OAO ECW Thread for 12/19/06

Recommended Posts

I'm predicting ratings ot 1.4 or 1.5 tops as a fair number of old school ECW fans were hanging on for Heyman's sake. TNA should take note of this weeks ratings, if it is 0.5 less than the average, could Heyman bring 0.3 ratings bump to TNA?? That would be more than Sting, Christian or Angle brought...

They won't bring in Heyman......they just rehired Russo, they won't fuck with it again till the ratings start falling.

No way, Paul E. goes to TNA remember he hates the network Spike tv and if he does he will do something really stupid like have the Zombie vs Sharkboy go 20 minutes or make comments about SLAMMING SATURDAY NITES!

I think Russo will get burnt out rather quickly. It's just too bad they are hotshotting Joe vs Angle. Where would Dixie turn to should Russo decide he's had enough? Bischoff or Heyman would be the only name options left.

Does Spike still have the same braintrust running it that ran it when ECW was there??

I figure in that Lashley/RVD match Test will end up doing a run in or something, then Rob gets beat down and we get the hoss stare down to end the show with Lashley and Test. Might be the best thing really. At least it doesn't job RVD out and Test can get killed at the Rumble, then we get Lashley vs. RVD at WM.

Even if RVD is leaving next summer, they gotta eventually do RVD vs. Punk for the title. If Punk is going to win the belt it pretty much has to be from RVD in my book. He's the only guy with that kind of cred to give Punk. Who would give a shit if Punk beat Lashley or Test for the title?

Tonight's show wasn't bad. They seemed to pack a lot into an hour. I wonder if they actually used the real votes from the fans because Test only got 18% and if it was fixed, you'd think either Test would win, or it would be a hell of a lot closer....lol. RVD is still the cream of the crop of ECW according to the fans. Please listen Vince.

I'll never get why wrestlers being pinned, look at the ref's hands (When not doing the long two count spot) You'd think they'd just kick out after they heard the second one, without having to watch his hands...

Wrestlers do this for two reasons.

1. To make eye contact with the Ref to let the ref know they're not ko'ed or out of it.

2. So "close counts" can be that much closer.

I was not impressed with the ECW show tonight. I've seen better WCW Thunder shows, and that's saying a lot.

Test is horrible. He either needs to lay off the juice, or see someone for his acne. He's slow, and boring, which isn't a good combination to have, unless you have Jericho level charisma, which he doesn't.

The main event was boring. All three seemed to be moving around in slow motion for most of the match. Sabu needs to retire, as soon as possible.

They need to team Holly and Kennedy up. That'd be an interesting tag team.

You could tell how the votes were going to tell out though. Even using fixed votes (which I assume they did, just picking random numbers) there was obviously no way Test would win. He's the heel, he's not going to win a fan vote. Fixed or not.

Also, why was the Moore/Great Khali match thrown out if Dreamber attacked the Arabic dude?

I think that Khali got the pin on Moore, but the camera was focused on Dreamer and Daivari.

Next week (12/26) is "Best of 2006: RVD the Whole F'N Show".

it needs the proper subtitle.

I can't imagine them putting RVD over Lashley right now, since Lashley is their pet project, it seems.

If he was that damn good why isn't he on Raw feuding with HHH or the Smackdown Heavyweight Champion?

Even though overall the WWECW has been average at best, there have been plenty of good matches they can single out for a good, entertaining One hour show.

As far as RVD/Lashley goes in two weeks, it is almost guaranteed that Test runs in because he feels he deserved the title shot since he won the Triple Threat Match.

Yeah, Mike grasps Booking 101. No way do they do a clean finish in that RVD/Lashley match. Test runs in, maybe they do another #1 contender match and then do the dreaded Lashley/Test match at the Rumble. Then they can do RVD/Lashley at WM, with RVD winning it in his home state. Then he can feud with Punk culminating in Punk winning the title from Van Dam at ONS 3, in what turns out to be RVD's last match in WWE/ECW. Anyone with sanity would book this. Hell, anyone insane would book it too.

RVD really didn't beat Sabu in this vote by all that much. He had 45% to Sabu's 37%, which isn't a squash. I thought it would be more like RVD 60%, Sabu 25%, and Test 15%.

I just don't get what their doing with Test.

Test is a fantastic prick heel. He's unlikeable, and he's effective at being a dick. Why not give up on this "HE'S SO STRONG!" push, and instead have him be a cheating bastard like Edge? He'd be way more effective that way. He's great at getting people to dislike him that way. He's not really that great at getting people to dislike him as a generic big bad guy.

If WWE would play up his strengths, he could be a good main level guy...but they won't. So I guess it's a moot point.

I agree completely. Test plays the dick heel real well, I think he has fun doing it. I went to one of the ECW house shows a couple months back and Test was one of the main highlights.

Before the show even started, waiting outside for the doors to open, there were very few people around and the wrestlers had to drive by the entrance, so all these wrestlers were stopping to sign where most guys drive in. All these people were camped out in front of the driveway when this truck comes flying up slamming on the horn. It was Test with Kelly, he rolls down the window and shouts "Outta the way, ya marks!" It was really funny. After he parked, all people were calling him over and he made some smarmy comment instead of coming over. You could tell he wasn't completely serious, but he was having fun being in character. Then, during the show, when all there were some Test is Gay or something chants, and he grabs the mic and starts saying how all these people can say that because while they are buying the Diva merchandise, he's banging them. It was pretty classic. And it was Test. I say let him run as the dick heel and it could lead to some fun stuff happening.

I remember reading, at an ECW house show, the fans started chanting "He's on Steroids" at Test.

His response to their chant? He screamed out "SO?!". Now that's just awesome.

It just seems that WWE just sees him as a big, powerful guy and that's how he's gonna be pushed. He should be almost a chicken heel, mock the opponents, cheat his ass off...All that good stuff, because when he's actually DONE it, it's worked out very well.

Then again, that goes for so much of the WWE's roster. Just let them be themselves, and they'd have so many popular wrestlers. It's sad.

Well considering they are pushing Lashley as the bigger than life strong-man, maybe they are trying to push Test like that as well, so when they face off at the rumble it will be like two equally strong dudes colliding. Not that I agree with these decisions what-so-ever, but I am just trying to think like a McMahon.

The Test/RVD match from awhile ago was pretty good because they worked the match correctly. Test would use his strength to counter RVD's agility and vice versa. Whenever you thought RVD had the match over with, Test would use his strength to counter. If THAT is the Test we could get on a weekly basis, then I wouldn't have much to complain about. Hell his prickish promo this past week explaining why the fans should vote for him was actually pretty good.

So I'm predicting a few things from the Lashley vs RVD match.

1. Lashley becomes heel after RVD beats him.

2. RVD somehow turns heel.

3. Test runs in and does something to make it a 3 way or makes it so RVD is screwed out of the title AGAIN! and some how it becomes Test vs Lashely with RVD being outed somehow.

4. RVD wins the title.

I predict Money-in-the-bank match at Mania with Lashley, Test, RVD, Sabu, Holly, Punk, Regal, Cade. Lance Garrison Cade who will simply go by LGC in the year 2007 will win the match and the ECW belt because it does not make sense nor is it what the fans want but bawh gawd its going to happen no matter what cause LGC is a blue chipper and the future of the business!

How would Lashley (or RVD, or Test, depending on who has the belt) even be in a MITB match? The champion is kinda the guy you win a MITB to get to. And why would the winner of the MITB even want a shot at the ECW title? If I'm CM Punk and I win it I just say "Fuck this ECW belt, I want an actual title."

Call me crazy, but I can see them mentioning this stuff with RVD refusing to go to Iraq in the storyline. Lashley can say he doesn't respect RVD because he refused to go, RVD can say it is dangerous and a bunch of BS. I think it would end up being an uncomfortable storyline though, since a lot of people likely wouldn't want to boo RVD over not wanting to go into a war zone.

I always thought they totally missed the boat when Test was with Stacy Keibler. They were trying to push him as a guy with a ditzy girlfriend. What they should have done is pushed him as a total asshole who had the hot babe. Everybody knows a sweet, beautiful girl who is dating a total loser, and wonders what the fuck she sees in him. Just have Test flaunt that he had Stacy and show him being a miserable prick to her, and he would have made a great heel.

Well Coach as the established personal assistant secretary to the wresting promoter god himself, Mr. McMahon, will strip the belt from the champion in the spirit of fairness because all of the screw jobs finishes from everyone involved. Crazy, the fans don't give a damn about politics unless they can chant USA! USA! USA! for no reason other than to get themselves over.

So you are insinuating that Coach is the man currently running ECW? If so, I really feel sorry for the guy. Incidentally, who IS running ECW at this point? Storywise I mean.
