Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 Maybe Leena or Harley should figure out which lineman drafted by Oakland, Arizona, and/or Detroit will become the next big flop a la Robert Gallery... Well its not hard to figure out Joe Thomas is going to be the 1st O-Line man drafted and he will go in the Top 5 no question. I don't think he's going to flop though. HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 Hmm... Detroit does have WR Mike Furrey ya know OG Justin Blalock out of Texas is the only other "premiere" offensive line talent it seems. Other guys to keep an eye on OL wise: OT Levi Brown out of Penn State (6'5", 328 lbs.), OT Joe Staley out of Central Michigan (6'5", 300 lbs.), OG Josh Beekman out of Boston College (6'1", 321 lbs.), OG Ben Grubbs out of Auburn (6'3", 318 lbs.), and C Doug Datish out of Ohio State (6'5", 295 lbs.) Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 5, 2006 Maybe Leena or Harley should figure out which lineman drafted by Oakland, Arizona, and/or Detroit will become the next big flop a la Robert Gallery... Mike Williams was a bigger flop. What a little fucking cunt he is. At least Gallery willingly plays. As for the next bust, that's whoever Arizona picks. Most are assuming they'll take Joe Thomas as OL is definitely their weak spot, if they can stop winning meaningless games.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 The WV OL who are Seniors according to ESPN.com are as follows: Dan Mozes: 6'4", 290 lbs. and Damien Crissey: 6'4", 280 lbs. Stephen Maw (I recognize the name, is he your Center?) is a Junior but I don't know if he's a redshirt and thus eligible for the 2007 Draft.
MFer 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 Sam Baker from USC is also a good OL prospect. A few ppl say he's the best. I believe he's a junior.

Gallery got mentioned because I said O-Line, much like Ryan Leaf is the gold standard for QB busts. Mike Williams position as the top WR bust is questionable considering Charlie Rogers was #2 overall, got constantly injured, and was suspended for substance abuse. Williams, OTOH, is just having attitude / conditioning issues in comparison.
Guest Report post Posted December 5, 2006 Williams was a bad pick because he didn't play for a year. If he had played in the CFL or been allowed to return to college, then he would be a better player than he is right now. It's hard to get away from the habit of not doing anything. Williams WOULD have been allowed to return to USC if he'd returned money he'd been given by his agent. He'd have also had to re-enroll at USC in the meantime for either part of the Spring semester or the Summer semester. These ideas were apparently non-starters, which is why USC moved on without him. Guest Report post Posted December 6, 2006 Tom Brady Peyton Manning Carson Palmer (I have a hard time with the rest of the list) Drew Brees (Even harder) Matt Hasselbeck I want to say McNair, but he always gets hurt. Same for McNabb. I want to say Roethlisberger, but he has clearly shown this season that he's not one of them. Jake Delhomme is really close, and on second thought, maybe #5. I need a larger sample size to judge Phillip Rivers. Trent Green is pretty good too. By the way, that list is in order.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 1) Peyton Manning 2) Tom Brady 3) Carson Palmer (Like King, there's a big drop off here) 4) Donovon McNabb (I assume we're going by when healthy, here) 5) Drew Brees
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 1- Tom Brady 2- Peyton Manning 3- Carson Palmer 4- Matt Hasselbeck 5- Drew Brees McNabb would probably be 4th if I was sure he'd recover from this surgery, and Philip Rivers would be in the equation as well if I had a larger sample size to work with. naiwf 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 1. Tom Brady - 3 rings, and much more poise in the playoffs than #2. I'll take the winner over the stats guy in any sport. 2. Peyton Manning - He NEEDS to win a title to remove the label of postseason choke artist, although there's nothing wrong with being Dan Marino 2.0. 3. Carson Palmer - The best of the rest by a fairly large margin. 4. Drew Brees - No Gates, no LT, no problem. Still has a chance to set the single season mark for passing yards. He'll also probably be the runner up for MVP this year. On the Saints. No one would have believed you if you predicted that before the year started given that he was coming off of surgery. 5. Philip Rivers - This was more by process of elimination than anything else as McNabb doesn't strike me as a winner, while Rivers does. I don't rate Hasselbeck as highly as others do because he plays in a pressure free environment. No one else really hit me as being in the mix right now due to either injury issues or being a headcase.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 6, 2006 This season and this season alone: 1. Peyton Manning 2. Drew Brees 3. Carson Palmer 4. Tom Brady 5. Philip Rivers There might be a glaring omission. I did that pretty quickly.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 1. Tom Brady 2. Peyton Manning 3. Carson Palmer 4. Trent Green (consistently solid since 2002. Often forgotten in these kinds of talks) 5. Matt Hasselbeck 6. Drew Brees (needs a year or two more of good play for me) 7. Donovan McNabb (great when healthy but also has injury problems). 8. Brett Favre 9. David Carr (underperformer but look at his pass accuracy from 2004 - 2006. Only his lack of TDs hurts him). The guy has a 69.9% rate and 2,200 yards in 11 games this year. On pace for 3225 yards and 15 TD. His lack of weapons has hurt him a ton (Andre Johnson and who else? DD's been hurt all year) and oh yeah, only 7 INT. 10. Steve McNair Philip Rivers I need to see more than 1 year out of but he'll quickly be on my list if he continues to perform.

Nah, NOBODY would say that. The blindest of the blind are the ones saying "start Orton." You're missing such great local sports talk. "Come on youse guys he wins games fer us! You cen't deny dat!" USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 Thank god I'm missing that, even though I was initially in support of the Orton idea, I think at this point it's Rex or bust. If he busts, then look to get a new QB. Griese isn't the answer either, much to the chagrin of the people who thinks so. My Pro Bowl starting lineups on offense (without the linemen because I don't know): NFC: QB- Drew Brees HB- Frank Gore FB- ??? WR- Roy Williams WR- Steve Smith TE- Jason Witten AFC: QB- Peyton Manning HB- Ladainian Tomlinson FB- Lorenzo Neal WR- Chad Johnson WR- Reggie Wayne TE- Tony Gonzalez
Guest Report post Posted December 6, 2006 I'll do offense, because defense is at the back of my mind right now. AFC QB's: Manning, Brady, Palmer. Really simple. RB's: Larry Johnson, LT, TRAVIS HENRY WR's: Ocho Cinco, Houshmanzadeh, Javon Walker, Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne TE's: Gates, Heap, Winslow K: Keading P: Lechler NFC QB's: Brees, Hasselbeck, Romo (LAWL). Seriously, Bulger as the 3rd. RB's: McAllister, Gore, Steven Jackson WR's: Colston, Owens, Roy Williams, Torry Holt, Boldin. This is the only position where the NFC actually looks to have an advantage over the AFC. Depthwise, I mean. TE: Witten, Crumpler, Shockey K: Gramatica P: Feagles

Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 6, 2006 AFC QB: Manning, Palmer, Rivers. (But, Brady will get in over Rivers... and honorable mention for Damon Huard, who if he played all year, would be in.) RB: Tomlinson, L. Johnson, Parker. FB: Neal, I guess. WR: C. Johnson, Wayne, A. Johnson, Harrison, Lee Evans. (Bias over J. Walker.) TE: Gates, Gonzalez, Winslow III. NFC QB: Brees, McNabb, Bulger. (Vick to replace McNabb. Romo same as Damon Huard, but not as good.) RB: S. Jackson, Westbrook, GORE GORE GORE. WR: STEVE SMITH, D. Jackson, Driver, Holt, The Player. TE: Crumpler, Cooley, Shockey.
