Wow. What a DUMB pick by Philly.

You have Rodney Carney. Why the FUCK would you take another SF.

Not to mention, isn't Korver a SF too?

Yep, and one of their issues was they needed someone strong inside to rebound. So what do the 76ers do? Draft a 6'7 guy whose main thing against him was he isn't that good of a rebounder.

I have no damn idea what they are doing with the pick. They had Wright and Thornton on the board and they went around them for a SF with rebounding issues.

I pointed out Carney because they are the same fucking player only Carney is a better shooter...and defender....and rebounder....

The rumor was in the other trade. I like it not only because of Randolph, but we get expiring contracts that total to about 6 million.

How about this one, Knicks fans?

The Portland Trail Blazers and New York Knicks have had serious discussions about a trade that would send Zach Randolph and Martell Webster to the Knicks for Steve Francis and Channing Frye. Other parts have been included in proposals, but all combinations include Randolph.

Yeeeeeeeah. I don't know exactly where Steve Francis fits there, or at least that'd put Jack and Rodriguez on the bench. So, Oden-Frye-Aldridge-Roy-Francis?! That is a young, deep team. I'm just not sure I dig Francis there.

What was the entire trade? I know Randolph, Francis and Frye are in it, but forgot who were all the participants?

Randolph, Dickau and Fred Jones for Francis and Frye.

I don't know...he was yelling too much.

The Warriors just took that guy to keep him from the Suns and they know it. The last thing they needed was a guard with Baron, Monta Ellis, Jason Richardson, Pietrus, and Jackson.

Fuckers.

I'm surprised people like the Celtics trade. Ray Allen was injured last year, and ankle injuries are dangerous for an NBA player. They aren't going to win a championship with this team after the trade, and they gave away building blocks to do it. If the plan is to win now this isn't going to get it done, while throwing away the future as well.

OH my god. Between Dick Vitale and Stephen A. Smith, this has to be the most intolerable ESPN broadcast ever.

The Blazers have FOUR freakin' picks in the next round. Think they'll do something with that? Trade em to some team that needs to get younger for some depth in the frontcourt?

They still have their top 3 rated young players (Jefferson, Green and Rondo) so I wouldn't say they threw away their future. Pierce and Boston fans want to win now, and they got a hall of fame caliber player without giving up all that much. Managing to trade Wally SZ in the deal while still having Ratliff to deal puts it over the top IMO. I didn't see anyone there at 5 who would have been a great fit or made an imediate impact. West is a good young player but it was a small price to pay for a player of Ray Allen's stature.

They aren't going to win a championship - I suppose it depends on what you mean by "winning now." Will they win more games? Sure. Will they make the playoffs? Probably. Will they make the finals? Probably not. Will they *win* the finals? (You know, the ultimate goal) Absolutely not.

The fact is, the Celtics can not win now. They just can't. Their strategy has been to persue younger players who will mature at around the same time and Ray Allen will be gone by the time that happens. West doesn't bother me that much but the #5 pick in this draft is pretty valuable.

That's IF Ray Allen can actually play more than 50 games. I'm torn...Pierce got what HE wanted so HE better step the hell up and win something with Ray and Al.

Still need a real Center unless Theo can actually play for a change.

They were damned if you do damned if you don't. They had to make a move with all the talk in the media about KG and Pierce being unhappy, but if they traded Jefferson and Green to get KG they wouldn't have been guaranteed to win now AND would have sold their future in the process. They made a deal that should make them a favorite in the Atlantic and poised to make it past the first round of the playoffs, makes Pierce/the fans happy, and keeps Jefferson/Green ensuring that their future remains bright. I don't see how you can give them anything but a thumbs up. Plus from a salary cap standpoint it's a huge move by moving Wally and still having Ratliff (their top salary/tradepiece throw in).
