Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted March 23, 2007 Hey check out Tyrone the crackhead in his pre-Dave Chapelle show days! Also, 90's music is the shit so much better than the all the fukin wack music that comes out now in the 90's u had TLC, 2pac, Dr Dre, Wu tang, Beastie Boys, Nas, Gangstar and Eminem all in their prime 1. Eminem's first album was in 1999, hardly enough in the 90's to have considered it his prime, even you consider his first album to be his best (which I don't). 2. Gangstarr fucking sucks. 3. TLC does NOT belong in that group. What is this guy, like 15?
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2007 But TLC did WHAT ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS??! and DON'T GO CHASING WATERFALLS! so TLC gets in there by default.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2007 he is right though, 90s Rap and R&B is so much better than most of the shit you hear these days..."Walk It Out" anyone? or how bout some "Chain Hang Low"? Please...
Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2007 This is coming from someone who's not the biggest fan or R&B and Hip Hop, but it seems that these days, they will just rap about ANYTHING. It seemed more inspired in the 90s. These days... it just doesn't seem to be creative at all. But maybe that's just me.
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2007 he is right though, 90s Rap and R&B is so much better than most of the shit you hear these days..."Walk It Out" anyone? or how bout some "Chain Hang Low"? Please... That shit is dirt. I don't even listen to current hip-hop, I listen to the old stuff.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted March 23, 2007 he is right though, 90s Rap and R&B is so much better than most of the shit you hear these days..."Walk It Out" anyone? or how bout some "Chain Hang Low"? Please... Oh, I agree with that, though. I just needed to make those three points. Funny how rap was better during the West Coast/East Coast rivalry days, but in a way it's better to have that than 500 knock-offs trying to be the next Young Jeezy or whathaveyou coming out of the South and making shit rap, or on the other hand, coming up by way of an established star's endorsement while having little talent of their own (this would be about half of D-12 here). Master P killed rap. Or at least whatever good was there, No Limit Records really turned it into just trying to knock out hits with shit beats, no consideration for flow or what goes into lyrics whatsoever, and that whole ridiculous glam lifestyle. I understand he'll have his fans, but so does Insane Clown Posse. Good for them. I don't care for them. 2. Gangstarr fucking sucks. I was with you until you said that. Gangstarr doesn't suck in any way, shape or form. I'll give you this much: DJ Premier makes some (or at least he used to- more on that in a second) good beats. I'm don't like Guru's lyrical flow myself, and as I may have mentioned, I don't care much for the New York City hip hop sound. Also, I saw them in concert once, and (this is where I mainly base my opinion of them) they were just absolutely horrible. This was at Rage Against the Machine's last show on September 13th, 2000 at the Grand Olympic in L.A.. my friend had dragged me along to check em out (he was a huge Rage fan) and the opener was Gangstarr. I don't think many if any people were really into them, they burst out on stage with all this pyro and hopping around and looking silly and the crowd just did not give a shit. They were awful then. Maybe they hit their peak way before, but at least when I saw them, they were pretty bad.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2007 I've found every hip hop group to be terrible or near terrible in concert. It's just not a musical style that lends itself to a live environment. So I'm not surprised that a group like Gangstarr came off poor in that settting, especially since the beauty of their music is Premier's flawless production and Guru's understated lyrics. Maybe they just aren't for you, but the last time I listened to Full Clip (their greatest hits package) I still couldn't believe that they weren't one of the biggest bands in rap. It's just amazing song after amazing song from start to finish. In my opinion, Gangstarr and EPMD are the lost icons of rap's young history.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2007 Odd thing for me is I can't stand the New York sound but I really dig Gangstarr. Then again... who gives a Jesus Christ shit what I think?
