeling perfectly. Through all the action though, their characters were still appropriately cocky as well. With Drek using the commentary booth to lay the verbal jabs at his opponent to PRL mocking Drek as he did the Corporate Elbow onto the thumbtacks, both guys just how similar to each other they are as they beat the hell out of one another. I just have to say that I couldn't be more proud of the job EWC did here, and I think a continuation of the Drek/PRL feud at some point in the future should go without saying. He really stepped up here in a big way, and I mean that. Now, I wrote the ending. And for those that feel the gun incident was less shocking because we just saw it two months ago....that was exactly the point. Just read the commentary at the end. I'm not going to go more into it now at the moment. And, as always, Papacita does a great job with the graphics. But I would be repeating myself if I heaped any more praise onto him. KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 I'll add more in-depth feedback a little later, but my overall thoughts are as follows: We are on a PPV roll right now. Everyone put a lot of thought into their matches, making sure that it had a good overall story in addition to making the in-ring action was exciting to read as well. Like NYU, I'm seriously digging what a pompus ass Landon Maddix (See? I remembered, KC) is. I was really looking forward to the main event and I think it delivered nicely; EWC and NYU really should deserve credit for an incredibly entertaining feud over the past month. The ending was a little strange at first, but it certainly makes sense when you think about Drek's history. I was putting off and putting off writing my match until the last minute and I thought it suffered as a result, so I'm glad and a little surprised it's getting such good response. Overall, not as good as AngleSlam, but definitely in the top 5 PPVs of the year.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 Tag-Team title match, totally did NOT expect to see a title change so thumbs up for the surprise move. It’s funny I did a similar ending to my SWF PPV match a few weeks ago (mimicking Von Erich/Lawler) Funny you should mention that because I got my idea from the Road Warriors-Midnight Express NWA tag title change. For what it's worth, the Sooner Bruisers weren't the team I had planned on switching the titles to, those plans fell through. Now to complete my feedback for the show. GPX vs. Todd/Landon: Fun match until the finish, which I suspect was because the match was rushed and/or to set up a rematch. Still good. No complaints. The pre-match commentary filled me in on the history between Todd, Landon and Megan.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 Well, it's already been 'feedbacked' better and more eloquently than this, but a promise is a promise. Black T/Sooner Bruisers I believe the term is 'basks in the glory' rather than baskets. Didn't expect Drek and Hoff's cameo, but it makes sense if you've been paying attention. Nice set-up for the sympathy spots for both Black and then Brannigan, plus a little bit of tension between the two. And a nice, if a little unexpected, finish to protect both teams. Nothing more old school than stoppage for blood-loss. Seemed to move a little fast maybe, not as much of an 'epic' (ie long) as I'd expected it to be. Did it's job though. And it least it had a proper finish, unlike another tag match on the show, winkwink. Borrough Boys/Jumbo and Jamaica Having not feedbacked HD in forever, I'll say so here, Alf's been the MVP of this place the past few months. And again, he's bringing the content. Apart from trying to keep track of who's who with five new(ish) characters, a nice little six man. Giant Swing = awesome. Make that six new(ish) characters. I'm liking the little Chamber snippets Alf did too. GPX/Martial Law I'm sorry. The promo was decent though, right? PRL/Popick segment When the hell did everyone suddenly decide to write non-match segments for PPVs? Good little snippet to set up PRL being a little insecure about Popick. 24/7 segment 1 Again, when the hell did everyone suddenly decide to write non-match segments for PPVs? Longdogger/Knight Nice to see we're playing up on the SWF aspect still. Mixed crowd reactions seem to be all the rage nowadays too. Kayfabe is dead. Good story behind the match, with the leg versus the back. I honestly expected Pete to go over in the end, for a number of reasons, so consider me suitably swerved. A well written brawl, though the ending seemed to come from nowhere. Again, not that I can talk, I just calls them how I sees them. Usual Suspects/Dead Precedents For all this talk about Dead Precedents, how many times did Bruce and Rando actually tag together in the SWF? Has it been a year since Usual Suspects last tagged. Bugger me this year has gone quick. The spot with Zack getting thrown into the crowd brought back some old ECW memories. Can't remember from what match, but still. The whole match had a strong vibe of ECW at it's best. Really strong match, lot of emotion behind it. Heartland Invitational Chamber of Hell II I love Alfdogg, master of cheapheat. Always good, even if I as a Limey don't get most of the references. I forgot that the Chamber of Hell isn't the same set-up as the Elimination Chamber with the elevated steel floor, so I was going to ask why they were going underneath the ring. Silly me. Markout for the cactus. Straight up Cage Of Death. Flaming dodgeballs has got to be a new one though. Fantastic. THAT MUST BE...THAT MUST BE KANE! Interesting ending to a great, crazy match, patented Alf. Maybe with Alf and Bruce, we should (god forbid) try the Deathmatch Tournament from License 2 Pin again. Maybe this time it wouldn't be such a washout. ME video segment Yet again, when the hell did everyone suddenly decide to write non-match segments for PPVs? Very comprehensive recap. Yay. Not sure what else to say really. 24/7 segment 2 Once more, when the hell did everyone suddenly decide to write non-match segments for PPVs? Please don't stop. PRL/Drek Okay, so I hate to be critical, but I'm really not sure what to think of the ending either. I wasn't 100% sure about Zack's angle either, so maybe I've just got a weak disposition or something. I dunno. Other than that (and it might just be me anyway, let's be fair) a really great match. The interaction with Hoff and Drek really added something and I loved the promo from HD last week with Drek reminding Hoff to hate him so he wouldn't throw in the towel if called on. The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 Yeah, at least I'm trying to play on that particular bit of Bloodshed here/Alan Clark there in the SWF.
