Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 But Family Guy has Adam West as their mayor. That automatically means Family Guy is better than the Simpsons.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 The Simpsons has the repeated celebrity appearances, although lately the celebs have been doing voices for unique characters instead of just showing up in springfield as themselves for no reason at all. Guest Paul Report post Posted November 24, 2006 I like both versions...but, the US version has been on longer and gone through more BS due to this, so, it wins.
Murmuring Beast 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2006 Youth N Asia, stop posting, seriously. Murmuring Beast, find a laxitive that works for you, seriously. HO HO HO! The UK version is infinitely better, without having seen the US one. The Office is the best thing ever on television. Ricky Gervais is a God.

SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2006 I think everyone who says something isn't funny must give 2 examples of things they do find funny, so others can have the same pleasure of tearing down their opinions. For example, I'd really love to find out that one of the people who dislikes "The Office" or "Arrested Development" is secretly a fan of "Two and a Half Men." That way we can at least have the collective pleasure of pointing, laughing, and calling that person an idiot.

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2006 2 and 1/2 men, like it's predecessor (Raymond) gets good ratings despite no real visible fanbase. I suspect the same people that watch and apparently enjoy 2 and 1/2 are the same people who brought Creed and read John Grisham.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 The Alan Partridge comparison was way off. Partridge wasn't an asshole to everyone, only his assistant Lynne and Michael, who he could exploit. His emotional collapse when in a real world situation or around strangers was the funny part, cos it knocked down this desperate mini-empire he'd created after his career collapsed. Crucially, David Brent's character depends on his unfailing ability to have the last word and turn arguments his way with his cringeworthy management-speak rhetoric. The two shows were in big competition at one stage, one after the other in the schedule, which led to them being faced off against eachother in the public eye, but they're very different shows. Alan Partridge's character evolution from The Day Today, To Knowing Me Knowing You, to I'm Alan Partridge is something that's often ignored, I think.
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 I thought it was generally agreed upon that the American version has grown beyond any comparisons to the original. Hell, even compare American Season 1 (especially the pilot) to seasons 2 and 3--they're very different, and not just because Steve Carell lost weight and changed his hairstyle. Guest Felonies! Report post Posted November 27, 2006 I think Steve got hair plugs. I just got season 1 the other day. Were they all wearing too much makeup or something? Jim looks like he has lipstick on. EDIT: No. That was just the bad TV I was watching it on at home. Everyone looks normal on the laptop. Say, you know what, I don't like B.J. Novak's character at all. There are moments he's involved in that are funny, but I just can't find a reason to get behind him like I can with similarly miserable people there. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...t&p=2369790 I think "The War at Home" and "Til Death" are two of the better "live action" sitcoms on TV right now, personally. Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 I think we're supposed to feel bad for Ryan because he was assigned to Dunder-Mifflin by the temp agency, so he didn't really have a say in the matter like everyone else. But that goes out the window now that he works full time. B.J. Novak the writer >>>> the actor, with stuff like "Diversity Day," "Sexual Harassment," and "Boys and Girls." Usually the best Ryan moments come with Michael's obsession with him, anyway (along with Ryan's golden reactions and looks).
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted November 27, 2006 Maybe he's just not supposed to be a sympathetic character, since that's covered by Jim, Pam, and even Michael in certain situations. I mean, we're all pullin' for Jim.
