Budlight "Mr. Delusional Michigan Fan."

Recommended Posts

I was driving to get my lunch today on my break, and this is what came on the radio. As a Columbus, Ohio native... I think it is possibly the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Thoughts?

"Bud Light presents Real Men of Genius"

(Reaaaaal Men Of Genius)

Today we salute you, Mr. Delusional Michigan Fan.

(Mr. Delusional Michigan Faaaaaan!)

Season after season, year after year, you try to justify your absurdly high preseason ranking.

(Clutching at straws!)

Season after season, year after year, you scramble to make futile attempts at damage control when the Wolverines lose to a grossly inferior opponent.

(How'd Northwestern score fifty fouuuuuur?)

Inevitably, you'll bring up the past, and boast of National Championships won 40 years before you were born.

(Those were the daaaaaays!)

You will point out that you have more wins than any other program as though that is relevant to the current season.

(Been playing since the 1870s!)

Go on, ignore that home loss to your archrivals in the regular season finale and continue to believe that you'll defeat your bowl opponent with striking ease.

(We'll win by thirteeeeeeey!)

So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, oh Emperor of Excuses, and take comfort knowing that when you don't finish in the top 25, you'll be back to number three when the preseason polls come out next year.

(Mr. Delusional Michigan Fan!)

die.

Hey now, we had to deal with Adult Swim knocking Ohio State TWICE last year. I'm pretty sure a Bud Light commercial that will only be heard in Ohio won't do you any harm.

It's not my fault you guys bombed your first two games.

That whole ad campaign ceased being amusing after about the fifth variation ("It's not funny anymooooooore!")

While it has gotten old, there are a few that are rather hilarious still, this absolutely being one of them.

Reminds me of a certain dh86 before the Rose Bowl game against USC...

Has anyone written a parody about the ads themselves? That I'd like to see

"Here's to you, Mr. Guys Who Write the Real Men of Genius Ads"

"(Drivin' the joke into the groooo-ooooound!)"

You're pretty bitter about these ads aren't you?

and what?

You'd think that an ad campaign as prolific as this one would've itself been satirized by this point, given how thin they've had to stretch the premises by this point

1997, the last year pre-BCS.

Split the national title with Nebraska (AP for Michigan, Coaches for NU) under debatable circumstances

There's another version of this that's "Mr. Delusional Alabama Fan".

Instead of "How did Northwestern score fifty-four?!?" it was "We shoulda' hired Coach Croom..."
