Gary Floyd Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 For me, Faith, Pornography, and The Head At The Door are the best Cure albums, and in that order. I agree with Edwin that Disintigration is a bit too long. Still a good album though.
Zorin Industries Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I'd go Pornography, Boys Don't Cry and Faith, in that order. Boys Don't Cry gets second purely for Fire In Cairo, my favourite Cure song and in my top five songs ever.
Wyld Cannon Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 Anytime i read "A Night Like This" my brain automatically thinks of the James Iha version instead of the Cure version, even though I know and like the Cure version better. But James' stupid deep voice always trumps it. Eh, its not that bad but its weird.
Dobbs 3K Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 One overlooked song that I really liked is "Cut Here" on their best of album.
vivalaultra Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I agree with the above post. "Cut Here" is like...my 3rd or 4th favorite Cure song behind "Pictures of You" and a few others. Really good song, there.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I've long believed that there should be a video for "Mint Car" that involves Robert Smith rolling around in a field with a bunch of puppies.
Ginger Snaps Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 One overlooked song that I really liked is "Cut Here" on their best of album. Also, 'Lullaby' gets a bit overlooked.
Red Baron Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 One overlooked song that I really liked is "Cut Here" on their best of album. Also, 'Lullaby' gets a bit overlooked. No it doesn't.

Red Baron Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 So do I. I think it gets a fair decent shake on the album, probably more so than Fascination Street.
Red Baron Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Killing an Arab is so random for the Cure.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Boys Don't Cry sounds a lot like Boy, especially those solitary ringing guitar notes on "10.15 Saturday Night."
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 So Seventeen Seconds is the most boring album ever. "A Forest," aside.
RepoMan Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 I tend to associate all my music with either winter or summer, unless sometimes something I bought in the summer works a lot better with the winter.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Wrong thread, bro. So, Cure fans, what about Seventeen Seconds? Such a mechanical, lugubrious affair. And deceiving! It's only 35 minutes, but it felt at least twice that.
Wyld Cannon Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 i think people overlook the catchiness of Six Different Ways. which is now going to be stuck in my head all day.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 I liked Boys Don't Cry more than Disintegration at first, but the latter grew on me. Too much content. I wasn't ready. All the snappy little post-punk songs on Boys Don't Cry are much more palatable on the first listen. Good repeat value, too. It's a good album, or rather American compilation.
Zorin Industries Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Wrong thread, bro. So, Cure fans, what about Seventeen Seconds? Such a mechanical, lugubrious affair. And deceiving! It's only 35 minutes, but it felt at least twice that. Its been a long time since I listened to Seventeen Seconds all the way through, I do like a Forest and Play For Today though. I'll probably give it another listen when i'm around town tomorrow and see how it sounds as a whole.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Wrong thread, bro. So, Cure fans, what about Seventeen Seconds? Such a mechanical, lugubrious affair. And deceiving! It's only 35 minutes, but it felt at least twice that. It's a mood piece. It's quite enjoyable if you're in the right frame of mind for it. But I can definitely see where it becomes a chore otherwise.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Fair enough, but I can dig and do enjoy a lot of sad bastard music. This one is, as you said, a chore.

I got about 30 seconds into Secrets when I thought "Bollocks to this, i'm just going to listen to Faith again" I can listen to the odd song on its own, but as a full piece its a hard slog.
dubq Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 Did anyone like the newest self titled album? It's probably one of the few Cure cd's where I never skip a single song. It's good from start to finish, IMO.
PLAGIARISM! Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 I'm becoming less sure about this band as time goes on, but I've come to like Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me more and more.
