Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 This will be on in a little bit. I find this more incredible than any other sporting accomplishment. Eating five hot dogs a minute is better than 755.
Dandy Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 I'm watching it. I wish they would televise clips of each competitor's specialty or world record. I would love to watch the jalapeno contest, and they just said Bertoletti ate 15.5 lbs of strawberry shortcake in 8 minutes.
Bruiser_Brody_ Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Inoki just got mentioned on ESPN as a "famous Japanese athlete" for his MMA bout with ALi
Mik Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Dude, they said they are going for 20 hot dogs in 2 minutes to open the contest. That's insanity. I'm hoping that Kobayashi brings it and we see a race to 60.
Mik Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 He ate his own vomit. That's sick. I hope they don't DQ him so he can keep his 62. But yeah - 63 for Chestnut or whatever it ends up is just nuts.
Dandy Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 I would like to see my buddy get in this. I don't think there is any way he could beat those two right now, but he'd probably get top 5. He owns every eating contest record around here, and a bunch of other records in the state. He was in a hotdog contest here a couple years back and he quit eating after 3 minutes in a 10 minute contest because no one could come close.

Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 How about that other chick that ate 10% of her body weight in cheesecake in 10 minutes. That's pretty nuts.
fazzle Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 THIS IS THE GREATEST MOMENT IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICAN SPORTS! ...shut up stupid announcer guy.
MFer Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 The guy who finished 3rd put up 49 and Sonya Thomas didn't even place top 5 so it looks like the competition is getting a lot stronger. We didn't even get to see the two fat asses this year, Cookie Jarvis and Eric "Badlands" Booker. Wonder if Chestnut can break 70 next year.
Dandy Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Wait until these guys start dropping dead 15 years from now, and the media will be calling for the organizers' heads.
fazzle Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 It was ridiculous looking at that wall they were walking in front of, and seeing that 9 1/2, 10, 13, etc used to be good enough to win it.
Mik Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 I know. I am by no means a monster eater but I feel like I could do between 15-20. Unreal that before Kobayashi came along the winning total was in the high 20s.

Slayer Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 I wonder what's the equivalent of steroids in the world of competitive eating
