NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 This movie didn't get a lot of hype for it's theatrical release, but that is sort of good because it was TOTALLY mis-advertised as a horror movie in the same light as "The Fly" I'd definately say this is more of a psychological thriller and it is fucking good. Very good performance by Ashley Judd here, seriously overlooked for a possible Oscar nomination. It is cool how the flick has you thinking there could different explanations as to what is going on, but by the end you realize the two main characters were just some major tweaking meth heads Anyone else see this flick? bob_barron 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Yes. I still don't know what to make of it. I think I hated it, though I'm not sure. The fact that it was misadvertised led to a very hostile audience when I saw it. People were waiting for something, anything to happen and it never did. I could see how this worked as an Off Broadway play, but I don't think it was meant to be a movie
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I want to see it, but it wasn't playing here at a time I could get to the theater to see it. Maybe I'll use the money I was going to spend on Death Proof and buy Bug insetad.
Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I liked it quite a bit. It's probably one of my favorite movies of 2007 so far, and a nice little fucked up character drama.

Brocklock 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2007 I really thought it was great. I thought it was the most intense movie I've seen in a long time. It also grossed me out at parts like when Peter starts pulling out his teeth. I also thought their insane explanations about how the bugs got their towards the end was pretty fucked up as well. Ashley Judd was fantastic in this and her insanity was well acted. Michael Shannon was solid as well. Harry Connick Jr. plays an amazing prick. It seems to be a love it or hate it type of movie. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2007 No. I'm going to say it wasn't good at all. In fact, leaving the theater I remarked "Poor Ashley Judd." But it was incredibly enjoyable, I had so much fun with this one. I suppose it was well cast. Ashley Judd was good, and so was Harry Connick Jr. It was just a shitty movie. I still loved every second of it. It ends in double self immolation for chrissakes. And the doctor taking a hit off the pipe, oh god that slayed me. I'm buying the shit out of that dvd. Which is out tomorrow. YES!
RedJed 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 Didnt know there was a thread for this here - posted originally in the comments thread... Just watched Bug today on DVD - wow, what an actually fascinating film. I think for everyone that finds this film interesting though, there is another who plain out will hate it. Everything in the film is very loosely up to ones own interpretation about what is happening, what this and that means, etc, where you can't really figure out the situation until you understand what the underbelly of this film is about (at least this is how I take it) - and its not really about bugs, per-se. Wasnt really horror to me, but there is some disturbing parts in it. Oh and Ashley Judd gets fully nude a few times during the film, which is always a plus. For those that have seen it, is the real story moreless that Judd is completely out in the clouds from her heavy drug usage (was that meth/crack in the pipe?), drinking, and general depression from losing her child? And that she meets this guy, who is a complete nutjob from whatever testing he had went through. Ultimately, they both become almost hyper-paranoid, delusional, etc. So the bugs aren't real, hell damn near nothing is internally within them, and I dont know if they even REALLY died at the end, given the stuff that rolled shortly after the credits. Apparently the play this was based on....the gist of that was demonstrating their different kinds of paranoid-scizophrenia (with her, the heavy drug usage - with him, who knows, it was pretty speculative on what "they" did to him) kind of coming together and snowballing within each of the two. Overall, a really fucking twisted film that leaves up alot of room for discussion.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2007 Finally saw it. Loved it. Okay, maybe not "loved it" because the whole thing was so unpleasant (the teeth pulling was brutal), but it was a really damn good movie. I might go so far as to put it at #3 for the year. reign 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2007 I loved it..I'd like to go see the play that it's based on..the way it spirals out of control is just insane...I have an observation on the phone ringing that a few of you may have noticed... if you watch after the credits play for a minute you see the picture of the kids toys that Peter got out..and then you hear the phone ring...I took that to mean that her son was the one calling her...
