Should set up a nice, extended Edge/Undertaker feud to Wrestlemania:

Edge probably gets the belt at The Royal Rumble... Taker either wins the Rumble itself or gets the title shot at Wrestlemania in some other fashion.

While I love Edge returning...

I don't really see (in kayfabe) the logic of Edge attacking Undertaker?

In kayfabe edge knows taker is gonna go straight for him the second he returns. so he got in there first

He already defeated Batista 3 times, so he was irrelevant?

I think the plan is an Edge vs Undertaker feud to go all the way to WM24. I assume it will have the title added later - it doesn't need it right now. Batista vs new heel opponent needs the title more. I might do something along the lines of MVP vs Batista, as you could have Hardy come back to stop the feud without anybody winning or losing.

Was Edge playing a camera man - that's weaksause unless he has a hollywood calibre mask on to go with a wig or something. And I don't think that is the case, or the reveal would have been saved for the camera.

I loved that show. Kudos to WWE on that one. I was really hoping HBK vs. Orton would have a clean finish and not some lame screwjob, and there it was. I also popped for the crossface and anklelock.

Orton won when HBK wanted to hit SCM but stopped himself and got nailed with the RKO. The match also involved a sharpshooter, ankle lock and crossface from Shawn.

One odd thing: before the HIAC match JBL said Batista was the only man to beat HHH and Batista in a cell.

Batista def. Batista?

Looks like JBL had a beer or two before the show.

I enjoyed most of the show aside from the tedious crap like Khali/Hornswoggle, although I do now wonder if we're in for a Finlay face turn.

Main event was pretty good though in some ways it seemed kinda halfhearted as though both guys knew the Edge run in was coming and had to do something to occupy time. The last 5 minutes of it were really killer stuff though.

As far as the WWE title match....I'm at a loss for words on that one. I can't believe HBK actually did a crippler crossface. Can't decide if that was kinda funny or just in extremely poor taste. To be honest this match almost seemed to be self parody, which is getting to be more and more common with Michaels matches (the epitome of course being the Hogan SS 2005 match). I'm ready for this feud to be over, we know HBK isn't getting the belt so to hell with it. Just move on and have HHH end the farce already. It disturbs me greatly to hear Ross say stuff like "Orton may be WWE champion for years to come!" since I am worried they are dumb enough to actually DO that. At this point with Shawn it's either shit or get off the pot. Either put the belt on him for a month or so or quit main eventing him.

I'm pretty sure the pre-match stipulation was if Shawn didn't win the belt the feud was over. I know stuff like that doesn't stop them, but I'm not expecting another match anytime soon.

I never, ever thought I'd say this, but bring on Jeff Hardy - WWE title contender - for Armageddon and / or the Rumble.

My full thoughts on this show

CM Punk Vs John Morrison Vs Miz

-Fairly good opener to get the crowd into the show. People might nag about a world title being an opener but it’s not a world title on the level of the other matches. All three men worked well together here including that ‘Rana-power bomb spot. Punk going over strong was the logical choice to make here. There wasn’t much in the way of dramatics in a fairly predictable match but the work was good and the crowd was into it. Now, we'll see where Punk goes from here.

MVP gave a very strong promo and put himself over effectively.

Divas Tag Team Match

-Many feared this match coming in but we got something better and I don’t think it’s a case of lowered expectations. Everyone busted their ass in this match and I’ll applaud them for it. Melina’s botched entrance was good and the second attempt was comical. The match was paced very well, hardly any slow-down at all. This is about as good as you can book a 10 woman tag match with limited workers. The faces’ making a collective effort to contain Beth Phoenix was a good touch at the end. The right girl went over as Mickie took out the entire heel group outside of Beth, so that could lead to something but it’s not likely as they appear to be waiting for Candice to return. Usually a crowd doesn’t care about divas matches unless the promise of skin is evident but they got the crowd into it here, so that is a plus.

Redneck Wrecking Crew Vs Holly and Rhodes

-The least meaningful match was also the least memorable match of the night. That doesn’t mean it was a dud. It felt more like a TV match but kudos for the Redneck Destroyer finish.

The backstage skit with Team HHH was cute with Kane bringing up Katie Vick (which is now the second time in a month they have referenced it) and Jeff bringing up the time HHH put Jeff in the hospital. I appreciate they bothered to explain why they were able to team together.

Survivor Series Match

-The match itself was pretty average but I strongly agreed with the booking. In hindsight, booking it as a 4 on 5 match was a better decision then Matt being obliterated by the heels or having a replacement involved. The eliminations were done quite nicely here. Kane gets pinned with ease to put over BDV and his size in a good segment between the two. Umaga murdering Mysterio was good for both men. At this point, it was 4 on 2 and I’m sure many feared the HHH solo sweep and that didn’t happen. The teamwork between Jeff and HHH was good here. HHH pins Kennedy but it was mostly because of BDV. Jeff and HHH teamed to take out BDV again put over BDV and his size. Jeff taking out MVP to avenge his brother’s injury was a good touch that I expected but not in the middle of the match. Finlay eats a Pedigree as someone had to job to it but given the events of later that night, it doesn’t hurt Finlay. Jeff and HHH double to take out Umaga keeps Umaga strong enough and makes Jeff look like he was on the same level as HHH.

Hornswoggle Vs Khali

-This had train wreck written all over it but it actually delivered here. It was all comedy as it should have been. Shane as a cheerleader for Hornswoggle was cute. Hornswoggle busting out the green mist was a good spot and the most important event, the apparent Finlay face turn which illicted a huge response from the crowd. This could have been dreadful but it wasn't.

Shawn Vs Orton

-This match took some time to get going but the end stretch was pretty fun stuff. Shawn busting out old submission finishers was a good touch even if the moves themselves are questionable, especially the cross face which is likely to draw the most attention. Crowd popped huge for it, so they didn’t seem bothered and I’m betting a good deal of casuals didn’t even make the correlation. The finish was good and logical. Shawn wants to hit SCM but hesitates and in doing so, loses the match. This didn’t need a Montreal finish and I’m glad they resisted the urge. Some will probably bitch about the post match spot, I'm sure.

Hell in a Cell

-Another match that took awhile but it really finished strong. Batista and Undertaker exchanging big blows and finishers in a pool of blood was expected but that didn’t deter from being effective. The finish with Edge was intense with Edge completely laying UT to waste in a vicious and thoroughly effective beat down. The second chair shot was sickening. Edge really came off as a mega heel here and this being the first block of the build to WM really set it off for a good direction.

This was easily the best PPV from WWE this year.

I thought the main was pretty bad, myself. Slow, plodding, uninteresting. Good finishing sequence, but not much beforehand. I also wasn't a fan of the way Edge returned, mainly because he has no kayfabe reason to hate the Undertaker. He came off as a mega heel, though. Good show overall. Opener was hot, lots of great spots to pop the crowd and set a tempo. SS match had a nice flow to it, and the WWE Title match had a lot of cool spots which worked within the stipulations of the match. I'd give MOTN honors to either the WWE or ECW title matches, take your pick, but nothing was outright bad (save the main in my book, but most people seem to have liked it, so).

Actually if the WWE had the guts to do some past booking, just let Edge say that Taker held him down when they were in the ministry together. There's your insta-feud.

How about Edge already beat Batista multiple times and he wouldn't have trouble beating him since he'd be the #1 contender right away and in doing so sent a message to UT by taking him out before UT could get him. That is just far too logical.

I think they'll explain Edge attacking Taker (kayfabe) because

A) Edge took out Taker in May, he knew when he got back Taker would be gunning for him, Edge being a smart opportunistic heel, went after Taker first chance he got

B) Hes beaten Batista 3 times already, he knows he can beat him, when Edge gets his rematch he'll be facing someone he's had success against

That being said, I love the way they have started the build to Taker/Edge at Wrestlemania, look for Edge to get the title back from Batista at Armaggedon or the Rumble

That shouldn't happen. UT needs to carry the title going into WM. Maybe Edge wins the title from Batista but he has to drop it to UT before WM with the idea being Edge says he won't lose this time around because he'll be the one to end the streak which means the world to UT like the title means the world to him.
