claydude14 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2007 You must've missed Impact. Chris Harris may never regain sight in his eye that the beer bottle was broken on, and he may never even wrestle again. Obviously
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2007 This is why you almost have to ignore Impact to enjoy the ppvs: Joe vs. Angle 30 minutes 3D vs. LAX Styles vs. Rhino Shelley vs. Aries Sabin vs. Lynn vs. Daniels ... 5 matches that I think are going to be pretty darn entertaining. Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2007 A Shelley singles match? Yes.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2007 so Sting wins the title, then faces off next month against whomever wins between Joe and Angle while Christian and Abyss do the one-on-one thing to finally really give that feud a good blow off... and the rest is, well, the rest. (some good matches, for sure...but the top two are fairly predictable)
razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2007 A Shelley singles match? Yes. I expect to see Shelley play the part of Chris Jericho getting screwed by Nash and the judges after every pin attempt. Something like Shelley gets the clean pin but Nash would declare it a submission match then Shelley would make Macho Man Jr. tap then Nash would say that chokes are not allowed then Alex would get a armbar then Nash would say no japanese holds allowed etc. Then at the 10 minute mark the judges Larry Merchant, Eddy Bravo, Joe Rogan would declare Austin "the Macho Body" Starr the winner due the number of punches connecting. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2007 Tonight's line-up and the order of matches as they are on the board today: Pre-show Lance Hoyt vs. Chase Stevens PPV A.J. Styles vs. Rhino in a last man standing Alex Shelley vs. Austin Starr with three judges - Bob Backlund has been seen at the building, he is a judge and will get involved Christopher Daniels vs. .Jerry Lynn vs. Chris Sabin for the X title James Storm vs. Petey Williams LAX vs. Team 3-D for NWA tag titles Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle in an Iron Man match Abyss vs. Christian Cage vs. Sting for the NWA title So they are putting the NWA title match on last. That's a hell of a risk, because Joe & Angle may tear the house down, and the Abyss/Sting/Christian match struggled last month without the handicap of following what could be a match of the year level performance. On paper, the matches mostly look good. The show should be, well, interesting.

Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2007 The usual overbooked nonsense you've come to expect from a 1998 World title match. Christian to face, one assumes, Angle next month in a match that will likely draw below even TNA's usually low buy rates.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2007 It says on TNA's website that Angle will face the winner of the title match -- in this case Christian Cage -- for the championship at "Against All Odds" ...I hope that doesn't mean Angle is going to try and play face...OR if it means Joe will shoehorn himself into the title match and make it another three way. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2007 Just reading what happened gives you a headache. Are TNA really going to let this kind of stuff go on? What is it going to take for TNA to realize or accept that Russo needs to be removed?
tigeraid 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2007 Possibly a 3-way... I kind of hope not though, I'd rather have Joe/Angle for the title in a few months. Give Joe another storyline for a few months. All in all, an acceptable PPV. While I don't like Abyss losing the belt so early, it was done reasonably well and THANKFULLY he didn't turn on Mitchell and ruin that whole manager dynamic that they have RIGHT down pat. I expect Christian will drop the belt to Angle, who will carry it for several months and then, god willing, drop it to Joe cleanly. Having the Dudleys lose in a generic DQ finish was aggravating. I didn't expect the match to be very good anyway, but I was hoping the Dudleys didn't squash LAX either, and they didn't. But it looks like the feud will continue. TNA really needs some more tag teams now--a year ago they had the best tag division in the world, and now they only have LAX. the VKM promo, if it IS the last one to do with WWE, was entertaining and really did speak what the fans are thinking... but wtf is this Christie Hemmie shit? TNA is NOT ready for a women's division, they have too much talent on air as is, now they're gonna jumble it up more by having women's wrestling? Traci and Gail Kim are the only ones that can work. This could be really bad. Joe/Angle III I liked, although I still wish it had've come off as a draw. But having Angle hold on to the absolute last second and have it finish so close, both guys still come off looking great, and both still massively over. Fine with me. Oh, and the X-title match had a pretty surprise winner, but the match itself was fun, and Jerry Lynn hasn't missed a step. Great seeing him back in a TNA ring. tigeraid 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2007 Hooray, heel-versus-heel in the ME for 2/11. SHADES OF GRAY BAYBEE The way Angle is over with the crowd? He's clearly babyface. This is a situation similar to Hogan/Michaels. After Angle won tonight, he was cheered, there was chants, he got over. I don't see this being heel-vs-heel at all. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2007 Angle isn't even a real tweener in that he is clearly good in some instances (such as intervening with Christian and Tomko) and flat out heel in other segments (beating up Joe's woman). An actual tweener is someone whose actions make sense within his character, such as Diesel in 1995/96 where he was still HBK's buddy for a while since there was no real reason not to be, yet he also was attacking Bret and UT due to his desire for the title. Angle? He seems like someone honestly who is not in his right mind. You can't be Mr. Woman Beater and then be Mr. Truth, Justice, and the American Way. This PPV was good tonight, aside from that horrendous, abysmal bullshit with Christy Hemme and the VKM. I mean what in the hell was that shit? It's amusing that VKM make fun of WWE and yet the segments they are involved in are just as bad. Combine this with a goofy DQ in the tag title match and that stuff had this PPV at near suck levels. The Iron Man match was decent, though I'm not the hugest fan of 30m Iron Mans. The disturbing aspect here is that TNA keeps jobbing their own talent out to these WWE retreads (Angle, Christian). Hell, it's not like either guy is going anywhere....just job them.
