EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 WTF? The Orioles are giving up a prospect AND money for Jaret "4 Innings Feels" Wright? Does Brian Cashman have naked photos of all of the other GMs in baseball or something? If the criticism of Wright is that he lasts four innings an outing, what do we say then about Chris Britton, who as a reliever pitched less innings? If you converted Wright to the 'pen he'd be a better pitcher than Britton. I think this is a good deal for the O's.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 If you're the O's and trading a decent reliever for a below average starter, I'm guessing you probably need more help with the rotation than the bullpen. Converting said starter to a reliever doesn't make any sense to me even if it's just Jaret Wright.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 In the Orioles defense, Wright had his best season working with Leo Mazzone. I've never seen Britton pitch, but I'm glad we won't have Wright in our rotation again...
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 Britton doesn't walk as many people as Wright, and Britton was just a rookie last year. I'll take Britton over Wright because of the upside, and not allowing so many baserunners. Neither allows too many HRs, but Britton also gets more Ks. Yeah because getting a starting pitcher who gets knocked out in the 4th or 5th inning every game is a great trade. Especially when you are able to give your bullpen 5 innings of work every 5 days. Maybe the Orioles might get lucky and be able to pencil in the bullpen to pitch 6 innings every time Wright starts.

Mik 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 Yeah, Al, what are you gonna do in regards to the Yankees farm team? I was home for Halloween and everyone was pretty buzzed about the Yankees coming in to town. I heard something about a record number of sellouts already... I'd say that the area was pretty close to being a Yankee town instead of a Phillies town anyway...this will only push it over the edge.

I'll go and enjoy the games, because you separate the team from the parent club, and the players are just the same type of guys you see elsewhere.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Chris Britton was referred to be me as Sidney Ponson Jr..I think Wright has more of a shot in the Os rotation anyway, Id imagine hed be ahead of Rodrigo Lopez and Hayden Penn for the 5th spot, with Lopez staying put in the bullpen. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ANOTHER crazy O's fan. Wright flat out sucks and have fun watching him pitch 4 innings every start while he struggles.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Hey...Jaret Wright won 15 games in 2004. Has Randy Johnson ever won 15 games? Hmmmm? In other news, the Cubs not only signed Aramis Ramirez...for cheap, yo, but they also signed Kerry Wood. The rotation is complete!
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted November 13, 2006 You fucking tool, how many times do I have to say he's working middle relief.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Geez..."fucking tool" is kinda harsh. I know he's working middle relief. I heard he has an incentive in his clause for games finished, so maybe he'll take the closing job away from Dempster, perhaps. I was just making funny. Guest Felonies! Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Okay, it was funny once, but you've gone "hehe rotation" like five times now. Kerry Wood is a good guy for even coming back to the North Side in the first place when he didn't have to. At least he wants to help. If you wanna rip an injured Cub pitcher, rip Prior.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Oh yeah, I like Wood. I like Prior, too. It's really a shame that they're hurt so much. I didn't enjoy it at the time, but looking back on it, when Kerry Wood struck out 20 Astros, that was a hell of a performance. And I didn't do the "hehe rotation" thing 5 times. I've done it maybe 2...3 at the most. I just started the joke the other day so I had to finish it.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Peter Gammons reports that the Red Sox have won the Matsuzaka sweepstakes with a bid of $42 million. They will have 30 days to negotiate a contract once Seibu announces the acceptance of the bid. Holy shit, this is so awesome. I knew the Sox would try to make a splash in the offseason, but I never thought they would have the resources for Dice-K. Hopefully he's the ace of the staff for the next 5-10 years. devo 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 The Mets agreed on terms with Jose Valentin to a one year/four million dollar deal, with an incentive whose details haven't been revealed yet. Although I seriously doubt 'Stache will repeat his 2006 performance, I'm still happy with the deal, as it's not yet known whether or not the Mets will be able to obtain a new second baseman. Peter Gammons reports that the Red Sox have won the Matsuzaka sweepstakes with a bid of $42 million. Good lord.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted November 13, 2006 I heard they might lowball him, get their posting back, and return Matsuzaka to Japan for 2007, just so the Yankees can't get him.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Looks like the Red Sox really are going for a splash this offseason, as it has been reported that not only have they won the Matsuzaka sweepstakes, they have also offered JD Drew a four-year deal in the neighborhood of $52 million. I really called that one last week, didn't I? Guess this means that Coco or Wily Mo will be moved in a deal now, if Drew signs. According to several sources, given the new luxury tax threshold and the big contracts that came off the books for the Sox, they have somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 million to spend on free agents this offseason. Mik 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Yeah, Hanley! Marlins took 1st, 3rd, 4th, and had three more receive votes. (Uggla 3rd, Josh Johnson 4th, Scott Olsen, Anibal Sanchez and Josh Willingham receiving votes) From now until the Marlins have to make the big decision on Cabrera are gonna be awesome (and beyond if they make the right one). sfaJack 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Somebody remind me again why we're supposed to sympathize with the poor underdog Sox' plight of being trapped in the same division as the big meanie Yankees. KingPK 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 I just hope Matsuzaka has the mentality to be able to transition from a Japanese baseball atmosphere (which seems pretty controlled from what I've seen) to a real hardcore baseball town where people are picking apart your every start every day. With the money we're talking about, he's probably going to be expected to win 20 games next year.
