Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 I've never discounted the Patriots, myself...all season long they've been my sleeper Superbowl pick. Belichick is too good of a coach and Brady is too good of a QB to discount.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Miami got the blueprint on how to beat the Patriots: obtain an audio tape of Brady calling plays at the line, and prepare for it. Patriots are one and done, I think, this year.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 13, 2006 I'm dreading a likely NE @ SD divisional round game. A matchup of those coaches is not good.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 I don't know. It looks like Jaguars might beat the Patriots at Foxboro, then they will be the ones to face the Chargers. At least I hope. I'm tired of the Patriots going deep each year.

Guest Legalise Drugs and Murder Report post Posted December 13, 2006 They can't be the only team that's doing that. Were I a head coach, I'd look for every way possible to cheat like that.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 13, 2006 I'm sure every team does the same thing... The blame goes to Belichick for not changing them up.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Apparently Nick Saban wanted Drew Brees, but the other guys in charge picked Culpepper. And the flack they get from the Culpepper signing has gotta be cancelled out by the "resurgence" of JOEY freakin' HARRINGTON.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 JOEY freakin' HARRINGTON. Can you believe that shit? Goes to show how horrible the Detriot Lions really are. The Dolphins really haven't been a BAD team over the least few seasons, just a few players away from getting back up there.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 13, 2006 While Miami has been winning with Harrington, it's not like he's playing great. Other than the Detroit game (which was national), he's been very average with his usual amount of bad throws.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Harrington has been more mobile than Culpepper. Daunte was taking too many sacks, and wasn't able to maneuver out of pressure. Harrington has been able to move around, and has been able to avoid being sacked. That's really the only difference between the 2.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Daunte was never healthy enough to play this year. Not only couldn't he move, but his leg was affecting his throws. That Buffalo game was sad.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Regardless of his personal performances, it's been enough that Miami wasn't being killed by his mistakes. Hell Rex Grossman's been much more hazardous to his team than Harrington has been.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Daunte was never healthy enough to play this year. Not only couldn't he move, but his leg was affecting his throws. That Buffalo game was sad. I always thought Culpepper came back a year to early. The guy is a mediocre quarterback when he even has his best strength, which is scrambling ability. I'm just trying to figure out why people thought he'd be greatness this year, when he had a very slow recovery from his injury. He needed another year off. Coming back this soon hurt him in the long run. I've gone with the Bears this whole year, as they're going to the Super Bowl, anyone else would be a disappointment, and I'm still sad from not getting a badass Bears/Steelers Super Bowl last year. Looks like this ain't the year either. I just truly think the Chargers are taking it this year, I can't even see Marty fucking up this team. I hope the Colts go after Gruden next year, so they can finally win their Super Bowl. I like what the Saints are doing this year, and I think if they continue to have great drafts like they had this year, they're going to be in 2 or 3 Super Bowls within the next ten years. Bengals just seem like they're going to be down the same route that the Colts have gone through in the playoffs.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 13, 2006 The system in MIN, along with Moss, heavily boosted Culpepper's value. The key is that he has to be able to run again, because he's just not a consistent QB. The way to win nowadays is to not make mistakes, and Daunte will never be that type. I badly want the Chargers to win, and they must.
teke184 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2006 As far as Saints drafting goes, they're pretty much set on offense in the immediate future, outside of getting a TE to replace oft-injured Ernie Conwell. The main thing would be to get depth on the defensive side, especially at DT, LB, and CB. I agree with your assessment about their SB chances over the course of a decade, as GM Mickey Loomis and the scouts know how to find talent in late rounds that gets overlooked by others. (From this draft alone, you have Marques Colston, starting G Jahri Evans, and key backup T Zach Strief, of which Strief and Colston were 7th Round picks and Evans a 4th rounder.) He's got the potential to replicate former Saints GM Jim Finks, who drafted three of the four "Dome Patrol" members (LBs Ricky Jackson, Vaughan Dunbar, and Pat Swilling), FB Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, RB Dalton Hilliard, and many other stars from the first big Saints run (1987 through 1992). Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 14, 2006 I badly want the Chargers to win, and they must. I agree, and the road they should take to get there should be by beating Cincinnati and then New Orleans in the Super Bowl. Those two games would be great for the league that's ultimately cared far too much about defense and time of possession, which we can blame the 2000 Ravens for, who had thrown out the idea that a good offense was necessary. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2006 The Chargers certainly appear to be the best team, but I just can't pick a Marty team to go the Super Bowl. The guy's simply blown so many chances in the past and I've been burned too many times.

Im sorry..but thats just terrible. If you win the Super Bowl without a good offense, you still won the fucking Super Bowl. Theres no asterix besides the Ravens winning Super Bowl XXXV because their offense sucked. And people will always remember the 2000 Ravens for having one of the best defenses ever that got them a Super Bowl win. Thats fine with me.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 14, 2006 The only comparable coach (as in non-SB winning coaches or multiple losers like Bud Grant and MARV LEVY XOXO) would be Chuck Knox, who's not getting in. But, Marty will likely end up getting many more wins than him. So, I don't know. I think he'd at least have to make one SB.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2006 I can understand letting a player into the HoF even if they failed to make the Super Bowl (there's several of those, actually), but I would never consider a coach who fails to reach it

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 14, 2006 The Chargers certainly appear to be the best team, but I just can't pick a Marty team to go the Super Bowl. The guy's simply blown so many chances in the past and I've been burned too many times. The same almost could've been said about Bill Cowher, though obviously not to the extent of Marty's Browns or Chiefs in the past. Vermeil had a bad luck streak going on for a while too. I think Marty will end up getting his. What are Marty Schottenheimer's Hall of Fame chances, if the Chargers win the Super Bowl? As said already, they're good with or without the Super Bowl. Marty + LT alone turned around the Chargers who were fighting with the Lions a few years back for being the NFL's worst team. Now the Raiders can fight the Lions for that dubious honor, although the Lions and Cardinals have been perennial favorites there. I badly want the Chargers to win, and they must. I agree, and the road they should take to get there should be by beating Cincinnati and then New Orleans in the Super Bowl. Okay, what the fuck does that have to do at all with anything I said? Where did I say they didn't deserve to win the Super Bowl that year? Where did I imply there should be an asterisk because their offense was the drizzling shits? All I said was that they ushered in a new era of copycat teams trying to follow that trend which has been bad for the league, and has probably led to a lot of the shitty rule changes (like the defensive pass contact emphasis). Stop being sucha homer and defending your team merely because I mentioned the Ravens when I wasn't even dissing that squad. That really was probably the best defense of all time, in a single season, statistically and on the field. That doesn't make it any less of a point that they did it without an offense and by controlling the clock.
