Characters that should NEVER be allied.

Recommended Posts

I'll put this in General as there might be some non-WWE results.

This is for characters, not wrestlers.

What characters should never be friendly/allied with each other based on kayfabe's history.

eg.

Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie, following the death of Wilson's father.

also

Kane and Snitsky following the death of Kane's baby.

Eh, HHH was doing it for his own good though.

Carlito is involved in a few of these situations. Like him teaming with Cena this year after having the guy stabbed in a nightclub a while back. Or how about teaming with RVD with no explanation after attacking his bad leg and (in storyline) keeping him from returning for another 6 months.

I was going to put that as an example, but someone would have been smart and mentioned they're friends.

Undertaker and Kane, for whichever one (wwe decided on in the end) burned down their parents house.

They are brothers, though.

I never really like the Two Man Power Trip of Austin & HHH in 2001. That was an intense blood feud that had gone on for months and was finally blown off at No Way Out in a 40 minute match. Then Austin allies with McMahon and suddenly they can team together?

Austin: "Sorry about the attempted murder of dropping your car from a forklift."

HHH: "Don't forget, I tried to run you over first!"

Sandman and Raven due to the whole thing with Sandman's son back in ECW. Similarly, Tommy Dreamer and the Dudleyz, since the Dudleyz broke Beulah's neck.

Rock and Hogan, because Hogan tried to lay the smack down on his crippled ass.

Vince McMahon and Stephanie after that feud they in 03. They hit the point of no return when Steph mentioned how Vince basically pimped her out when she was younger.

At least with the Two Man Power Trip, it was presented as being two guys who hated each other teaming up to further their own careers. It wasn't like they were buddy-buddy or anything.

The Austin/HHH alliance always confused me. I mean, HHH had clip in his tron where he was hitting Austin with a sledge hammer. They did have some good beatdowns on the Hardys, though.

I always hated the unwritten rule in wrestling that all faces like each other, and all heels like each other. I think it'd be funny if in the background of backstage segment to have random guys like Orton and Jeff Hardy talking like friends.

Any tag team that ever broke up, ever. Pretty much. The only thing the WWE did right on that count was when Edge and Christian teamed up again for one night only and disliked each other as much as their opponents.

I think the important thing is if there's a REASON for it. I mean, 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' is fine for two guys who had a beef a few months back to be teaming up, in my opinion. Both their individual enemies have formed an alliance, so they team up to take them on and try and forget their personal differences. I can see that. But some stuff, Taker and Kane being most notable in my mind... sheesh.

Jericho and Trish. If I'd been embarrassed and made to lose on the biggest Wrestlemania of all time (or something), I wouldn't be trusting her again. Not that either are likely to go back into wrestling, of course.

Orton: So then I blew smoke right in Vince's face...

Hardy: And you didn't get fired?!

Orton: Who do I look like, some jabroni named Juventud?

It can be explained that Shawn Michaels is a devout Christian therefore he found it in his heart to forgive HHH's sin of trying to end his career on numerous occasions. :P

Edit: I thought Edge and Foley's alliance following their bloodbath at WM this year was pretty dumb.

Luger and Sting for the umpteen fuckin times Luger has turned on him. Sting is apparantly the most forgiving man in the history of earth.

c'mon Sting, i'm pretty sure even Jesus could turn the other cheek only so many times...

Chris Jericho and Trish Stratus. Boy got publicly played by a female. You don't forget that kind of embarassment.

When did this happen post WM XX?

I could be remembering this wrong, but it seems to me this did come up (although without much detail - just HHH not liking Austin when McMahon came up with the idea). I think the idea was to turn HHH face when they broke up after KOTR, but HHH got injured in May.

However, yes, it was an odd team up.

Kane and HHH. Didn't they have some interaction after the Katie Vick fiasco?

I thought it was messed up that Savage joined the nWo after:

-The tension over Savage thinking Hogan was stealing his wife

-Being on the team Hogan destroyed at the BatB heel turn.

-Getting destroyed more often than just about anyone by nWo gang beatings.

And the nWo Wolfpac was out-and-out ridiculous.

Nash, Sting, Luger, Savage, and Konnan?

Demolition rehiring Fuji as their manager in 1990 when they turned heel as well as Crush again being managed by Fuji when he turned on Savage years later as well. They must have had a soft spot for him as their manager.

Speaking of Crush, it was weird when he returned to WWF in '92 or so as a Hawaiian babyface, and they didn't acknowledge his stint in Demolition, even though he was using the same name and everything.

As far as Lex Luger, I thought it was really interesting in '95 and '96 how much of a tweener he was. He was teaming with Sting, but also managed by Jimmy Hart and almost a de facto member of the Dungeon of Doom. I wish more characters would be booked like that.

The old RSPWFAQ gave a rather amusing detailing of Sting's numerous "idiot" instances, IIRC.

Samoa Joe always having Homicides back against the Briscoes is quite ridiculous, seeing as Homicide choked him unconsious, stabbed him with a fork on multiple occasions, and threw a FIREBALL at him.

Alex Shelley joining the Embassy was also pretty ridiculous seeing as he and Austin Aries cost Jimmy Rave his job about a year prior. But who cares, the Embassy ruled.

savage had to join the nWo cuz Eric Bischoff had "blackballed" him from wcw at the time (this was the onscreen story)
