Open the Muggy Gate Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 That song makes stars and stripes shoot from my asshole while bald eagles flap their wings inside my tummy. THIS IS OUR POST
Guest Felonies! Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 I love Chevy, I've been a Chevy guy since birth until this car (only because we got a deal on a Dodge), but god damn whoever in their ad agency who conceptualized these commercials needs to be fired. First the West Coast being forest fires and then the Dixie Highway being flooded by Katrina....smart let's sell trucks by playing on images that are seen as downers. I think we went over this in a baseball thread, but what they were going for was that whenever there has been adversity in recent American history, Chevy has been there to carry the weight and get America through the hard times. Now this explains why they're driving down a road to erect a house, but I'm still trying to forge a connection--or at least a positive one--between pickup trucks and the civil rights movement. Furthermore, there was supposed to be a clip of the A-Bomb in there to subliminally show what ought to happen to those slanty-eyed Japs encroachin' on pickup trucks. This is OUR country, not theirs. Go watch fetish porn and commit ritual suicide.
Der Kommissar Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 I went with the Chevy. I only watched that one once, and it managed to annoy the hell out of me. I can only imagine how it is for people who see it regularly. It's not to say that I didn't think long and hard about choosing the "Is it Monday yet? I want the weekend to be over, so I can go back to work and watch Wallace/Walter become this generation's Montana/Marino on Monday Night Football!" commercials. To be fair, though, Nothing will top the "OMG! A cancer...caused by a virus?!? I have to tell someone!" commercials for me. I have seen that one at least a hundred times, by now. I am guessing everyone in America now knows that there is a cancer that could be caused by a virus, so, please feel free to stop playing these awful commercials now.
Guest Paul Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 This is our country wins, hands down.
Just John Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 For religion to forgive And try to understand The other people of this world Good lord. As bad as these commercials are, at least they haven't run one with this part.
CanadianGuitarist Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 King, while I don't recall seeing the commercial....are those really the fucking lyrics? My vote is pending on your response. Those Bud Light are brutal...have you ever seen anyone in your life say "Save The Dolphins?" Fur is murder would have been at least semi-plausible with six or seven NFL team nicknames having fur. I forget who mentioned it, but Bud Light brewed in Canada and Bud Light brewed in the States aren't the same (or at least that holds true for Budweiser). Border restrictions notwithstanding, how could Bud Light ads have fallen so drastically? Anyone remember the ones from the 80's with Bob Eucker and Rodney, among others? That's a stupid question, I'm sure anyone here over 18 remembers them.
J.B. Buzzkill Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 I'm from fucking Indiana. You people don't know what being sick of John Cougar Menstrualcramp is.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 ^Dude knows what I'm talking about. Many of you out there across the USA might have a radio station that does a little gimmick called "Mandatory Metallica" where they rattle off a few metallica tracks in a row every night/every week/whatever. There was a station up here that did Mandatory MELLENCAMP. And it was like half a fuck hour long.
Guest Felonies! Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 97.9 The Loop used to do Mandatory Metallica at 10 every weeknight, but I think they discontinued it, along with Get The Led Out.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 those Monday Night Football ads are really getting on my fucking nerves. "Only 3 more days before Deion Branch goes against Randy Moss". I'M SO THERE! At least they could try to hype up a 1-on-1 player match up of two guys who might actually be on the field at the same time during during the game besides the coin toss.
Black Lushus Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 97.9 The Loop used to do Mandatory Metallica at 10 every weeknight, but I think they discontinued it, along with Get The Led Out. we have a station here that does Daily Nirvana at 5pm every day and they jsut started in with the Daily Metallica stuff, just not sure what time that is.
