CanadianChris Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 For the record, Kahran PM'd me his picks on Dec 13 2006, 06:13 PM, so put to rest any "copying" that went on with this matchup (I'm not accusing you of thinking that, mind you, because I know you're not; I just wanted to clear this up). This is the second or third time this has happened this season, and I don't know what to do in order to make these contests more competitive. When this contest was a straight-up pick 'em, these 1-2 matchup differences were much greater, hence the switch over to point spreads. You mentioned in a previous thread about adding over/unders, etc., which is a good idea and one I've thought of as well, but 1) it would take away from the spirit of actually picking games, in my opinion, and 2) I don't want everyone to have to pick a variety of other predictions every week that have nothing to do with which teams will win/cover the spread. Like I've said before, any ideas will be considered; that's why whenever I have an idea for this contest I like to put it up to a vote because I'd rather have thirty-three perspectives on the league than just one. I don't think it's that big a deal. Two or three times a season is nothing compared to the 30-40 times it probably happened without point spreads (at least) . Sometimes people are just going to agree on everything -- there's no much you can do about it.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 16, 2006 Author Report Posted December 16, 2006 You're right, and I like to think rather that rather than focusing on the one game two people differed on, more attention should be paid to, in these instances, the 8-12 that they agreed upon that turn out to be incorrectly picked. But there's nothing wrong with looking for ways to improve.
Prime Time Andrew Doyle Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 I'll take the ATL for the saturday game
fazzle Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Oh, I know. I saw that he had "picks PMed" by his name before I made my picks. Besides, if he was gonna copy someone's picks, why the hell would it be MINE?
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 16, 2006 Author Report Posted December 16, 2006 Good point. And because I'm at work doing actual ... well, work, I will not be able to display picks in time for the DAL/ATL game. For those who don't know what your opponent's picks are, just hope your team wins/covers.
Lightning Flik Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I'm just more concerned that my opponent didn't choose anything so wondering what his EPs are, if he had any. ...I'd prefer he didn't. ;; But that's hopeful wishing.
CanadianChris Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 It's very possible we could end up with a 4-way tie at 7-7 in the AFC West after this week.
Guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I am the anti-Michael Vick. The two games that were decided already were the two differing picks that I was worried about, but everything's turned to gold so far, so why should it stop?
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 The listings within each won/loss bracket don't mean anything. I'm not going to try and figure out regular season tie-breakers until the last week or so. I also didn't factor in divisional records into the "Division Leader" games remaining yet. AFC Division Leaders SFA Jack -- two game lead in division Always Pissed Off -- three game lead Bob Barron -- half-game lead, or something like that Smues -- a lead in this division doesn't mean shit Wild Card 7-5-1 Kahran Ramsus 7-6 Prime Time Andrew Doyle Cuban Linx Alfdogg 6-6-1 nl-asshole 6-7 Gert T Bored Porter Canadian Chris 5-7-1 Teke King PK 4-9 Spaceman Spiff NFC Division Leaders Harley Quinn -- half-game lead, or something like that Bravesfan -- one game lead King of the 909 -- two game lead Vern Gagne -- two game lead Wild Card 8-5 Danville Wrestling Starvenger 7-6 Vitamin X 6-7 Human Fly 5-7-1 Cena's Writer 5-8 Cartman Hawk 34 Lightning Flik C Dubya Canadian Guitarist 4-9 Agent of Oblibion Fazzle

kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 Deadine has come and gone. Seattle is using EPs.
Lightning Flik Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Bloody hades, we're like opposite for like every damn game. ;; I don't know if I should like that or not.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Alf ties up with Tennessee winning over Jacksonville "One week we're awesome, next we suck" Jaguars.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 If Eagles hold on, this comes down to Alf and my score-guessing acumen to determine the win.
CanadianChris Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Still a very real possibility of that four-way tie. We just need San Diego to cover, Cincinnati to cover, and TLS to win the tiebreaker.
alfdogg Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Oh shit, this is going to end up a tie.
CanadianChris Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Oh shit, this is going to end up a tie. I certainly hope so.
CanadianChris Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Squeaked out a nice bounceback win. I'm still alive, but I need help -- starting with the Bengals beating the Colts tomorrow night.
CanadianGuitarist Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I'm still alive, but I need help -- starting with the Bengals beating the Colts tomorrow night. Me too. I had a 3-1 lead at one point today, but my match-up this week comes down to Cincy not losing by more than 3.5 tomorrow. Your win over my division leader, however, gives me a little hope.
HarleyQuinn Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 My record against the NFC East continues to bail me out...whoo!
CanadianChris Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 I could really have done with a Cincy cover, but I'm still alive for the division. Just need two wins, two losses by Smues, and a loss by alfdogg. Piece of cake.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 19, 2006 Author Report Posted December 19, 2006 Only thing updated is won/loss records. Guest Smues Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 A win next week and I clinch the West, a loss and it's pretty much Alf's.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 Funny to say that this tie pretty much killed my chances of getting into the playoffs.
Lightning Flik Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 Ok am I 6-8 or 5-9 kkk? You have my record in the standings as 6-8, but I'm 5-9 in the playoff picture. No, I haven't bothered to do up the calculations as I don't wanna spoil the surprise. Its amazing that if I am 6-8, there's an outside chance I could possibly win my division and still make the playoffs.
