I still think a Richard Jefferson for Zach Randolph swap makes too much sense for either side to pass up.

WAY too much sense. The best trade for both teams. The Nets would be a contender with a solid guy on the block for Kid to get the ball to and Portland gets their small forward in the underrated Jefferson who can do alot when he isn't sharing superstar time with Vince and Kidd (he was amazing for that half a season when Kidd was gone and there was no Carter there...)

There's some buzz here in D.C. that the Wizards are interested in Randolph. I could see the Blazers going for it if they got Caron Butler, who would fill the same role as Jefferson and has a pretty good contract for his talent. If Antawn Jamison exercises his option, taking him instead of Butler could also give the Blazers a big expiring contract to clear space for Roy and Aldridge down the road, though that seems like it's coming a year too soon for their inevitable extensions.

Randolph could reasonably be traded for Antawn Jamison, Lamar Odom, Richard Jefferson or Rashard Lewis. But since this is the NBA and every GM likes to try and overthink everything, he'll end back on the team and Aldridge will find a nice spot on the bench.

Or they could have Aldridge play alongside Randolph.

Oden-Randolph-Aldridge-Roy-Jack/Rodriguez.

That's the beauty of having Randolph out there as trade bait this year- other teams could use him a lot more than the Blazers do. But having Portland hang on to him isn't such a bad thing, either, especially with the depth they have on the team and with all the draft picks they have this year. And of course, the 20 and 10 numbers he can put up, even if it might take away scoring opportunities away from the other big 3 (Roy, Aldridge, and presumably Oden).

Anyone have any good knowledge of Rodney Stuckey? Pistons' fans are in love with this guy for whatever reason and there have been indicators that the Pistons might pick him at #15. I've seen a couple things on him; I'm just wary about a guy coming from a smaller school.

I agree with most everything said in the description. I've seen him play a few times. He is a great scorer.

There are rumors all over that the Suns will trade Shawn Marion to the Celtics for Delonte West, the no. 5 pick and Theo Ratliff's contract. That at least makes some sense for both sides.

I don't care for that trade as Marion is getting up there in years. If it were the Marion of 4 years ago then I'd do that deal in a heart-beat.

I just want a rotation of Rondo, Pierce, Richard Jefferson, KG, and Big Al with Green, West, Gomes and whatever else on the bench. I don't care if the Celts have to get the Irish Mafia involved to make it happen so long as it happens.

Seriously? Marion just turned 29 and averaged 22/12 two years ago when he was the focal point of an offense. As just a part of the offense this year, he averaged a paltry 18/10. Oh, and he's one of the best all-around defensive players in the league, top 10 in steals, and at 6'7" grabs more defensive rebounds than almost every center. I think Paul Pierce is great, but Marion would be the best overall player on the Celtics, and you'd be getting him for an expiring contract, a decent PG you don't need if you have Rondo, and a young unproven player (and you certainly don't need any more of them).

Not sure if I'd like to be compared to Dajuan Wagner if I am a prospect.

If I am Portland I want to move Randolph in the off-season. Go get your maximum value.

See, I just assumed that everyone thought that this was one of the worst trades they've ever heard.

I don't think he and Pierce would mesh well together on the court. If you bring in Marion then you're trading Pierce and if you're trading Pierce then you're doing so for about 60 cents on the dollar at best now since he signed that max extension.

I don't know how Marion would interfere with Pierce at all. Marion's offensive game relies on picking up the garbage up off of rebounds and corner jumpers. Marion can do the same thing he's done in Phoenix anywhere else in the league, and Pierce and Rondo should be able to create shots at will. Defensively, Marion's natural position is the 3, but he's been playing a 4 for how many years now? A lineup of Rondo, Pierce, Gomes, Marion and Jefferson leaves no toes stepped on. Or if you want to go big, Rondo, Pierce, Marion, Jefferson and Perkins - not a lineup that's my cup of tea, but it could work. Szcerbiak, Allen and Gomes are all interchangeable in the middle, and they are also dispensible, considering the stalwarts in the starting lineup.

But that trade is absurd. If you're willing to get Marion, you might want to think about offering someone in the starting lineup first.

Ohio State's Daequan Cook has announced that he is going to stay in the draft and will be hiring Mike Conley, Sr. as his agent. According to the DDN, Cook has shot the three well in his pre-draft workouts.

Probably a good idea, since I think he will go in the 18-25 range. I really don't think he will be any better than a #3 option on a team, but he has a ton of athleticism, so he will have many opportunities to prove himself.

Everyone thinks the Knicks promised Wilson Chandler a spot. I really doubt they'd let it out in the open like that, the Knicks. And theres no way we pass up o Derrick Byars or should.

I wonder if Oden will follow in the footsteps of previous legendary big men and be dominant and a force to be reckoned with for the next 10+ seasons, or will he just pan out like most before him with much hype like Olowhatever with the Clippers, or Darius Miles, etc.

I've never seen him play before, but watching some highlight packages, he looks promising.

I've read the Pistons are interested in Marion. It'd be a good acquisition, but would it carry them to another championship? They need to get Wallace back, or someone like him.

Yes, Darius Miles. He was heavily hyped up, and has never delivered. I mistakenly thought he was the 1st pick overall that year, but later realised he was the third overall.

I was pretty much on an exodus from basketball from 2000 until the Pistons won the championship, and ever since, only watch every once and a while.

Greg Oden is going to be 1,000,000,000 times the player that Olowokandi was.

Olowokandi couldn't tie Oden's shoes.

Can anybody give me their opinion on Jason Smith from Colorado State? I have read his profile on nbadraft.net, but for those that have seen him play, can he become a decent contributor at the next level.

Kandi not being able to tie Oden's shoes: sounds about right. Oden will be a great player.

A: Come on. Darius Miles isn't a bust. he has been injured and his career is over, but the guy has averaged double figures for 4 years straight, about 5 rebounds 2 assist and a block over the same period. I personally feel he would excel in a uptempo offense...well...WOULD have excelled in a up tempo offense.

And Michael Olowokandi was never really that hyped. He was supposed to be the best big in that draft, and outside of Dirk, you would be hard to argue against it. That draft kinda sucked upon the balls for big man prospects.

So for the draft. I would like the hawks to either take Horford or Yi(hey...money talks) with the third pick and Acie Law IV with the 11th pick.

I would like to see the Suns take a shooter like Morris Almond or a shooter with PG like skills like Marco Belinelli with their first pick, and trade down on the second one and take either Nick Fazekas or....wait for it....Glen Davis with their second pick.

Hells yeah....Glen Davis.

Darius Miles is fat now. I have heard like 30lbs over his playing weight. There are stories that the trainer is having a time just getting him to work out, let alone work out hard. He had the surgery SEVEN months ago and hasn't been cleared to run yet. RUN.

Yeah, you can come back from microfracture, but you have to, you know, actually do something. It won't just happen.

Hadn't heard that, but it doesn't surprise me given this guy's attitude and history. I still can't believe that ownership rejected a trade that would have sent him to New York for David Lee and expiring contracts.

Shouldn't a third overall pick have higher expectations than averaging double figure in points?

Not to mention that he's still causing problems with Randolph here and there as well. If Portland is getting rid of one, they have to get rid of the other.

Also, here's one of the sillier sports rumors I've ever heard:

Sonics might try to move up to No. 1

Friday, Jun 22, 2007 1:59 pm EDT

A few NBA insiders believe an impressive workout and interview by Greg Oden or Kevin Durant might prompt the Seattle SuperSonics to try to move up to No. 1 or broker a trade with the Portland Trailblazers to secure the player they want.

Would the Sonics deal one of their point guards or agree to a sign-and-trade deal involving Rashard Lewis for either Oden or Durant? Or will they simply sit back and take whichever player Portland doesn't select?

Source: Seattle Times

Retarded. Portland's gonna take Oden, Seattle will take Durant. Oden didn't even work out for the Sonics, and Durant only just recently changed his mind to do so after earlier refusing.
