I heard the trailer was coming out for this soon. Any movie that teams up Jack Black and Mos Def is an automatic sold ticket for me, but when I heard the premise for this, I can't wait.

I'll probably pass. I didn't laugh once during the commercial. I find Jack Black very hard to watch, except in School of Rock. I find that he tries too hard to be funny most of the time.

Yep, it looks just as awesome as I imagined way back. I've been tracking this film for almost two years now, have the screenplay and from what I've read it's fantastic. This is likely the #1 movie that I'm looking forward to next.

I'll watch anything Michel Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Gondry makes. For the Jack Black haterz, remember, this is the same director who made Jim Carrey seem completely believable as a shy, introspective guy.

I always thought Carrey's dramatic roles were light years ahead of the comedic ones. I never found him to be funny except for Bruce Almighty. I liked him better in The Majestic. Carrey is a better actor than Black as well. Carrey has showed that he has range, something that Black hasn't shown. He plays the same character in EVERY movie. His best performance was in School of Rock, IMO.

No. His characters in Orange County, Dead Man Walking, Shallow Hal, and High Fidelity were all completely different kinds of guys.

 

And... you LIKED The Majestic? A goddamn "washes up on the beach with amnesia" plot, in this day & age? I wanted to puke at the syrupy stuff like, Carrey wakes up and goes outside and finds the entire town in line, waiting patiently for him open the theater. The only bit I enjoyed was Bruce Campbell's all-too-short cameo as an over-the-top movie hero.
