Twisted Intestine Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 One night stand is this Sunday.. Is it too early to start a thread? I for one am actually pretty excited for this show, it will sure blow last years out of the water. World Tag Team Champions The Hardys vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team (Ladder Match) This match looks to kick all sorts of ass if your a fan of the hardys or TWGTT. Both teams can bring the performance in ladder matches. I'm a big fan of both teams.. they're by far my two favourite tag teams right now. What crazy bump will Jeff take? ..To me this match will just kick all sorts of ass. Though, I'm sure alot of you will shit on it.. "Stupid spot monkey match." Prediction: Hardy Boys WWE Champion John Cena vs. The Great Khali (Pinfalls Count Anywhere Match) No submissions in this match, winner must be decided by pinfall. I'm actually interested to see how Cena will get the pin over Khali. I predict Cena will throw everything he has at Khali, but bounce right off of him and take a beating until the end when he hits an FU out of nowhere for the pinfall. Either that, or outside interferance.. Umaga, maybe? Prediction: John Cena ECW World Champion Mr. McMahon vs. Bobby Lashley (Street Fight) Bobby Lashley looks to win his title back here, as the whole Mcmahon reign is getting old. But then again, who knows? Maybe they're going to continue to screw Lashley out of the win, until he finally gets McMahon one on one in a cage match. Nothing like that's ever happened before. Prediction: Mr. McMahon World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Batista (Steel Cage Match) This should be a fun match to watch. I've always liked Edge in cage matches.. It will be fun to watch him try to defeat the much more powerful Batista. If Edge wins, it will be by escaping. If Edge loses, poor Edge. Prediction: Batista Melina vs Candice Michelle (Pudding Match) Who cares? Prediction: Candice Michelle That's not alot of matches.. any word on if they're adding any more? For an ECW PPV, there sure isn't alot of ECW talent on the show so far. Edit: Maybe change the title to ONS predictions, if you want.
NYU Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Lashley vs. McMahon -- again. Cena vs. Khali -- again. Edge vs. Batista -- again. Melina vs. Candace...in a pudding match. And the possibility of RVD vs. Snitsky. it will sure blow last years out of the water. Er....no. No it won't.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 I for one am actually pretty excited for this show. So, you're the guy. I care not for this show. It might wind up being pretty good, and likely will, but going into it? Pass. 175,000.
bob_barron Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Last year's ONS wasn't really that good, so it's not like it will be too hard top it

It might wind up being pretty good, and likely will, but going into it? Pass. 175,000. Eh, I kind of want to see the show too. The ladder match should be fun, Cena v. Khali I think will be better then people expect and I always enjoy Edge's work
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Last year's ONS wasn't really that good, so it's not like it will be too hard top it Maybe from a "pure wrestling" stand point, but crowd reactions really made the PPV into a underrated classic IMO. The heat for the RVD/Cena was just too much, no crowd has ever shit on Cena this bad. Not even Toronto. When the crowd threw the shirt back at Cena, it was amazing. I enjoyed Edge/Foley Vs. Funk/Dreamer also.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 --This is the current One Night Stand line-up: *John Cena vs. Great Khali in a falls count anywhere match for the title with no submissions allowed *Edge vs. Batista in a cage match for the Smackdown title *Vince vs. Bobby Lashley in a street fight for the ECW title *Hardys vs. Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin for Raw tag titles in a ladder match *Melina vs. Candice Michelle in a non-title pudding match At this point, matches scheduled to be added: *Chris Benoit vs. MVP *C.M. Punk & Sandman & Tommy Dreamer vs. Elijah Burke & Marcus Cor Von & Matt Striker They are still debating adding one more match.

Hawk 34 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 We can thank Kevin Dunn for the pudding match. All the hard work Mickie, Trish and others did to put the focus on wrestling in the woman's division down the drain because Ashley was a terrible worker. Might as well slap a gimmick to the other matches to go along with the theme. Not sure what you could do for MVP/Benoit since logically, the next step would be Iron-man rules and I doubt even a 30 minute version would cut it. Most likely, I'd expect a submission rules match. Not sure about the ECW six-man. In fact, why even a six-man? Originals-Breed was dropped weeks ago anyways I guess the idea is that Punk needed to even the numbers and called for support from the Originals. Seems like it's building to a Corvon-Punk rematch given the rib injury. What would the gimmick be for that anyways? Tables? Cane on Pole?
pochorenella Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Lashley vs. McMahon -- again. Cena vs. Khali -- again. Edge vs. Batista -- again. You sure make it sound as if we've seen those matches ad nauseum. They're all basically rematches from the previous PPV but with new stips. Is that too bad a thing? They aren't allowed to put rematches on? Or are we gonna use that all too popular "X wrestler vs Y wrestler version 96897598" after only a couple of matches? We've only seen each ONCE except Cena vs Khali which will air on SNME and maybe Lashley vs Vince if you count those 3 on 1 matches where Vince did mostly nothing.
Golgo 13 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Only two weeks after the last PPV, yes, it is a bad thing.
pochorenella Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Only two weeks after the last PPV, yes, it is a bad thing. Then the close proximity of each PPV is the bad thing, not the rematches themselves.
Taker666 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 The card looks pretty good IMO. the build-up pretty much sucked and the fact that its two weeks away from the last PPV sucked to. but the card itself looks kinda fun. but like I do with all WWE PPVs except the Rumble and WrestleMania. I'll wait till it comes on DVD.

cabbageboy Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Well, as fun as it was last year seeing Cena get crapped on by that psycho ECW crowd, it was the entirely wrong thing to have booked. It focused the storyline on the exact wrong thing: "OMG, can Cena overcome the odds again???" The real storyline should have been "Can RVD finally win the big one?" The overwhelming Cena hate overshadowed what should have been Van Dam's big moment. Add to it the goofy finish with Edge doing the major damage to Cena and the questionable decision at the time (the next night it was confirmed, but I feared Dusty Finish). In the end they managed to take one of the main things I'd wanted to see for years--RVD winning the title--and made me not care. I think HHH would have been a better choice to go into ONS with the title. At least there if he got crapped on by the crowd it fit the storyline.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 *C.M. Punk & Sandman & Tommy Dreamer vs. Elijah Burke & Marcus Cor Von & Matt Striker This match has officially been added, and is a Tables match.
AntiLeaf33 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 *C.M. Punk & Sandman & Tommy Dreamer vs. Elijah Burke & Marcus Cor Von & Matt Striker This match has officially been added, and is a Tables match. Now I just may have to watch this after all.....
Hawk 34 Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 *C.M. Punk & Sandman & Tommy Dreamer vs. Elijah Burke & Marcus Cor Von & Matt Striker This match has officially been added, and is a Tables match. Well, I called that although it was really the only route they could go with a six-man that doesn't have as much juice as it once did. I would assume that just leaves either MVP/Benoit as the lone straight wrestling match or they'll tack on the submission stipulation. If they add another match, I wouldn't be shocked to see Torrie-Carlito added instead of giving Flair/Carlito a blowoff or giving the SD tag titles a spot this month.
Downhome Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 So how do you punish Orton? Why you have him destroy top talents, that's how!
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 So how do you punish Orton? Why you have him destroy top talents, that's how! If you are talking about RVD as one of the top talents, it's more to punish RVD for leaving then it is to help build up Randy Orton. But hey if you rather watch RVD/Snitsky, then boycot the WWE.
The Amazing Rando Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 So how do you punish Orton? Why you have him destroy top talents, that's how! If you are talking about RVD as one of the top talents, it's more to punish RVD for leaving then it is to help build up Randy Orton. But hey if you rather watch RVD/Snitsky, then boycot the WWE. Losing to Orton isn't really punishing RVD. Hell, it was a CONCUSSION storyline. Hurting RVD would have been an insanely over-the-top squash and burial job, not "oh no, just like HBK!" Now, had he been thoroughly beaten up by Chris Masters and then Masterlocked and then beaten up again, then yeah... that would be a bit more like "punishment".
Downhome Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 So how do you punish Orton? Why you have him destroy top talents, that's how! If you are talking about RVD as one of the top talents, it's more to punish RVD for leaving then it is to help build up Randy Orton. But hey if you rather watch RVD/Snitsky, then boycot the WWE. No matter what you think, RVD is a top talent in the eyes of the fans, in terms of their reaction to him. It would make far more sense to have Snitsky in the place of RVD right now as well. They've had Snitsky beating the ECW originals, and then RVD beat him by DQ, and then they just stopped it to stick Orton in the spot. With a rumor being that Snitsky might be a major player pretty soon, having him take out RVD would've made a lot of sense. I don't want to see RVD/Snitsky, I hate Snitsky, but it sure makes a lot more sense. With Orton, they're obviously building him up, for HHH's return, but they're still doing a lot of good for Orton in the meantime. He did what he did a while back, as well as everything else that he's been a part of, and then in just a matter of a week or two they have him take out HBK, one of the top talents in the company no matter how you look at it, and then have him destroy RVD as well, in a major angle. Randy Orton doesn't deserve all of this, even if it's just leading to him being destroyed by a returning HHH.
Scroby Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 is Rob Van Dam wrestling on Sunday? The way it sounded tonight on ECW, (kayfabe wise) RVD will be able to wrestle on Sunday but yet I haven't heard anything about him having a match.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 is Rob Van Dam wrestling on Sunday? The way it sounded tonight on ECW, (kayfabe wise) RVD will be able to wrestle on Sunday but yet I haven't heard anything about him having a match. I just went to WWE.com and it says Orton vs. RVD have been added to ONS in a Stretcher Match.
mysterious_w Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 I can cope with a job to Orton on his way out, especially if he busts out the Van Terminator. Is the tables match one fall or elimination?
Guest aaron24wood Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 Going by the Smackdown spoilers, this is also on the card: Kane vs. Mark Henry in a Lumberjack match
Lil' Bitch Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 Meh. don't really care about this PPV. The only match I'm interested is the tag titles match and they should have saved that for Vengeance.
AntiLeaf33 Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 I find it kind of odd that every match is "extreme rules", but then they add another stipluation on top of it, thus negating the extreme rules part.
Guest aaron24wood Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 Ah, but you're thinking in TNA Lockdown terms. Because they haven't said "every match will be an extreme rules match". They've said "Every match will have extreme rules". They used the term" extreme rules" to keep up the association with ECW, but it was planned on being a WCW Uncensored-type show where every match is a gimmick match of sorts, but thankfully, unlike TNA, it's not the same one.
