DarKnight 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2008 Saw Pineapple Express today, and it was awesome. Franco was great, and I loved how the movie stayed funny even in serious life threatening situations. I was glad that someone on here said they didn't like Juno. I wanted to see that movie after hearing all the hype about it, then I watch it, and I'm like "why did anyone think this was good?" One of the most annoying movies I've ever seen. Had the most unrealistic dialogue out of anything.
At Home 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2008 I think lots of people didn't like Juno. Was that released in 2007? Yeah, that was my most hated movie of 2007. Then this year it's Indiana Jones.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2008 This was funny stuff, definitely got better as it went along. What was the last thing Rosie Perez was in? I can't think of the last thing I saw her in, but she hasn't changed much. Question for those who have seen: What happened with Seth Rogen's girlfriend? The last we see of her is when he's calling her bawling and apologizing, but then sorta breaks up with her, though it didn't seem definite. Anyone wonder what happened there? At Home 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2008 The time between the phone call and the farm scene is short, so I'd assume nothing. That was a fucking hilarious conversation though. Included my personal favorite joke in the movie. "You'll go off to college, get into Godspeed! You Black Emperor...."
DarKnight 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2008 I didn't know Juno was hated by many people. If anything, too many people liked it. I couldn't believe it got nominated for all kinds of shit. I can see why people hate the new Indiana Jones, as it wasn't nearly as good as the previous 3, and was also a pointless movie to make. Its the definition of making a movie just for the sake of nostalgia. I liked the movie when I saw it, but I have a feeling if I watch it again, its gonna suck. HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 I don't think he was supposed to be a homo at all. At times somethings he said seemed a little gay but I don't think he was actually supposed to be gay at all. Rather I'd say stoned and "happy" and really wanting a friend. Also, I don't think they ever really make it clear who he was talking to, I just assumed his grandmother because I believe he shows up to see her shortly after and thats when he is kidnapped?? I could have something out of order though Yeah, I was thinking maybe his grandma, but the conversation seemed a little more "personal" almost like it was his significant other or something. And he called whoever it was a "pimp" before too, so thats why I wondered if they were trying to portray Franco's character was gay. It was his grandma. He apologizes to her about not moving the clocks forward for her. Franco isn't gay. He got a handjob from some girl thanks to Red.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 Yeah, everybody hates Juno. Except people who've never been exposed to that type of person. People who are that type of person hate it because it holds a mirror up to how annoying they are. I came around on it, once I realized that I am no better than her. I like it now. But this is the Pineapple Express thread! What a great movie. I think I wanna see it again. I mean, it had a Huey Lewis and the News theme song, for chrissakes. The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 Really... I wasn't expecting such awesome fights for a movie like this. Just a pure treat, and it's something that could make James Franco huge outside of the Spiderman franchise. I just can't see anyone else as Saul.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 Hm... I heard his name as Sol.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 Everything I have read has put it as Saul. The movie was great and Franco was definately the highlight for me. It's hard to imagine it the other way around like it was originally planned with Franco as Dale and Seth as Saul.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 I think Franco could have played the Dale role well enough, but Rogen as Saul? That just doesn't work for me at all. I can't see him so much as the hippie pot dealer. He's too much the "regular guy who gets stoned sometimes" type. Here's one part that I found funny as hell: Dale and Red start gearing up for this huge attack on the farm, get all sorts of guns, etc. Red is really fucked up from beatings and being shot twice, which made me wonder how on earth this guy could possibly think about being in a gunfight, haha. So they finally get to the farm and sure enough Red is now like "Fuck this man, I am in desperate need of medical attention, bye." And he leaves Rogen there to fight them all by himself. Of course, eventually Red does come back to save the day and kill the one black dude, then his car inadvertantly kills Rosie Perez as well.

I can't think of the last thing I saw her in, but she hasn't changed much. Last thing i saw her in was "The Take."
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 I enjoyed it. The first half with them just sitting around smoking weed was lame, but it once it became an over the top action spoof it was hilarious. Walk Hard was hilarious, please don't hate on that. Given that Step Brothers, Zohan and Pineapple Express all made piles of money this summer, I don't think Judd is going anywhere. Plus Zohan wasn't really a true Judd movie, he co-wrote it with Sandler and Smigel, and most of the movie looked like Sandler mugging
Mik 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 I love Danny McBride man. I forget the line that caused it but at the end in the diner he closes his eyes and does this lame fist pump thing to one of the comments and I just about lost it. He's hilarious.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 Bob, which version of Walk Hard have you seen? All I've seen is the unedited director's cut DVD which I found really long and draggy. It's kinda like "Dewey is popular, then he has a fall from grace, then he marries another woman, then gets popular, etc." They did the same character arc about 3 times in that version. They could have edited that down a bit.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 I saw the version in theatres, never seen the DVD. I watched Walk the Line the night before I saw Walk Hard, which made everything so much funnier to me.

The GS!YBE reference was one of my favourites, as well! *points to member title*
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I think I laughed a total of 3 times at Walk Hard. And by laugh I mean chuckled. I don't get how people think that movie is funny.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I think I laughed a total of 3 times at Walk Hard. And by laugh I mean chuckled. I don't get how people think that movie is funny. Well comedy is the most subjective artform. Did you see or like Walk the Line? All the songs were hilarious, with the one about midgets and the Bob Dylan song had me dying. And Tim Meadows, as usual, stole the movie.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I loved Walk the Line. I just thought Walk Hard was kinda lazy. He cut his brother in half...and they ran with that joke. bah.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 Great movie! Better than Knocked Up in my book.
Mik 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I liked Walk Hard. Those are some of the best parody songs in any movie.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I loved Walk the Line. I just thought Walk Hard was kinda lazy. He cut his brother in half...and they ran with that joke. bah. That was the one thing I didn't like. I felt they repeated the joke too much, and it just came off as really mean spirited.
Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I loved it. Almost as funny as "Superbad." The Godspeed! You Black Emperor reference cracked me up to no end. Also, the best song on "Walk Hard" is "(Mamma) You Gotta Love Your Negro Man."
Mik 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 The best song in Walk Hard is "(You Make Me So) Hard", the rap remix of Walk Hard. I downloaded it on iTunes and the song is phenomenal.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 Fuck yeah it is, but that's not a remix at all, it's just a rap song that samples it.
Mik 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 Yeah you're right. My mistake.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I liked Walk Hard but it's probably my 2nd least favorite of the Apatow produced films of recent years. It's an odd complaint but it's almost too good of a parody. Like the spoofs of SMiLE era Beach Boys and early Bob Dylan were so spot-on, I sort of forgot that they were supposed to be funny. Like most parody movies (even some of the best), there were also a lot of gags that just flat out didn't work (the aforementioned sawing the brother in half plot was really tiresome). It's a solid *** film but it was a bit of a disapointment to me for me as a fan of biopics and Apatow comedies.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I seperate the Will Ferrell flicks from the other Apatow flicks. He just produces the Ferrell films, while he's more creatively involved in the others. Walk Hard is one of those movies where I did not stop laughing and as Mik said, all the songs were great. I got dirty looks for laughing so hard, and it has such a great cast, brother sawing aside.
