Special K Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 One could argue that Sid's title win over Michaels was the prologue to the "Attitude Era", fans choosing who they LIKE to cheer for over the oushed babyfaces. Very, very astute observation. May be the start of the whole tweener phenomenon. As a kid, first watching wrestling, I hated Shawn Michaels with a freakin' passion. Of course Vince bellowing "YES FOLKS HE'S a REAL MAN's MAN!!!" made me hate him more. Maybe I liked the heels too much, Rick Rude was (and still is) my favorite wrestler. That's probably the only reason I liked Bret Hart, and cheered when he beat Diesel, dirty (at the time) though it may have been.

Skyscrapers Crowd, as usual, is shitting on Shane & Johnny. Sid's doing his cocky "on one knee" gesture with both his hands asking the crowd to bring the noise. They go crazy for the young Sid. Is it because they hate the Dudes (see heel Freebirds, Havoc '89, probably the loudest pop ever for a heel win)... Sid tags in Danny Spivey. Crowd lets out a HUGE "BOOOOOOOOOO...." followed by "WE WANT SID! WE WANT SID!" I have NEVER heard a crowd react so negatively to the "less popular" partner being tagged in. Spivey hits some moves and they just sit there, pleading for Sid to be tagged in. BTW, Sid and Spivey also dominate the 2-ring "Triple Crown Battle Royal" that starts off this show. 19 battle royals were held. 14 winners (some won more than one) met in a two-ring, throw-the-guy to ring 2, then to the floor style match. Sid wins Ring #1, last eliminating Brian Pillman. Spivey wins Ring #2, last eliminating Steve Williams. Manager Teddy Long (WITH HAIR!) decides they'll split the prize money. TON of talent in the ring for it. In all there was: Sid Vicious, Dan Spivey, Steve Williams, Terry Gordy, Scott Hall, Ranger Ross, Ron Simmons, Mike Rotunda, Kevin Sullivan, Rick Steiner, Scott Steiner, Bill Irwin, Brian Pillman, and Eddie Gilbert. (Which leads one to wonder...How the hell did Ranger Ross and Bill Irwin, as well as the young jobbers Scott Hall and Ron Simmons, win a battle royal on the Bash tour?)

Slayer Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 Sid may not have been great in the ring (though his kip-up was amazing), but I always thought he was entertaining, whether through his interviews, in-ring mannerisms or out-of-ring incidents (stabby stabby)

I assume there are traders out there that have these shows burned, I'd assume.
