AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2007 Looks like most teams plan to unveil their new jerseys on draft day, so that should be interesting. I really hope every single jersey doesn't get revamped. Just take the exsisting jerseys and switch them over to the new jersey material and all will be well. the max 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2007 The Habs dealt Samsonov to the Blackhawks for Cullimore and Salmelainen. The Habs say that they'll buy out Cullimore and evaluate Salmelainen's presence on the team. The Blackhawks lose this, I think.

The Habs say that they'll buy out Cullimore and evaluate Salmelainen's presence on the team. The Blackhawks lose this, I think If the Hawks get unmotivated Sergei Samsonov they lose this easily. If they get motivated Sergei Samsonov, it could be a steal. Especially with Havlat on the other wing.

AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2007 This is Cullimore second stint with the Habs I believe. Good move in moving dead weight off the team. Yeah, he was with the Habs at the beginning of his career and then he was shipped off to Tampa Bay, I believe.

Yeah, I believe most teams plan to keep their current logos. Two teams that will change their logos are Dallas and Washington.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2007 I like this a lot. It'd be nice if Cullimore's money against the cap was put towards Souray, but the biggest detractor of the Habs' success is gone.

Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2007 Some website (not eklunds site) says the Kings are looking at Daniel Briere. I don't talk to my buddy anymore, so I don't know about this. I'd like it a lot though.

You can wear vintage jerseys as a third and it won't count because they aren't debuting in the league.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2007 Buffalo is also looking to change their jersey for next year as well. And yes, there are no third jersey's for a few years. The Toronto Sun reported that John Muckler has been fired from Ottawa.

Buffalo should just return to the old school logo, it seemed like they wore it more than their regular jersey as the season and postseason progressed. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 The Toronto Sun reported that John Muckler has been fired from Ottawa. I heard that on the radio this morning -- it's not definite, but it's looking that way. Roy Mlakar could be out as team president also, which would be a shame. Further speculation has Bryan Murray being made the new GM, with John Paddock, Claude Julien and Randy Cunneyworth (all of whom have ties to the team or the city) mentioned as possible new head coaches should Murray decide not to be GM/coach. Paddock has also been mentioned regarding the Bruins vacancy.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 Why would they want to blow up the front office, they just made the Cup Finals? Rumour is that Melnyk specifically instructed Muckler to get Gary Roberts at the trade deadline, and his failure to do so sealed his fate. That's a dumb reason to fire him, given that they made the Cup Finals
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 This wasn't a great season for Muckler, and I could understand firing him. He made the terrible Gerber acquisition, lucked into Comrie (remember that he was originally going after Petr Nedved, which would have been awful) and didn't do what his boss wanted him to do at the deadline. Melnyk never hired him in the first place; he was already there when Melnyk bought the team. Throw in the fact that he doesn't get along with Bryan Murray (who Melnyk did hire) at all, and it's not hard to see why he'd be let go, finals or no finals. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 And it's confirmed, Ottawa is now looking for a new head coach. Bryan Murray is taking over for the fired John Muckler and leaving the bench. Linkage

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 oh, and that Ray Emery is no good. What about bringing back Curtis Joseph and or Ed Belfour. And we need Nik Antropov and Aki Berg back.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 oh, and that Ray Emery is no good. What about bringing back Curtis Joseph and or Ed Belfour. And we need Nik Antropov and Aki Berg back. You're kind of all over the place there. I'm sure Chris will handle the rest of the Emery thing, but he did have a respectable G.A.A. (2.47), SP (.919) and 5 shutouts, and given who the other option was for Ottawa..... Assuming you're actually talking about Toronto in the second and third statements, Belfour? Come on. You and Barron are the only people on the planet who can see logic in that. Joseph, on the other hand, would be interesting. In addition to playing for far less money now, he still looked awfully good at times, was a crowd favourite in Toronto, and had a good repoire with many guys who still play for Hogtown. Also, Antropov still is in Toronto. And finally, Fuck Aki Berg. Interesting developments in Nashville, with Philly giving back its first round pick, and acquiring the rights, for two more weeks, for Hartnell and Timmonen. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 I didn't realise Murray and Muckler didn't get along. I'm going to miss, very much, hearing Murray interviewed as often.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 I was only busting balls here. I think their best chance in getting a good coach is Claude Julien.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 I'll agree to that. Julien, while he wasn't outstanding in either Montreal or New Jersey, was certainly effective.
treble 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 Don Cherry brought up a good point about the Roberts situation. Jacques Martin was going to make it really hard for Muckler (the guy who fired him) to get Roberts, and, I love Gary Roberts, but he's not worth overpaying for. I don't hate Aki Berg, he was just a Toronto media whipping boy, for the most part.
