Gee, I don't know, Joe Buck doesn't want to do the Donovan McNabb Shuffle for nothing.

Sorry Gilbert, you're way too late.

I wonder who the fattest person to ever play in the NFL is.

I'm not sure if I'll watch tonights game. Denver and/or Baltimore do nothing for me.

Why is a Desperate Housewives actor in the booth? This is ESPN on ESPN, not ESPN on ABC.

I don't want to see the Broncos or Ravens on national TV again. What a crashing bore. Monday Night Football needs Matt Leinart getting nailed in the ground like a railroad spike next week to redeem itself. I actually fell asleep during their game against the Patriots, and that overtime field goals-only game against the Chiefs was terrible too. It doesn't matter who wins this game. ESPN loses for hyping it all week as if it was a big fucking deal. What a farce.

I'm beginning to wish that I watched RAW instead. Was it any better?

Apparently Money Inc. and Arn Anderson made appearances. And JBL was awesome as always. But HHH also said "cock" approximately 58,771 times during one 5-minute promo. So, a bit of a mixed bag.

Money Inc? That would be interesting.

NBC is putting Denver back on national tv again this sunday against Oakland, of all teams. It's lose-lose. It's either Broncos sleeping through a 13-6 victory, or a boring 27-14 penalty laden game with Madden waxing poetic about the old days in Oakland.

Is that in Madden's primetime contract? That he covers a minimum of two Oakland games per season?

Agh. That's three national games in four weeks. Why? I guess in theory, it's a smart pick, because the two teams have huge national fanbases, but the Broncos are boring and the Raiders are bad. I bet NBC can't wait until the home stretch of the season when they get to hand-pick the game of the week.

What's the score in the Denver/Baltimore game?

I'd also like to issue an apology on behalf of my beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers for subjecting the world to another 3-4 weeks of Reggie Bush fawning. It seemed like some media people were starting to come around to the idea that this guy really can't be successful out of the backfield in the NFL and guys like Maroney and Maurice Drew were starting to get noticed as legitimate OROYC. But, alas, I think I saw highlights of that punt return at least ten times on ESPN at work today.

Denver/Oakland is the first crappy Sunday night so far this season. Bring on flexible scheduling.

Denver/New England was bad. I think flexible scheduling starts in Week 10. Let's see how many Bears games they can pick up. Bears/Patriots, that's a given.

Denver/New England had the potential to be good, and was a rematch of a playoff game from last year. Denver/Oakland features a totally hopeless team that can claim losses to both Cleveland and San Francisco this season and, even based on last season, has no business anywhere near a primetime game.

And who won the goddamn game tonight?

I suspect we'll be doing the McNabb Shuffle all the way through the end of the season on Sunday nights, as the NFC East should be competitive all the way through and features the BIG MARKET~! teams other competitive divisions (NFC South, for instance) lack. But because I think the Giants and Saints will falter down the stretch, I'd say the only real three-team race is in the AFC North. So check your schedules for those games, too. Some major, major markets involved there.

Denver won it 13-3 with a touchdown coming in at around 4 minutes left. I didn't watch the whole game. Who could? What I did see was boring, though.

I feel dirty rooting for the Saints, because everybody's doin' it, but I'd love for them to beat the Eagles if it means I don't hear "the Donovan McNabb Shuffle" that week.

I honestly hope that the Saints don't win again this year. The combination of Reggie Bush hype and nauseatingly-inspirational Hurricane Katrina bullshit is too much for me. I mean, it's the New Orleans Saints, for God's sake. This is like if a really rollicking blizzard hit Detroit and everyone suddenly took the Lions seriously.

Good point, but at least you can kinda feel good for New Orleans a teensy bit. The Philadelphia overhype has no redeeming qualities.

If Detroit ceased to exist for a few days and had its population reduced by two thirds, then you'd have an apt comparison.

I don't know what this McNabb shuffle is. Was it another attempted Fox commentator-invented thing?

Joe Buck mentioned that Chicago blew out Buffalo in the last minutes of the Eagles game, and then suggested that since the Eagles were just about to beat the Cowboys, maybe we should be doing the Donovan McNabb Shuffle. Swing and a miss, Joe.

Ah, something no one remembers. I love the football fans of TSM.

I try to keep an ear out for McNabb hype. Invoking the '85 Bears was certainly it.
