2007 NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS - ROUND THREE

Recommended Posts

Agreed. I'd prefer the Sabres get eliminated at night, thus less hours of me bitching about it.

God, Game 3. Fuck the Sabres. I cannot defend that. That was the worst game of hockey I've ever seen.

Since the board was down, I'll recap what my posts would have looked like:

Dammit. Terrible clearing attempt by Emery. Stay in your net, you're not Brodeur.

HEATLEY!!!!!!

Finally!

SPEZZA!!!!!!!

What a gorgeous goal. Textbook 2-on-1 break. Bad play by Tallinder, not committing to either guy and hanging Miller out to dry.

Twenty minutes to go...

Fuck the refs. This is absolute bullshit.

I pity the poor Americans who don't get Versus and can't see OT. NBC is horrible.

ALFIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHSAK.JHDFJKHFLKJS;HGUKERTHJLGLEWJHEGIHBUIR

What poetic justice for Alfie to score in OT in game 5 in Buffalo, after what happened last year.

And 1-on-3 on top of that. I have no idea how he even got a shot off, let alone scored.

CUP FINALS, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang:

Oh, and Alfredsson touched the Wales trophy a little bit. Hopefully that was enough.

And my 8000th post is about the Senators. Feelin' dirty.

However, I predict you'll lose 4-2 in the finals. Because those teams have power plays that don't give up 2 on 0's, and your goalie will be exposed for the terrible hockey player he is. Sorry.

I'll be cheering for Detroit or Anaheim. That is, I would be if I didn't hate hockey (until next season begins). I refuse to cheer for any other Canadian teams just because fans of those teams are generally pricks and certainly wouldn't cheer for Toronto if they were the last Canadian team standing (not that it'll occur anytime in the foreseeable future).

Exactly. I get a kick out of those Western Canadian fans (Oilers/Flames/'Nucks) who fervently root against the Leafs and taunt us and then whine when us Leaf fans don't support them. I don't think Ottawa or Montreal fans ever act like we owe them anything though. Cheering for an NHL team for patriotism reasons is kind of silly IMO.

Grudging respect for Ottawa (and Emery is the shit), but I still don't want the bastards to win the Cup especially Alfredsson.

Anaheim has all the momentum right now going into overtime. And after seeing the players on the bench after the goal, they all looked shocked. Someone better have a motivation speech in the locker room right now because Gigure has been keeping Anaheim in this game.

You were right Angle, You jinxed them!

God i hate this, we outplayed them but just could NOT score that 2nd goal, that bugs me.

And as soon as the Wings turned it over there, I knew it was going in the net.

I'll be shocked if the wings force 7 on tuesday

I still see Ottawa winning the cup this year no matter what team makes it, and if so, I think it's crazy that in the past 4 seasons, the 4 teams that Detroit has lost too, has lost in the Finals (Ducks, Flames, Oilers and maybe Ducks?)

Maybe it just means the East has been better.

i am in agony right now. anaheim didn't win, detroit lost. they gave them this game. sadly, detroit has been the better team but anaheim is squeaking out victories.

I see Ottawa easily handling Detroit.

Anaheim, however will provide a challenge, as Giguere is the better goalie than Emery, and Pronger and Neidermyer are better defencemen than Corvo and Phillips

Why are you making a comparison to our #5 defenceman?

Volchenkov is arguably the best defensive defenceman in the league. Phillips is right up there.

Agreed on Volchenkov. He is awesome, and needs to leave Ottawa.

That was pretty funny. And Wade Redden apparently does not exist.

Okay, enough with the bitching about how Detroit outplayed them and has been the better team the whole series. Did Detroit out play them in Game 5? Yes. But this game was a carbon copy of game one with the teams reversed as Anaheim should have handily walked away with victory in that game. Even the game that Detroit won 5-0, they were still out shot.

How many times can one network claim that one team "outplayed" the other team and lost before re-evaluating their definition of "outplaying"? Tune into any hockey segment on ESPN to find out, apparently. Detroit's outplaying them in the parts that don't put goals on the board, which unfortunately happen to be the only parts that count.

It was exactly a carbon coby of Game 1 with a reversal of the teams. A few bad breaks and Anaheim was able to capalitize on them while Detroit was not.

Since I have calmed down now, I believe that this Detroit team has what it takes to make it to go 7, it all matters if they believe it themselves. Hasek has to play unbeliveable and Detroit has to take the crowd out of it early like they did in Game 3.

I totally agree. Detroit has played well enough in this series that if they come out and have a game similar to game three, it's going seven. If they come out flat and Hasek's shakey, they'll be hitting the links by the end of the week.
