Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2006 I think my most memorable moment out of all these games was taking Shawn Michaels through the story mode of Wrestlemania 2000, and culminating with the big steel cage title match against the reigning WWF Champion: Mideon! Kind of weird how the computer would have basically anyone beat the champion at any given time. Well I didn't simulate my matches, I actually picked someone and played and it was funny when the computer would beat me unexpectedly and I'd have to change my booking plans on the fly....well maybe not that funny. I remember crazy things like that happening in WM 2000 as well. I remember Bradshaw was always a beast in my game and I'd always have to fight him around the Royal Rumble or in February in a steel cage match. That guy was nearly impossible to beat in those things on Hard difficulty.

Aero 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I'm sure most of us knew about the No Mercy hacks. I've used a few here and there, but when I used a code that alters the arena and ring, it usually results in too many glitches. The best one I remember using was the UFC octogon code. Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2006 Today I beat Goldberg as Eric Bischoff in Revenge. Glorious, especially when my spirit kept rising as Goldberg kicked the crap out of me.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2006 I always thought it was cool how the wrestler's attire would change on the intro as well if you changed them from the edit feature. I remember being amazed when I heard that. I wanted to make all these guys in the Wolfpac, so I had like Meng and Davey Boy Smith wearing Red and Black nWo shirts... yikes... I changed Hogan's attire back to his classic red and yellow and put in Goldberg as the new "leader" of nWo black and white. Beat that for 'dorkish'. I think I can. My friends and I took Revenge and then later No Mercy and would create our own guys or just edit the wrestlers and create the tournaments with 16 people. Put it all on cpu/cpu then began to record it all on the VCR. After it was all said and done, we'd rewind and do actual play by play during the matches. I used to record all my matches on Revenge. I even had a "league" with my cousin, as well as a simulated CPU vs. CPU league, both of which I kept track of the results for in a big 5 subject notebook, alongside my Raw, Heat, Nitro, Thunder, and PPV results. EDIT: LOL... Superstar, I once videotaped a match where I beat my cousin. I used Bischoff and eh used Goldberg. It lasted 35 minutes. I bet him that I'd win, and since he didn't know about the joystick kickout trick, I prevailed. Ah, memories.
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 An amazing tag team exists in Van Hammer and Stevie Ray. Their taunts go together perfectly when Hammer is in front, and the awesomeness of the Slapjack makes up for Hammer's Canadian Backbreaker. I just had a kickass 15 minute match using them against La Parka and Psychosis.

I have a BUNCH of people making their own stables etc all filtered through me as head booker. I have NOTEBOOKS of results and end of the season awards. The 64 games were the best but DOR2 has been fantastic since the SD games don't sim for shit. It a hell of alot better than on-line fantasy sports cuz there is at least something to watch. Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 I hate how you can't retry during Championship mode. I blazed through Cruiserweight with La Parka and had champion Ultimo on the outside for awhile. The count was up to 15, and he was out, but I wanted to win the honorable way, so I tried to whip him into the ring...and was too far away, so he ran into the pole. I tried to pick him up and whip him again and we both got counted out, ending it and bringing me back to the title screen. Fuck that.
Toshiaki Koala 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 Yeah, that's bullshit. I remember playing through CW with Malenko and getting to the last match before the championship, which was against La Parka. I had him beaten in about a minute but was intent on having a good match, so I allowed him to make a comeback... and then Disco ran in and cost me the match. Or something like that. I was mighty pissed off. They probably made it that way because the career mode is so short, at least compared to its successors, but that doesn't make it any less annoying. It does make it more satisfying when you finally win, though.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Could anyone understand what it was that Giant said during the opening cinema of WCW/nWo World Tour? All I could ever get was "I am sick and tired of you and the nWo..." then he screamed something that made zero sense. I'm glad that the move animations got better between the World Tour and Revenge. I always thought it was pretty obvious. I always heard, "I've had enough.. with the nWo... the fight is on!" its actually "I have had it up to my throat with the nWo, (some unintellegible yelling not unlike rocks imitation of show in later years) revenge still rules. wm 2000 is pretty cool(caw is awesome and you could customize your entrances which rocked), no mercy rules (especially the cool backstage areas and no loading times, and entrances being cut in half) except for the slowdown in tag matches. actually trying to play these game snow is weird, since I am so used to the ps2 wwe games. Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Ever have really good matches with all the wrong people? I swear, last night I played as Reese for no particular reason against Saturn, mostly just to see what Reese's moveset was like. I ended up having an 11 minute war that resulted in Reese being ranked for singles match points. Amazing.

Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 And why do all of the big guys do that stupid "I do a handstand on your leg before I crush it" move? God, I hate that.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 And why do all of the big guys do that stupid "I do a handstand on your leg before I crush it" move? God, I hate that. Because almost no big guys have a leg submission move, so it's thrown in there like a placeholder. Even if damaging a specific body part isn't really in your wrestler's strategy, it pays to have moves that wear down everything if you need to soften somebody up for a partner in a tag match, for instance. Usually head/body aren't a problem, but you need to usually toss in something like an armbreaker/kneebreaker to makes sure you're well rounded.
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Well, yeah, I know the psychology behind it, but I refuse to believe that guys like the Giant and Reese can even do a handstand in the first place.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 For some reason I always got way more traction out of World Tour and Revenge than I did WM2000 and No Mercy. My best match was when I was Juventud Guerrera and my friend was Goldberg. My friend dominated me for five minutes but made the mistake of giving me a Jackhammer on the arena floor instead of inside the ring so the match continued. I fought my way back with some high flying manuevers until finally I got my special up, nailed Goldberg with Juvi's DDT and then nailed the 450 for the victory. My friend was so irate it was hilarious and it was really cool as I knew the match was over because no one ever kicked out of Juvi's DDT + the 450. That DDT was quite the awesome setup move that's for sure.

Or Nash, or Kane. Yeah, that move is stupid. It would make more sense if they did the Wishbone submission, by standing on one ankle and cranking the opponents legs apart. And the other day I had a 30 minute war between Saturn and Test in a First Blood Match on No Mercy. NOBODY WOULD BLEED!!!
Guest spiritualbeggar Report post Posted June 7, 2006 There was a lot of Revenge played at my house. My friends, my brother, and myself played that game for years, and still do play it sparingly. The most notable match was me versus my friend Tim, I used Reese and he used Goldberg. I was the recipient of eighteen straight spears (with 18 replays). After the match, there was a "No Goldberg" rule applied to all matches. Goldberg and Reese have become a running gag with us, they'll never let me live it down.
