Shooting at Virginia Tech Campus

Recommended Posts

I don't think that its a reasonable assumption to think because he is wierd he is going to shoot up the joint. Seriously, hindsight is bullshit in situations like this. He did the unthinkable. Anything short of him saying "I am going to get two guns and shoot up a Virgina Tech class." isn't going to set off any bells.

now the next few weeks and months it will set off bells on all weird kids, who aren't planning on shooting up the joint and then it will pass.

Yep, that's pretty much a good summary of the situation.

Heck, let's face it, if you could be locked up for writing disturbing comments, three quarters of this message board would probably be in jail right now.

It's stuff like that which makes me wonder why people don't follow through on that suggestion Will Farrell had in an SNL skit...get a possee together with some guns and clear out the ghettos.

It's just a funny name. I'd have appropriated it no matter where I found it. I'm probably straddling the poor taste line here, since it would probably appear that I'm glorifying the guy or otherwise taking it lightly, but I'm not. So that kinda makes it okay!

EDIT: actually I feel kind of uncomfortable and icky maybe this is too much even for me

There, now I'm going to hell. I feel worse about this than I did when my av was Hitler. And that was for a few months!

This was pre-meditated masacre! He bought the weapons a month ago, the damn gook knew what he was doing! In my opinion his parents should be shot for concieving this psycho! We all know traumatic things in in a persons childhood turn them into psychos!

Interesting perspective.

those of you who make a huge deal out of this situation on facebook make me sick. if you look around the world and see the events that happen on a daily basis (as you would have before my picture was deleted) you would realize that something like this is nothing out of the ordinary.

you sound like a man with a paper asshole

?

The fact that lolfacebook.jpg is next to comments regarding the tragedy is what makes Facebook either the best or the worst.

I regret nothing. It was clearly a joke.

Oh, I'm sorry, I mentioned a late night comedy show. Obviously, I intended it to be serious social commentary.

"You need psychological counseling."

Some of you people need a fucking sense of humor.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech gunman mailed a package of photographs, video and writings to NBC News in New York before he killed himself in the massacre that left 33 people dead, authorities said Wednesday. NBC said that a time stamp on the package indicated the material was mailed in the two-hour window between the first burst of gunfire in a high-rise dormitory and the second fusillade, at a classroom building.

"This may be a very new, critical component of this investigation. We're in the process right now of attempting to analyze and evaluate its worth," said Col. Steve Flaherty, superintendent of Virginia State Police. He gave no details on the material.

NBC said it immediately turned the package — containing what the network described as a "lengthy diatribe" from Cho Seung-Hi — over to authorities on Wednesday.

NBC would not disclose the contents beyond characterizing the material as "disturbing." The was sent to NBC News head Steve Capus.

If the package was indeed mailed between the first attack and the second, that would help explain where Cho was and what he did during that two-hour window.

Sounds like he wanted to die and forever be remembered. Mission horribly well accomplished.

Yeah, and it'll tell others they can do stuff like this and earn their place in history.

My advice to the mass media: don't bother reading the guy's shitty plays, interviewing his family and friends, don't bother filming countless documenteries where you delve into his mind and figure out what made him tick, because you'll just end up romanticizing him in the minds of many. Mourn the dead, and let this douchebag be forgotten like the nobody he was.

Cock-smoking wannabe tough guys who are blaming the victims for not going all Chuck Norris on the gunman can go straight to hell (hmm...imagine someone from the National Review castigating others for not being brave while they sit back & play keyboard commando...this has never happened before).

Liviu Librescu again:

Caroline Merrey is one of the students who jumped. ...

In the flurry of students dialing 911 on cell phones, taking cover on the floor and twisting open second story windows to escape, Merrey, 22, glanced over her shoulder before jumping.

"I just remember looking back and seeing him at the door," the Virginia Tech senior recalled of her professor. "I don’t think I would be here if it wasn’t for him." ...

"It wouldn’t amaze me he would do such a thing," fellow engineering professor Muhammad Hajj said. "He’s that kind of person, willing to take care of others, protect others."

Students in room 207:

A few minutes later, the gunman tried to force his way back inside the classroom, where Mr. Perkins was using his jacket and sweatshirt to stanch the wounds of bleeding students. Mr. Cho managed to open the door a crack, but the students pushed back hard enough to stop him.

"I sprinted on top of the desk to the door, because the aisle was clogged with people, and I used my foot as a wedge against the door," recalled Mr. O’Dell. "It was almost like you had to fight for your life. If you didn’t, you died."

Mr. Perkins said he was struck at how Mr. O’Dell managed to help hold back the gunman, given his injury.

"It was just amazing to me that he was still up and leaning against the door," he said. "Derek was able to hold him off while I was helping other people."

The mere fact that NBC released the videos really says sopmething about the media, though that's pretty obvious. It also says alot about voyeurism, but that's another story.

NBC seemed to be almost bragging about getting the footage when I went past MSNBC. That's class.

Smell the commercials: NBC, the preferred newscast of gun-toting loonies.
