Rape

Recommended Posts

When I first came to prison, I had no idea what to expect. Certainly none of this. I'm a tall white male, who unfortunately has a small amount of feminine characteristics. And very shy. These characteristics have got me raped so many times I have no more feelings physically. I have been raped by up to 5 black men and two white men at a time. I've had knifes at my head and throat. I had fought and been beat so hard that I didn't ever think I'd see straight again. One time when I refused to enter a cell, I was brutally attacked by staff and taken to segragation though I had only wanted to prevent the same and worse by not locking up with my cell mate. There is no supervision after lockdown. I was given a conduct report. I explained to the hearing officer what the issue was. He told me that off the record, He suggests I find a man I would/could willingly have sex with to prevent these things from happening. I've requested protective custody only to be denied. It is not available here. He also said there was no where to run to, and it would be best for me to accept things . . . . I probably have AIDS now. I have great difficulty raising food to my mouth from shaking after nightmares or thinking to hard on all this . . . . I've laid down without physical fight to be sodomized. To prevent so much damage in struggles, ripping and tearing. Though in not fighting, it caused my heart and spirit to be raped as well. Something I don't know if I'll ever forgive myself for.

This guy's crime...a DUI. That could easily have been someone I knew from college.

We have a major human rights disaster going on right this moment in prisons here in the United States. Now if this guy was a brutal murderer or a child molester, I wouldn't have all that much sympathy for him. But we have a lot of people in prison here for fucking weed. And they're being subjected to this shit.

I'm not sure how much can be done about something like this without a drastic shift in a small but dangerous mindset of certain peoples. The small-balled statements of people like MikeSC or Bob Knight foster the quiet allowing of everyday rape occurances. The weak-willed politicians allow marijuana users to go to prison for no better reasons than it prevents legislators from admittin a mistake and prevents alcohol/tobacco/pharmaceutical lobbies from losing cash...and it is the same pathetic lack of will, of morals, that allows these occurances to go on inside American prisons. A massive change in thinking of people, a change that I dont see forthcoming due to either the slimey minds and nature of the disgusting or utter lack of courage towards doing the right thing in the face of lost political contributions, is necessitated before our prison systems are changed & before they become places where harmless marijuana smokers are not the primary dwellers. The evil within those that commit rape is the last thing that can probably ever disappear but the allowing of it can stop. I just have my doubts as to whether it will.

As far as I'm concerned somebody who's put in for DUI is an attempted murderer and deserves to have a train run on them by a well-endowed inmate. Something minor like petty larceny or weed is one thing but drunk drivers are pieces of shit that deserve the worst punishment possible.

What the hell did this have to do with marijuana and why it should be legalized? Nothing.

Blah blah blah. Don't commit crimes. Its that easy. If you want to really decrease the chances of you going to jail, don't do illegal shit. Yeah, sure, there are some people there that don't belong, but if he went to PRISON for a DUI, it either wasn't his first time or he hit or killed someone. You don't go to prison for getting pulled over for DUI. So, yeah...fuck him. Noone deserves to be raped, but you don't need to do shit that will put you in a ass taking environment.

Vast overreaction. There's a tremendous difference between a DUI--a misdemeanor that results in no harm being done to another party--and, say, vehicular manslaughter resulting from a DUI, a felony in which a victim dies. Drunk driving is retarded and people should be punished for it, but there are obvious degrees that you have to take into account as with any crime. I don't know what this guy's particular case is, but that's a dangerous generalization to make.

On the main topic, U.S. prisons are overcrowded, poorly managed warzones. I don't know what we do about that.

And once again, if you make it to prison solely off of DUI's, you need to be there. You have to get quite a few to get put in prison. Plus, seriously, we are talking about the difference between someone being in your way when drunk or not being in your way. The difference between the felony and regular DUI is fucking luck.

Marvin,

1) Marijuana users go to prison. That shouldn't have been so hard for you to figure out from my post but, considering your breathing comes solely from the mouth, I'll let it pass.

2) Don't talk about anything that involves any sexual organs.

They've overcrowded because peoples idea of getting elected is to make suburbanites feel they are tough on crime and they do that by sending minor non violent offenders to prison for longer sentences.

Says it was his third DUI offense. Sorry he's getting raped and all, but it was his third one. Means he got his chances to make things right in his life twice but he still decided to take the lives of other people into his hands.

I feel bad for weed users who get sent to jail for home use (I am against use outside of the home) or medical uses. But this guy was on his third DUI. It's fucked up and all he's getting raped but people know what prison is like.

I actually know a guy who has 3 DUI's.........he has court dates and such and doesn't know if he's going to prison or not. Yes a DUI is stupid and he should have his liscense taken away for a long time but I'm not sure he should get some long prison term......he could just get house arrest which seems more in line for what he should get.

Marijuana users aren't going to prison. If you get caught with a lb of weed the fuck ya.

What makes weed smokers so special anyway? Its against the law. Get over it. Just because you want to do it and don't agree with the law, who the fuck cares? Is it worth the risk of ass rape? If you are willing to risk ass rape for weed, can you honestly tell me you don't have a problem? I want attractive women to no longer wear clothes...like...ever, but there are laws preventing it. You don't hear me bitching about it.

Why the hell not? I think that is a sensible policy for a sensible nation.

People go to prison for a variety of reasons and the last time I checked marijuana was just as illegal as DUI and rape and everything else. But saying the reason this will continue to happen is due to a comparison of the fact that the government won't legalize marijuana is rediculous, as the "legalize marijuana!" crowd uses just about anything as an excuse these days to get their point in.

Don't make a bigger fool of yourself, Ripper. Marijuana users make up a big percentage of prisoners. Even small time users can end up doing time. Nobody has died from, it makes nobody violent, doctors want it legal, states are passing referendums.

But you don't even think they go to prson so you're clearly showing your depth of the knowledge on the subject.

It's a big fucking problem, but if you don't want to deal with it, don't break the law. That's really all you can do about it, grown men are going to do what they want when they need sexual activity. I do feel bad for the guy though, that's something that nobody should be subjected to.

Do you realize how much weed you have to have and how you have to get caught with it to get sent to PRISON. I am not talking probation, or a cute little stay in county or those other slaps on the wrist. To get sent to PRISON, Selling, growing a certain number of plants, or having a certain amount is going to get you there.

I know you aren't trying to pardon weed sellers, so we will jsut skip them. If you are growing for yourself, you don't need 20 fucking plants in your house. And if you are walking around with more than a dime bag of weed, you deserve to go to jail.

There has to be ALOT of shit involved for a small time user to do time in PRISON (I keep capitalizing prison because people like to pretend its as easy to get sent to prison as it is to get sent to jail). If you are on probation, maybe smoking weed and failing your drug test and getting time isn't the laws fault, maybe you are a fucking idiot and don't have your priotities in order. If you are smoking weed in your car and get caught with it, then fuck you, you are a idiot. Smoke it in the privacy of your own home, and if something goes down, don't have enough to get half the country baked and you aren't going to prison. Any other case, fuck ya.

I once again repeat, agree with it or not, its illegal. Don't do illegal shit and you likely won't go to jail. Next someone is going to come in here and say how victimless prostitution is.

A society of hierarchy and coercion is contrary to human freedoms, so laws that make weed illegal are not justified and so are the subsequent punishments. It's pretty alarming that such violations of human rights are allowed to continue.

Also if you look back at the times when drugs were first criminalized, the decision to criminalize them is usually based on false information and/or racism.

Regardless of the crime, nobody deserves that kind of treatment.

Even someone who's in for rape themselves?

Dont believe in an eye for an eye?

I certainly don't. It's a pretty hypocritical belief.

Guest Oedipus Rex

I think one DUI can be written off as a youthful indiscretion, but if you racked up three of them--caught driving drunk three times, for God's sake!--my sympathy isn't there. Being on the road with a drunk driver has scared the hell out of me.

Neither do I, and I also think we're going about the drug problem the wrong way.

Edwin, I'm not sure that drunk driving is a victimless crime like you said.
