USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2007 Isn't he going to be like 30 by the time he plays the next season?
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2007 yes. He'll be a 30 year old corner who's INT totals are starting to drop and has never been a great tackler. The one positive for Bly is that he'll be playing on the other side of the field as Champ Bailey who will be covering the opposition's number one reciever. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2007 I hope the Jets go after Joey Porter. Then we can focus on getting a NT, probably after a CB in the draft.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted March 1, 2007 A THIRD ROUNDER for McGahee? Oh, you've got to be fucking kidding me. What a bargain. Someone (HEY, TED THOMPSON) better pounce on this quick. McGahee is far overvalued by the average football fan... and I'm a big fan of him. He was bad last year. He's not a big run threat anymore because his speed is gone. And A-Train appeared to run a lot harder. Plus, from day one, Willis never wanted to be in Buffalo. It's partly because the Bills aren't going to keep him anyway, but most in Buffalo would agree that he's not living up to his 1st round ability.
Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2007 via rotoworld - Broncos acquired CB Dre Bly for Tatum Bell, T George Foster, and a draft pick. It's believed to be a fifth-rounder. The deal becomes official Friday. No one works the trade market better than Mike Shanahan and GM Ted Sundquist. They got a Pro Bowl quality player at a position of need in exchange for spare parts they weren't going to use. Champ Bailey, Bly, and Dominique Foxworth will make a great corner trio, and according to the NFL Network, Bly has already been signed to a long-term deal. Sadly, the Broncos had to address the DB situation with the death of Darrant Williams.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted March 1, 2007 The Broncos have to make up for the loss of Nash, too. So, Shanarat will get a 4th "starting" RB.
MFer 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Well for once Millen actually made a move that makes sense. Detroit's O-line was horrible last year. I'm sure Foster is better than just about every tackle the Lions have. Bell provides insurance for Kevin Jones plus he's a home-run hitter, something Detroit desperately needs. This also gives the Lions more options with the #2 overall pick.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Cowboys release Drew Bledsoe and I suspect he'll just retire now. Vikings released Fred Smoot

You probably got pwned here... after all it's Shanarat and the strong Denver office vs. Matt Millen.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Bly has made 2 pro-bowl teams in his career from what I read and those came in the 04 and 05 Pro Bowls. With his speed diminishing and his ability to tackle also starting to go downhill I think it was a fair value trade. Denver filled a need in the short-term created by the untimely death of Darrent Williams while Detroit grabbed a back that can give them some carries until Kevin Jones gets healthy, a former first round OT that may work in a different scheme (remember, Shannahan's blocking schemes are some of the most complex in the league. Not everybody can do it), and a 5th round pick in a year that has a very deep draft as far as the middle rounds go.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 If anything, I think Denver got the worst end of the trade. Though I don't like giving up more than one thing for a 30+ year old player, especially a slightly-above average one.
MFer 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Plus Bly wasn't really a Marinelli guy and the fans were all over him after he threw Joey Harrington under the bus a couple years ago (although Tatum is no saint either). I think it'll work out.

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Jake Plummer has been traded to the Bucs, for like a 4th round pick.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Profootballtalk is saying Plummer is retiring instead. It's a pretty good source for news and rumors, even with that retarded Turd Watch and the various vendettas that the writers have. Bly is still one of the best man corners in the league. He might not fit in Detroit's D, but he's still insanely valuable to teams like Denver and Washington. I think Detroit could have gotten a lot more out of Washington than Denver, and they probably should have concentrated in that direction.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 via rotoworld - ESPN Radio reports that the Broncos have agreed to a deal with Daniel Graham on a deal that includes a $10 million signing bonus. Sad to see him go as he was a classy guy and just went out and did his job. It is however alot to pay for a TE that's primary use is blocking.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Apparently the Moss to Green Bay rumor is that the Raiders were asking for a first round pick from Green Bay, and Green Bay countered with offering Aaron Rodgers. This is kind of interesting. Unless Green Bay is going to be looking at a new "heir to the throne" quarterback in the first round, maybe this could mean they'll be going for David Carr? If you had asked me four years ago if I'd ever see Moss in a Green Bay uniform, I would've thought you were nuts. I still don't think (and kind of hope now that I've realized Moss is 30) Green Bay makes the deal go through.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I still don't understand that Green Bay/Moss thing. Green Bay has needs other than WR, and it's not like Donald Driver was stinking it up last year. Why spend 9 million or whatever on Moss? For Moss, it doesn't make sense either. He's aging and he hasn't won, why go to Green Bay? It's not like they're one piece away from a championship. I've seen some Moss to New England rumors, and that makes a lot more sense. That Pats could use a real WR, they've shown that they can bring in malcontents and reform them (Corey Dillon), and they are a definite contender. The other Moss rumor has him going to the Jags, possibly for Byron Leftwich. Immobile Byron would get killed behind that garbage Raiders O-line.

That's nothing, Atlanta signed Ovie Mughelli to a 6-year $18 million deal with a $5 million signing bonus including. When I played football, fullback was my main position and I know he's a very good blocker, but damn that's a lotta money being thrown at him, especially when they already had Justin Griffith. Shit that's a lot more money than Lorenzo Neal makes.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 listening to an interview conducted on WEEI this morning where the guest was Adam Schefter. He's saying that from everything he's heard around the league that Adalius Thomas will be a New England Patriot within the next 24-48hrs. Says Joey Porter will most likely end up in Cinci

Though I don't like giving up more than one thing for a 30+ year old player, especially a slightly-above average one. Bell has been injury-prone and is soft. Foster is OK, but the Broncos had no use for him. From Denver's perspective, this is an even trade at worst.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) I've seen some Moss to New England rumors, and that makes a lot more sense. That Pats could use a real WR, they've shown that they can bring in malcontents and reform them (Corey Dillon), and they are a definite contender. Moss would be a horrid fit in New England. It was Dillon's show in '04, so he was a model citizen. Once he saw his playing time cut this year, we saw the old Corey come back. Moss won't get 100+ receptions because that is not how they run the offense over there and they aren't going to change that philosophy for one player, regardless of his skills. Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 via rotoworld - Redskins signed linebacker London Fletcher-Baker to a five-year, $25 million contract. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 he's being compared alot to Larry Johnson (another Penn St. product) in terms of bruiser back capabilities...it just doesn't seem like he can break away to the outside very well at the moment. Larry Johnson couldn't do that either when he first hit the NFL though. The Ravens need a durable guy that can carry the ball 25-30 times a game and from everything Ive heard, he's the top guy in the draft for that need.

NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Redskins lost Dockery via Free Agency to the Bills, but for once the Skins FO did the RIGHT thing in not offering him a ridiculous contract. No Way Dockery is worth that much..... Also, rumors out of DC are that Fred Smoot has signed and will return to the Redskins. I am happy. Smoot wasn't worth the hype he received when he became a FA two years ago, but he is a very good fit for Greg Williams's defensive scheme, and he flourished in it while here. Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted March 3, 2007 The Bills got Dockery and Walker from the Raiders. I'm not sure if these are improvements... but, at least the Bills are attempting to buy some OL talent.
