Darthtiki Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 This episode, while not as bad as the 1st Dom episode, was one of the lowlights of S3. Turtle, Ari and Lloyd carried the episode. Is it just me or are they turning Ari into Jerry Maguire?
Craig Th Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 I was thinking about the first episodes of each season and all of them are pretty weak. The pilot was kind of blah, "The Boys Are Back in Town" wasn't that strong and "AquaMom" was pretty boring. And this season's premiere wasn't all that hot either. But when the third episode comes, that is when things start picking up.
Craig Th Posted April 23, 2007 Author Report Posted April 23, 2007 Was it just me, or did that episode seem EXTRA short today? I still liked it and things are finally starting to pick-up.
Mik Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 No. It was 20 minutes tops. Amanda in her see through underwear was nice. I bet that's probably all we're gonna get out of her, but whatever. Ari crying over Vince, hijacking his therapist, and then getting his mean streak back was nice. That whole scene w/ the therapist and his wife towards the beginning was gold. Looking forward to next week but I couldn't believe how short this episode was.
tommytomlin Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 I downloaded it, and it was 21 minutes, 40 seconds. Last weeks was about 26 minutes, but I think most eps normally hover around the 22 minute mark.
Hawk 34 Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 I hardly noticed it being shorter. It always feels abrupt.
Black Lushus Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 nah, a show like this doesn't have engaging enough storylines to keep going for an hour at a time. There's only 5 main characters and a small handful of supporting characters. It's not like the Wire or Oz or Rome or something that has multiple main characters that need at least an hour to develop their stories. Entourage is basically 4 guys having the time of their lives out in California with a manic agent running around stressed out.
Lord of The Curry Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Mmmmm. That's good Gugino cleavage. Like Mik mentioned, the shit with Ari and his shrink was very well done. I'm not sure if I liked the ending, only because it's really, really unlikely that Vince and Amanda just fuck and go back to have a professional relationship. Maybe Ari finds out about it and tries to blackmail Amanda into cutting Vince loose?
Lord of The Curry Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 LIDDELL VS DRAMA~!!~ TOOOOO-NITE
Conspiracy_Victim Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Drama called Liddell a "WWF wannabe"? What's this WWE he speaks of? He thinks Liddell wants to save the pandas?
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 No one in the mainstream public has ever watched the WWF, much less knows it's called "WWE" now. Don't let those USA Network celebrity "Raw Fan" commercials or whatever they're called fool ya.
Hawk 34 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 How can Drama not know who Liddel is? We've seen them watching UFC a few times over the years. I know Drama is in his own world but still. Aside from that, good stuff with Liddell. Eric continues to drag these shows down while Ari gets more awesome.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Tonight's episode was better than last week's but not as good as two weeks ago. It felt like an awesome payoff for both Ari and Drama's storyline was coming but both ended kinda lame.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 "How can Drama not know who Liddel is?" A very small percentage of people watch UFC.
Hawk 34 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 "How can Drama not know who Liddel is?" A very small percentage of people watch UFC. Like I said, we've seen the gang watching UFC before. Drama lives in his own world, so that explains it. The other guys knew who Liddell was. I loved that it was a good touch showing how oblivious Drama is when he's not depressed.
Mik Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 I loved this episode. The Liddell/Drama stuff was unreal. Hilarious and awesome. I saw the ending coming but still very cool. The pool scene w/ Artie Lang, Carley Bobby, Ari and his wife was dynamite. The only thing that sucked was E's storyline but this is all leading to Amanda's imminent firing so whatever. I just hope they don't go the Mandy Moore route again...
Angle-plex Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 That Drama plotline in this episode was some of the most predictible stuff I've seen in a sitcom in a while. Completely unfunny. It looks like the main Ari/Vince/Amanda plot will pick up next week though.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 I thought Ari could've been a bit more raunchy to Arti's wife. That wasn't "frat boy talk". We don't do that shit to each other's girlfriends. It was lame. But if they were going that route, at least go the full route, instead of "DAMN, WHAT A BODY". That blowoff sucked. As did the obvious ending to the funny Lidell/Drama sequence. During the initial scenes I was like "THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT" and at the end, I was like "That's...It?" Edit: I just watched it again with more people and liked it better, but everyone saw the ending a mile away.
Craig Th Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 This could have been one of my favorite episodes if the Ari storyline wasn't so boring. Which is a shame because I love Artie Lange. And I am hating E more and more.
Jaxxson Mayhem Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Great episode. The Drama storyline was fuckin hilarious. Artie Lang was GREAT in this episode. Glad to see him on the show...... 3 words... Stamps Dot Com
Lord of The Curry Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 I can't be the only one thinking that the ending shot was going to be E talking to Vince about Amanda and then saying "I just fired her" or something to that effect. Either way, it's clear that the direction they're going in is that Vince's relationship with Amanda starts to have a negative impact on his work. I'll go one further and say that E goes to Ari for advice and that's the beginning of the end for Vinny and Amanda.
Black Lushus Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 How does Vince still have clout, let alone money in the bank account? The boys spend money like mad and he's done, what? 3 movies?
Lord of The Curry Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Shhhhhhh. We don't ask questions like that. Ruins the fun.
Black Lushus Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 doh! gotta put on my "WWE suspend all disbelief" hat!
Craig Th Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 Maybe he got some of the Aquaman DVD sales, games, etc?
Hawk 34 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Another factor is that they get comp'd alot of things as well. The party they threw was sponsered, so they didn't spend much. Obviously they spend a ton because they know Vince will make the money. Five Towns. Is this a hit for Drama or do we see a one week bust and Drama's back in the dumps?
Craig Th Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 It will do well. Drama needs a break and I think something might happen where Drama ends up supporting the crew more than Vince. I am guessing Drama is making about 30,000 an episode and if the series does well, he might get a movie.
Mik Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Great episode. Vince going to fire Amanda only to find out that she had nothing to do with it and that it got fucked up by Josh Rubenstein was pretty awesome. I wonder if Vince just goes back to Ari or what now. And is Amanda done with the show? But all that stuff with Ari and temple was gold.
