CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Looking through the record, there have only been three game sevens that went extra innings. 2003 ALCS (NY d. Boston) 1991 World Series (Minnesota d. Atlanta) 1924 World Series (Washington d. NY Giants) Also, game eight (a deciding game) in the 1912 World Series went extras. The Red Sox beat the Giants. You forgot '97. Everyone's trying to forget '97.

Brett Favre Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 I don't care if i'm going to get bashed for this, but Wagner is to blame. Seriously, if he pitched well, he would have been pitching this inning, no doubt. He cost them the series with his crappy ass performances, even when he didn't pitch like tonight.
NYU Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Either way, this game can't be blamed on the pitching. Oliver Perez did almost anything you could have asked from him. And the bullpen was bound to choke. It's the fact that this daunting Mets lineup couldn't get a damn hit off the Cards pitching staff since the first inning. With the exception of Game 4, their hitting has been weak this entire NLCS, and tonight was the cap to that. Let's hope Minaya gets some better starting pitching for next season and, for God's sake, revamp the bottom of the lineup. Green, Valentin, and Chavez (as much as I thank him for the catch tonight) ain't going to cut it next season.

Except for the fact that this series might have ended last night if Wagner didn't blow Game 2 immediately upon stepping onto the mound. Where do you jokers come from?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 The Mets aren't going to get much better than Jose Valentin at second base.

NYU Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Julio Lugo is dying to go to the Mets and has been quoted as saying he'll even take a pay cut if he needs to. He's a step up from Valentin, at least.

That's another example of Wagner costing them.
NYU Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Hey, that sounded like sarcasm. If it wasn't, my apologies. If it was, just look at the above response.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 If only Valentin could have done that in the seventh.
naiwf Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Now Valentin gets the bloop hit that would have given us a lead. Fucking guy's timing could not have been worse.
randomguy Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Don't the Mets have any pinch hitters? How can you bunt with one man on down by two?
Open the Muggy Gate Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Ok, NOW this is getting interesting.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Don't the Mets have any pinch hitters? How can you bunt with one man on down by two? It's Endy. He would bunt for a base hit.
naiwf Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Why send up Floyd in an obvious bunt situation? WHY?!?!?
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 A BUNT????? How can you waste an out here?????????
naiwf Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 A BUNT????? How can you waste an out here????????? When Floyd puts it on the ground and gives up 2 outs let me know what was the better choice.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 This is a nice thought, but I fear reality may win out over sentiment. And that hand clapping thing needs to stop. They do it every goddamned inning.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 A BUNT????? How can you waste an out here????????? When Floyd puts it on the ground and gives up 2 outs let me know what was the better choice. I don't play results.
naiwf Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Why bunt 2 into scoring position when a wounded dog can just go down looking instead? Cliff Floyd fucking sucks.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Someone needs to take the Mets' soundboard guy and lock him in a closet.
Bored Posted October 20, 2006 Author Report Posted October 20, 2006 Okay someone shoot the guy playing the music in the stadium. It's Game fucking 7 in the 9th inning, you do not need constant backround music to help the atmosphere.
Guest Felonies! Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Question: why do they say "the ____ are going to the World Series" instead of "the ____ win the pennant"? They should do the latter. Winning your league is still an achievement, not just a step on the ladder.
