Styles Posted January 18, 2007 Author Report Posted January 18, 2007 TJ surgery is most certainly not end of career, many pitchers come back even better. Its too bad Chris Carpenter's career was over though. Oh, wait. Anyway, ok, I'll make an executive decision while reserving the right to change my mind if enough people bitch about it. I figure since your not just keeping the injured player, it puts Liriano back on the market for anyone who wants to keep him for the long term like next season. I'll allow you to swap. Now, SP made another suggestion regarding the new managers. Since, the 2 new manager's are essentially taking over for the departing two, and since we've found the final rosters from last season, that their preliminary Keeper draft would be limited to the rosters of those 2 teams (I wouldn't designate one team to each manager because there's no fair way to do that). What does everyone think of that idea. I like it, I must say, so again, unless there is much bitching, I'll say that's the way we do it.
Cartman Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Drafting from the two teams sounds fair to me. I don't have a real issue with him changing his Keeper, but I will say that his injury was well known during last season and it typically takes over a year to come back from.
Stephen Joseph Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Yeah, the injury become news in the offseason and his official surgery happened after we announced keepers. I then went AWOL. I dunno, TJ scares me. I dont mind that other proposal MJ
Styles Posted January 18, 2007 Author Report Posted January 18, 2007 Not counting me and Stephen there are 18 other managers. It will probably take me a couple more days to get all the info together in terms of preparing for the draft, so if before then 10 managers post here or PM me to officially disapprove of allowing the keeper swap, I'll veto my original decision. If less then a majority of manage's bitch though, it will be sustained. I'm for the people.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Fantasy baseball is a disease.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Fantasy baseball is a disease. Baseball and Football aren't a disease, but if you're playing Fantasy hockey, or Fantasy Golf, or Fantasy NASCAR then you have a problem..
razazteca Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Fantasy baseball is a disease. Yahoo fantasy sports is a disease indeed with baseball as one of the many symptoms. The cure is in the trophy case.
Krankor Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Thanks for the pm MJ. My team will return. Count me in.

Baseball and Football aren't a disease, but if you're playing Fantasy hockey, or Fantasy Golf, or Fantasy NASCAR then you have a problem.. No, they're all shit. It makes people fret about individual achievements instead of wins and losses, which are supposed to really matter. Plus you get weird statements like "man, I hope the Cubs win today, but I hope they make sure Jeff Suppan gets six good innings first." "YEAH T.O.!" "You hate the Cowboys" "He's on my fantasy team"

Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 I'm still standing! But yeah, I guess I'd better go express my displeasure with fantasy baseball in a thread other than "TSM Fantasy Baseball."
Styles Posted January 24, 2007 Author Report Posted January 24, 2007 OK, I've compiled the list of players on jWeeper and Wart's final rosters that will be up for grabs in this supplemental keeper draft for our two new managers. The way it works is you two will go back and forth drafting until each of you has selected 4 "keepers". Note that I noted each round that a player was drafted in last year's draft. So again, to review, if you choose a player drafted in Round 2, you lose your second round pick in this year's upcoming draft. If you choose an undrafted player you lose your last round (so 20th or if you choose 2 undrafted 20th, 19th, etc.). There's no fair way to say who goes first, so I'll just say "early bird gets the worm" and since Jack Bauer replied first, he gets first pick followed by Precious Roy and you guys will go back and forth, indicating in this thread which player you have chosen (please feel free to make ample use of the google image search and image tags to give a visual representation of your player as well!): Pick 1: Jack Bauer- Carlos Zambrano (ChC - SP)- ROUND 2 Pick 2: Precious Roy- Brandon Webb (Ari - SP)- ROUND 4 Pick 3: Jack Bauer- Carlos Guillén (Det - SS)- ROUND 9 Pick 4: Precious Roy- Jermaine Dye (CWS - OF)- ROUND 10 Pick 5: Jack Bauer- Adam LaRoche (Pit - 1B)- ROUND 14 Pick 6: Precious Roy- Tom Gordon (Phi - RP)- ROUND 10 Pick 7: Jack Bauer- Scott Rolen (StL - 3B)- ROUND 5 Pick 8: Precious Roy- Derrek Lee (ChC - 1B)- ROUND 1 Andy Pettitte (NYY - SP)- ROUND 2 C.C. Sabathia (Cle - SP)- ROUND 6 Danys Báez (Bal - RP)- ROUND 12 David Eckstein (StL - SS)- ROUND 12 Dustin Hermanson (CWS - RP)- ROUND 14 Emil Brown (KC - OF)- ROUND 18 Eric Hinske (Bos - 1B,3B,OF)- ROUND 20 Héctor Carrasco (LAA - SP,RP)- ROUND 18 Jason Bay (Pit - OF) – ROUND 1 John Patterson (Was - SP)- ROUND 5 Johnny Estrada (Mil - C)- NOT DRAFTED (LOSE LAST AVALIABLE ROUND) Ken Griffey Jr. (Cin - OF)- ROUND 6 Kevin Mench (Mil - OF)- ROUND 9 Kevin Millwood (Tex - SP)- ROUND 8 Marcus Thames (Det - OF)- NOT DRAFTED (LOSE LAST AVALIABLE ROUND) Mark Loretta (Hou - 1B,2B)- ROUND 8 Mike González (Atl - RP)- ROUND 11 Mike Jacobs (Fla - 1B)- ROUND 14 Mike Lowell (Bos - 2B,3B)- ROUND 19 Mike MacDougal (CWS - RP)- ROUND 11 Noah Lowry (SF - SP)- ROUND 7 Pablo Ozuna (CWS - 3B,SS,OF)- NOT DRAFTED (LOSE LAST AVALIABLE ROUND) Paul Lo Duca (NYM - C)- ROUND 16 Pedro Feliz (SF - 1B,3B,OF)- ROUND 13 Rafael Betancourt (Cle - RP)- ROUND 19 Randy Winn (SF - OF)- ROUND 7 Reed Johnson (Tor - OF)- NOT DRAFTED (LOSE LAST AVALIABLE ROUND) Richie Sexson (Sea - 1B)- ROUND 3 Scott Eyre (ChC - RP)-NOT DRAFTED (LOSE LAST AVALIABLE ROUND) Scott Podsednik (CWS - OF) – ROUND 4 Shannon Stewart (Min - OF)- ROUND 13 Tom Glavine (NYM - SP)- ROUND 15 Zach Duke (Pit - SP)- ROUND 3

Brett Favre Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Damn, good players available right now. By the time I pick, i'll have to go with like Chris Woodward or something.
treble Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Taking the Cy Young winner in the first round isn't exactly a ballsy move.
Styles Posted January 27, 2007 Author Report Posted January 27, 2007 Ok, thanks guys. I'll have the list of taken players and a complete draft order up sometime in the next few days. And then we can begin THE DRAFT~!
