That's not saying much... Marshall hasn't been very good in probably 5-6 years and they lost to a I-AA team last week.

That's not the point. The play on the field has been very impressive against all the teams they have played this year regardless of the fact that Marshall is an embarassment.

STANFORD~ has scored 21 unanswered points to take a 24-21 lead on Oregon late in the first half. Sadly this game is televised no where in the free world.

EDIT: Make it 31-21!

I want no part of Marshall. Chad Pennington kicked the crap out of U of L in a bowl in 1998, the Byron Leftwich did it again in 2002 (which was the game where John L. Smith quit at the half). They may suck now, but if U of L can give up 42 to Middle TN, anything is possible. Get this...so far U of L's division 1A opponents have scored 42, 40, and 38.

Brian Brohm has to be one of the biggest fools ever in college sports for coming back this year. I thought it was a stupid move to come back for a senior year with a new coach, but I thought it would be a "we were 11-1 and now 9-3" kind of bad move. Right now we're looking at 3-9 or something horrid.

I love this team.

The second one gets the slightest thought of, "USC might be in tough this time," they go hang 27 straight on the other team, effectively killing that idea.

The best way to beat SC is to hang about 10 points back for two or three quarters and try to get points in quick succession. Getting a tie or the lead gets their attention, and it's game over.

So what is everyone's opinion of Mike Patrick's bizarre Britney Spears name drop during overtime of the Georgia/Alabama game? An announcer going senlie or some idiot ESPN producer trying to get the announcer to make a pop culture reference to cater to all those non-sports fans watching a late night SEC football game? I'll go with senility as Todd Blackledge seemed to have no clue why the hell he'd randomly bring up Britney especially at that point in the game.

UCF destroyed Memphis 56-20 to make it 2-1 this season. At least they have water now(big news this week as they ran out of water in the 3rd quarter. No water fountains. GENIUS)

I was impressed by what I saw out of UCF last week against Texas. George O'Leary has been doing a nice job down there building that team.

Funny water story. Can't recall ever hearing that about a college football game before.

Beautiful fake FG by LSU to take a 20-7 lead on South Carolina. One of the best fake FG's I've ever seen.

My high school's rival pulled that same play a couple years ago.

That fake FG was just a nice looking play. It probably looked better than it was because South Carolina bit so terribly on it and the runner had an impeded route to the end zone but it was just very smooth and effective.

So with week four in the season nearly complete who does everyone think is making a run for the Heisman? I know that I mentioned this in a previous thread but I think if Andre Woodson can keep Kentucky on track and Kentucky makes a run at the SEC East title (which of course would mean beating Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee which will not be an easy task) then he has to be considered a frontrunner. Lee Corso says Mike Hart but with Michigan's season thus far the only way I see him getting back in is if Michigan runs the table and soundly defeats Ohio State this year. I think Brian Brohm and Darren McFadden's chances are both hurt by their teams having two losses although both guys are putting up solid numbers. Some could argue Colt Brennan but I think that will only happen if Hawaii runs the table and gets a BCS berth. I'd have to put Tim Tebow near the top of my list because of the way he has carried Florida offensively such as today with two rushing TDs and two passing TDs.

Woodson, Brennan, McFadden, Tebow, Booty, Slaton, White and Dennis Dixon if they continue playing like this/Colt McCoy if they run the table. That's it.

I really like Woodson. A lot.

Damn it, I knew I forgot someone. DeSean Jackson.

In their two Pac-10 games Stanford been out scored 62-10 in the 2nd half.

Next Saturday we got Oregon Vs. Cal in what should be an offensive explosion. The word around here is that College Gameday is going to be in Eugene.

Yeah, I just finished my Top 25 too. Wow, was it brutal this week. Honestly, once I got past the Top 20, there was just no one good at all, and I agonized over each selection, yet still somehow filled out a Top 32. You're only allowed to criticize the teams below #20 if you can find better teams to put in their place. Just saying "X team doesn't deserve to be ranked" isn't a criticism, because I already know that. I got so desperate, I was actually considering Hawaii for the last close spot (along with teams like UCF, Illinois, and Virginia). Without further ado, here's my Top 25:

(Previous week's ranking in parenthesis)

1. LSU 4-0 (2)

2. USC 3-0 (1)

3. Oklahoma 4-0 (3)

4. West Virginia 4-0 (6)

5. Oregon 4-0 (5)

6. Florida 4-0 (4)

7. Ohio State 4-0 (7)

8. Texas 4-0 (8)

9. California 4-0 (12)

10. Boston College 4-0 (10)

11. South Carolina 3-1 (9)

12. Kentucky 4-0 (17)

13. Rutgers 3-0 (13)

14. Georgia 3-1 (23)

15. Wisconsin 4-0 (16)

16. Cincinnatti 4-0 (18)

17. USF 4-0 (20)

18. Missouri 4-0 (21)

19. Clemson 4-0 (22)

20. Miami 3-1 (NR)

21. Arizona State 4-0 (NR)

22. Penn State 3-1 (11)

23. Alabama 3-1 (14)

24. Virginia Tech 3-1 (NR)

25. Tennessee 2-2 (NR)

Close, in order: Michigan, Nebraska, UCLA, Kansas, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Purdue

Someone explain to me why Brian Brohm and Colt Brennan are seen as possible Heisman candidates but Graham Harrell and Curtis Painter aren't at this stage of the season? Opponents played in bracket. While I understand the "system" argument... as Colt has said before on ESPN, isn't the goal as a QB to master the system you're put in?

My issue of contention mainly is that Brennan is considered a Heisman hopeful despite playing what would've been 2 FCS teams in his first 4 games (I love the FCS but...) while Harrell is the only QB of the foursome to have not played an FCS opponent yet.

Brian Brohm (Murray State, Middle Tennessee, Kentucky, Syracuse): 114/168, 1697 yards, 15 TD vs. 3 INT, Sacked 4 times, 13 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD

Colt Brennan (Northern Colorado, Louisiana Tech, UNLV): 103/133, 1262 yards, 12 TD vs. 1 INT, Sacked 5 times, 34 yards rushing, 4 rushing TDs

Graham Harrell (SMU, UTEP, Rice, Oklahoma State): 166/227, 1963 yards, 19 TD vs. 2 INT, Sacked 3 times, -22 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD

Curtis Painter (Toledo, Eastern Illinois, Central Michigan, Minnesota): 114/166, 1290 yards, 16 TD vs. 1 INT, Sacked 2 times, 7 yards rushing

Brohm's chances of winning the Heisman are pretty close to zero at this point. As for the other three, Brennan plays for a ranked and nationally visible team, while the other two don't. I don't think it's much more complex than that.

Mike Gundy goes fucking nuts.

I hope you have sons. Beautiful, handsome boys. Articulate, educated, and athletic. And I hope they have their legs taken from them, so you can know what this pain is like.

And the moment you've all waited for...the first Harris Poll! You know that poll that a bunch of random "football people" vote on that has a huge hand in deciding who plays for the BCS Championship. No, don't remember? Here it is anyways.

Coaches and AP poll also ranked Georgia ahead of South Carolina. Aww, short memories. And yes there are people in this world who still think Louisville should be ranked.

1. USC (91)

2. LSU (19)

3. Oklahoma (1)

4. Florida (3)

5. West Virginia

6. California

7. Ohio State

8. Texas

9. Wisconsin

10. Oregon

11. Boston College

12. Rutgers

13. Clemson

14. Kentucky

15. Georgia

16. Virginia

17. South Carolina

18. Hawaii

19. Penn State

20. South Florida

21. Missouri

22. Alabama

23. Arizona State

24. Nebraska

25. Michigan State

Other Receiving Votes: Purdue 268, Cincinnati 180, Miami 114, UCLA 114, Kansas 72, Michigan 43, Texas A&M 38, Arkansas 26, Louisville 26, Connecticut 24, Virginia 17, Florida State 12, Georgia Tech 11, Tennessee 10, UCF 6, Illinois 4, BYU 1, Texas Tech 1, Washington 1
