Maybe it didn't tank...I dunno. Bob, a little help here?

Yeah, I read somewhere that The Mist's budget is around 20 mil or maybe a little higher so tanks is a little harsh. Someone else probably knows the budget.

I was going to ask what the hell "This Christmas" was, but it's one of those "urban" films that kinda sneaks up and ranks high on the box office report, right?

Yep exactly. I think R&B "sensation" Chris Brown has a supporting role in it.

I really wonder why The Mist was such a bomb. It got decent reviews. Maybe it had a bad release date? It doesn't seem like anybody rushes out to see horror movies on holiday weekends. That's probably it.

It looked like a horrible movie. The premise was really quite silly to expect a buzz. The reviews were good enough but it was promoted horribly.

I think giving everything away in the trailers is what killed "The Mist" right from the start.

Good for "Enchanted", that movie actually looks like a family movie I might not fall asleep during.

It's what killed the film dead for me. Whoever thought that was a good idea needed a kick to the face.

"Enchanted" looks like one of those films I know I'm going to get dragged to see but doesn't look downright terrible. Doesn't look good but it looks like it may not make me wish I was stabbing myself instead of watching it.

The bits I've seen with James Marsden as the goofy over-the-top prince look amusing.

I think if they never actually revealed what was lurking in the mist, that movie would have been garnered a bit more attention...maybe?

I think they lost a large chunk of the people considering seeing it right then. Like I said before when I saw the trailer, the movie is 100% based around the suspense of what is inside the Mist and when you take out pieces of that suspense then you are just left with a Thomas Jane movie. They could have made that trailer exciting and action packed without revealing one BIT of what was lurking in the mist but instead they gave away the entire plot.

Films like that need their suspense element to bring in a crowd and the trailers killed it dead.

that would be like JJ Abrams revealing what's making all that noise and causing all that destruction in that little project of his coming out in January. I mean, we know it's a monster flick, but revealing the monster would be a total disappointment.

Sorry! It's a great family movie though, and Amy Adams totally makes the movie and the premise work. That's How You Know is a great musical number too. Yes, I know that sounds gay, but it's true.

It's just a fun old fashioned Disney movie, with a breakout lead performance. It has a 92% rating at rottentomatoes and a 75 rating at metacritic.

Haven't seen the pop-up editions, but I own HSM 1 and have HSM 2 on the DVR.

Fuck, I didn't know that. I would've DVRed it. Because I have WWE 24-7 and Centre Ice, my Disney Channel viewing is now just limited to new Hannah Montana episodes.

Regarding the Mist:

I wouldn't say it tanked, but it probably didn't live up to expectations. Horror movies usually perform poorly over the Thanksgiving weekend, so I blame bad timing for the disappointing gross. Plus, Hitman was probably some direct competition.

With two new releases coming out over the next two weeks, the movie does have staying power potential
