Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 If Michigan and Ohio State are both undefeated going into their game at the Horseshoe, it's pretty safe to say that whoever walks out undefeated is going to the BCS championship game.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Michigan would have the weakest schedule out of OSU, USC and Florida, though.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 If Michigan beats OSU at the Horseshoe, that will be far and away the best win in the country this year, and all they need to be #1 in both polls going into the championship game. The winner of that game doesn't even need to worry about SOS or rankings or anything like that. They're playing a playoff game (assuming neither loses), and the winner of it's in. Meanwhile, USC's probably next in line with a free pass as they're currently #2 in both polls that matter, the computers love them, and they've got their three toughest games ahead of them. However, I don't see them beating Cal right now. The Golden Bears have been on an absolute roll since losing to Tennnessee, and with how vulnerable USC's looked lately, I think Cal could get it done, even on the road. So that would make OSU/Florida the best guess for the title game right now, as I don't the Gators losing to Auburn, Georgia, or Florida State. Not that it couldn't happen, just that I don't see it. Making it out of the SEC undefeated will get them in ahead of any team other than OSU/USC/UM. If Florida loses too, you've always got the WVU/UL winner. With their schedules, the winner of that game should make it through undefeated, although Rutgers will be a huge trap game for the Cardinals the week after playing WVU. If all those teams lose, then it's up in the air again with Tennessee, Cal, Notre Dame, and Texas as well as the above-mentioned teams all having a shot with one loss, and even Boise having an off-chance of sneaking in undefeated. Also, while it's extremely unlikely for them to make it through the slate undefeated, Missouri still has a chance and would definitely get into the title game over any one-loss teams if they make it by Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Texas. They might even get in ahead of an undefeated Louisville or West Virginia. Rutgers I'm not even going to bother with as there's no way they make it through both Navy and Pitt, let alone both WVU and Louisville.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Trying to predict the winner of Georgia/Florida each year is fruitless. That's going to be Florida's biggest test for the rest of the year (after this week) besides the SEC Championship game itself, should they make it there. Cal/USC is going to be the shit. That's a Pac-10 game I'll get in line to watch. For some reason, I'm really not sold on Michigan this year yet. Going undefeated would certainly convince me, but I see them as nothing more than the second best team in the Big Ten and maybe #4 or #5. Perhaps the presence of Ohio State prevents me from seeing them as a national contender.
Guest Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Cal/USC is going to be the shit. That's a Pac-10 game I'll get in line to watch. Just imagine what it would be like to be there.... Oh wait

Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted October 13, 2006 USC/Cal would be fun. But, it Cal is going to win, they'll have to score at least 40. And for whatever reason, winning 7-3 is more impressive.
nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 Why would they need to score 40+? Washington held USC to 26 and WSU held em to 28. USC has only scored above 28 once this season. Cal has a better defense and offense than anyone they've played. They could win that game by scoring only 20.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 Well, that was unexpected. VT's on their way down, again. The traditional November swoon's coming early.

And since they've been blowing out everyone in the 1st half since Tennessee, teams have to become one-dimensional. I just don't think they'll get away with that vs. USC. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted October 13, 2006 And VT is so down this year. I'm baffled why they were favored in this game.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 Because people didn't stop to actually analyze who they'd played this year (read: no one but Georgia Tech), and figured "they're a one-loss ranked team with a big name. They should be able to beat BC." I figured BC would win by 5 or 6, but I didn't think it would be a slaughter like that. Virginia Tech's actually worse than I thought, and if I were to guess, I'd say they'll probably finish 3-5 in the ACC, beating UVA, but losing to Clemson, Miami, and Wake. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I know the "public" would bet on VT because they're the well-known powerhouse name... but, still, I was surprised they were -3 at some places. BC is not a bad team, and they're notoriously a strong team at home. Oh well, got some money off it, so I'm pleased.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I was 50/50 on VT/BC, but thought Tech could pull it out somehow. Tonight was the first time I've watched them all year beyond flipping back and forth and watching them play someone for a few minutes though, so I guess I asked for it. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 Yeah, I had BC at +2.5 (+100) and the 1st half line on Clemson -23.5, so I'm already 2-0. I'm going to miss most of Saturday's games though because I have to go to jail.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 A little of both I guess. I mean, yes I'll be in jail, but it's just a 24-hour stint, so no biggie.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 I know we mentioned this early, but god is today's TV schedule dire. Wake/NC State is probably the best early game. Woofle. I guess Oklahoma/Iowa State, too, but I haven't been able to get interested in ISU.

Bored 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 ESPN doing a good job with the bonus coverage of several games after dumping Minnesota/Wisconsin. Vanderbilt up 14-13 on Georgia. Okay nevermind, now they've decided to go back to that game for no reason.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 And Wake just beats NC State to get to 6-1 and become bowl-eligible. Damn. They've got to be killing themselves over that collapse last week.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 Wow, Indiana shocks Iowa, 31-28 is the final score. Another upset alert, Georgia came back and is leading Vandy by one but just missed a field goal. Vandy has the ball at the Georgia twenty with 5 minutes to go. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 OSU/MSU, UCLA/Oregon, and Ole Miss/Alabama. What an absolutely predictable bunch of games. Oh well, at least UCLA/Oregon should be high-scoring. I can't believe anyone outside of their families would want to watch Ole Miss/Alabama.

gWIL 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 IU beats Iowa! First win against a ranked team since 1987. Could make it to a bowl game this year, they just have to beat any 2 of the following: Ohio State Michigan State Minnesota Michigan Purdue Indiana can beat Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue. Should make for an interesting rest of the year.
