cd213 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 From http://www.lordsofpain.net/index2.html WWE SmackDown superstar David Taylor was injured at last night’s SmackDown tapings. Reports indicate that Taylor tore his meniscus in his left knee. He is scheduled for surgery this Friday, however no word yet on how long he will be out. Taylor, a veteran of British and German rings made his WWE TV debut last week as William Regal’s tag-team partner. He had previously worked with Regal in WCW as a member of the Blue Bloods. Before debuting on television he had been training wrestlers in Deep South Wrestling territory. That just sucks. I hope he is not out long. I thought they could have been a lethal team, and certainly could have won the Tag Titles.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 Anyone know how long a torn mensicus usually leaves you out for? This really sucks, b/c it looks like they were going to do something with Regal.
Thanks for the Fish 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 I don't know how loong he is out, but I'd say a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months would be a good guess. I don't know what this will do to the Regal push though, I wonder if they'llpay until Taylor is heeled up and then cut him. Hopefully they'll stilluse Taylor while he recovers, maybe Regal could bring in a kid to team with while Taylor heels, and then as soon as he is heeled up, both would turn on the kid, maul the hell out of him, and continue on the push. Paul Burchill is down in OVW but probably unlikely as they already teamed and then Burchill went pirate. Fellow Brit Steve Lewington is back training in OVW as well, on his second tour of duty. I'd love to see Nigel McGuinness brought it, but I think that is an extreme longshot. The angle would be too low to debut Harry Smith in, besides Smith seems to be Raw property. Nigel and Burchill would make a badass Eurotrash hooligan team, but the US wouldn't give two shits about them, especially with Regal and Taylor already being the tough brit tag team. Two Brit teams would be one too many for NA to accept or get behind.

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 Well since this gets a thread after being in the "Comments" thread, then so shall my post from that thread be re-posted! Don't take this the wrong way. But Taylor going down with an injury, while a horrible thing to go through, is 100% great news for Smackdown! fans. Taylor's a very good grappler and trainer. This is not a "AWESOME, HE IS INJURED!" post. I would not condone such a thing. But the facts are the facts. Taylor's cosmetic and physical apeparence on his Smackdown! debut left MUCH to be desired. His in-ring work was okay, his crowd heat was non-existant, and personally, as someone who has seen nearly every WCW Sat. Night, Worldwide, Pro, Nitro, and Thunder...while Taylor's ethic was there, crowd interest never was. He'll always be seen by the American fans, if at all, as Regal's henchmen or a "second-rate Regal, snobby Brit". The plus side? Regal can work singles instead of with a heatless partner in a division that is more suited for younger, quicker wrestlers. Not only did Regal get one of the biggest pops are No Mercy for decking King Booker (because he is a BELIAVBLE character that the fans know is a tough man who will fight anyone), but he also had the best match on the show with Chris Benoit. Uh, Benoit/Regal extended feud, please. I like Taylor. But I like Regal much more and this can only mean good things for him.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 Bob, you need that picture of Regal as your avatar. The monocle makes it.
BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 In regards to that it would be interesting to see a U.S. title scene with a bunch of psuedo international talent going for it: Finlay, Regal, Tatanka, Benoit, Chavo, and Lashley.

Toxxic 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 Regal turned on Booker? Awesome. Wish I'd been paying more attention to Smackdown now.

When Finlay debuted, we weren't all blowing our loads for him, either. And besides? Do you really think they'll give Regal a serious singles push? He will always be the guy who can cut a great promo, put on a great match, but will never be seriously pushed as a singles. Hell, even as a tag wrestler, he takes most of the pinfalls. dubq 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 I like Taylor. But I like Regal much more and this can only mean good things for him. Yeah, he can go back to jobbing in singles matches instead of adding to the tag team scene and possibly receiving a push. Seriously, were you drinking when you wrote this sentence? The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 Why can't Regal get a bit of a singles push and have Taylor play as his manager for a few weeks or whatever? Even putting Taylor out there with crutches, or only using him in backstage segments with Regal can at least keep the fans remembering both of them as a team until he comes back from injury. The crowd didn't give a shit about Finlay for his first few months. You can't expect someone who the WWE audience has no fucking clue about, didn't get any hype videos, and just got a little introduction from Regal to get heat while squashing Funaki and Scotty 2 Hotty.
