I'm glad to see Rocky Balboa finished in the Top 5 for a second week. Way better than any Rocky movie starring a 60 year old Stallone has any right to be.

And Mike Tyson's cameo was hilarious.

I'm kinda shocked that Dreamgirls isn't number 1. With all the hype around it, You would think Jennifer Hudson was the second coming of oprah or something.

To be fair, Dreamgirls was in something like a quarter of the theatres Night of The Museum was at (Dreamgirls was in 849, Night at The Museum was at 3768). So the fact that it made $15 mill in a weekend is pretty amazing.

I don't think Dreamgirls is opening wide for another week or two. Weird.

But yeah, 15 mill in 849 theatres is really fucking good.

I read an article about the film's marketing where they're trying to make it seem like an event. Like a rock concert's coming to town. So far, I think it's worked.

Well, I think the deal with Dreamgirls is that they wanted it out in enough theaters to generate buzz for the Oscars, but wanted it in enough to make some $$.

Is anyone a bigger box office draw than Ben Stiller? Man, I'd put his box office results of the past few years up against anyone.

Hanks, Smith, Cruise, Carrey and Sandler are bigger modern draws. Ferell, Owen Wilson, Brad Pitt and Depp are right up there as well.

Stiller tends to do well with co-stars like Wilson but has a couple bombs of his own (Duplex, Envy). You'll make money with him with the right co-stars but the bank stars are the aforementioned Smith, Hanks, Cruise, Carrey, Sandler group.

Sandler has had a couple of films that didn't draw too well though (Little Nicky, Spanglish, Punch Drunk Love...though that one wasn't really meant to).

I was mostly referring to Stiller from 2003 till now. And yeah, I'm not sure how much he can draw in a flat out starring vehicle since he usually has some sort of costar.

I think Reign On Me should be a great test for Sandler, as it's the first major drama he's done (I believe Spanglish was just a really bad romantic movie, I don't know, never saw it) that I think has the intention of making money, while Punch-Drunk was a indie flick.

Have to love people talking about something as if it's fact and admitting they don't know what they're talking about.

Firstly, Spanglish is pretty good movie. Secondly, I'd say it's a dramedy. Thirdly, Sandler isn't even the lead in the movie. Regardless of who received top billing, Paz Vega is most definitely the lead. So it's not really an "Adam Sandler movie".

The way I see someone as a draw is if their movies make atleast $100 million. That is the make or break number, to me. And we are only talking about US money here, since that is what we report every week.

First off, Depp has had four movies that have done over $100 million.(Platoon doesn't count) And two of them have the name Pirates in them. He isn't a huge draw just yet. Remember, before Pirates Depp was considered the guy who couldn't draw.

And Brad Pitt isn't a draw either. The movies where he was the star and were marketed around him that made a lot: Mr. and Mrs Smith, Troy and Se7en. The Ocean's don't count because there were 10034054949 big actors in those movies and Interview with a Vampire was Cruise's movie. He has only been in 6 movies that have grossed over $100 million. And only 3 of those were "his" movies.

Ferell's numbers have been up and down right now.

Owen Wilson? A draw? No. He has one movie over $100 millon where he was the star. Stasky and Hutch did well, so I'll give you two. But he is no where near a draw yet.

Unlike Sandler, who has had 7 movies that have made over $100 million where he is the star. Cruise has had 14. Hank has had 10. (I am not counting Toy Stories or Polar because the cartoon itself was the draw.) Gibson was a draw, but I am not sure about anymore. And so is Smith and Carrey, but I don't want to look up their numbers.

Basically, the only guys who are top draws are: Cruise, Hanks, Carrey, Sandler, Smith and Gibson.

I am sure Barron will disagree with me here, so yeah.
