2GOLD Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer opens so it'll more than likely snap up the top spot. Darkhorse teen/kids movie Nancy Drew also opens but I just don't see it doing so hot after seeing the previews for it.
bob_barron Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Fantastic Four 2 will be #1 next weekend. Knocked Up fell a bit more then I was expecting, but I didn't think Surf's Up would have such a disappointing opening
Youth N Asia Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Glad to see Knocked Up do well. Great movie. I thought Oceans would open bigger, and I was hoping Hostle would
Lord of The Curry Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 "Fuck off with the goddamn penguin shit" - Moviegoers of the world, to Hollywood
fazzle Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Wow. I severely overestimated Hostel's ability to at least pull in a good opening weekend.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 I saw Knocked Up last night at the 11pm showing. Place was packed to the brim. Good to see that its doing strong.
cabbageboy Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Well, I noted last week that Hostel is out at the wrong time of year. It would do much better around Halloween in October, such as the Saw movies being released at that time. And truth be told, Hostel wasn't a movie that exactly demanded a sequel, since there isn't that ONE killer to market the franchise around (it's just various people paying money to torture and kill). A marketable horror series has to have a recurring character: Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kreuger, Jigsaw, etc. Hostel was a film that was a shocking, disturbing horror flick but do I necessarily want to see more people get tortured and killed in eastern Europe?
Craig Th Posted June 10, 2007 Author Report Posted June 10, 2007 "Fuck off with the goddamn penguin shit" - Moviegoers of the world, to Hollywood During one of the trailers online a critic said "one of the most original movies in a long time" or something like that.

Just because it's about penguins, doesn't mean it wasn't original. Never heard of a cartoon being done as a mockumentary
Slayer Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 The previews sure didn't look original... the young go-getter protagonist, his goofy best friend/sidekick, the strong-willed female lead and the big bully antagonist The fact it features penguins didn't even register to me
foleyfanforever88 Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 Anyone see Ocean's 13? I saw it last night. I liked it..but I also liked 12, which a lot of people I know thought was crap.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 I finally saw Spider-Man 3 on Monday, did I help it out at all?
Mik Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 The premise of Surf's Up made me groan when I saw the preview the first time, but after I found it was a mockumentary I wanted to see it. The good reviews also steered me in that direction. I'll probably blindly buy the DVD when it comes out.
