Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 Children of Men and The Departed are my two faves, each on a level well above anything else I saw. The Descent was fantastic too. Hostel was hilarious and I've come to enjoy seeing it whenever I get the chance. Borat was also hilarious, but was supposed to be, so kudos on that. I liked Hard Candy an awful lot, but I've gone a little soft on it after thinking about how I would have preferred it to be a bit more ambiguous. I also enjoyed the hell out of The Prestige, which was pretty straightforward but still worked superbly for what it was.

buffybeast 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 Did someone nominate "Slither" as a top movie of 2006? WTF? A movie about killer slugs from outer space shouldn't be in anyone's top 10 list.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 Even though I have it relatively low on my list, good to see SLiTHER getting some love. I didn't like the horror aspects of the film, but it was very funny. buffybeast- Did you see SLiTHER? If not, then you really have no comment. The plot of SLiTHER was irrelevant to the movie. I have Thank You For Smoking in the 20s in my rankings, I thought it was funny but too smug for its own good. Curry- What's Deep Blue?

Yes, I did see Slither. Killer slugs from a meteor invade a Southern hick town during the Deer Hunting festivites. If this is the same movie, then yes I saw it. It wasn't scary or funny to me. Just ridiculous.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 I was bored with Slither, there wasn't enough comedy to make me laugh or enough horror to freak me out. And I really wanted to like it too. I didn't love Borat like everyone else, it gave me some laughs, but no major ones. I REALLY wanted to see Children of Men, and The Prestige...just haven't been able to yet

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 Fuck, Slither goes off the list and Miami Vice goes on it. Barron- Deep Blue is just your basic, run-of-the-mill oceanic documentary but it's got some of the most beautiful shots I've ever seen in film in it. And Pierce Brosnan narrates it.
