King Kamala Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 I have a feeling these guys may have a couple more hits on the R&B charts. But I only remember them for the greatest song ever recorded about a guy grinding with a girl and getting a boner.

Ravenbomb Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 (Somebody said a bunch of guys, like Masters and Orton, should be the New Radicals.) That would be me, if I remember correctly. Anywho, it's Gin Blossoms:
Zack Malibu Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 This thread is like my music collection in video form. Surprised to see No Mercy on here. A cousin of mine who worked with Stevie B. (anyone into 80's and 90's dance music, perhaps Czech, would know him) also did work with them around the time of their mainstream popularity. Lastly, some contributions/personal favorites from me: http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRh2Cz8vjd4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezvdSDykri0
Guest My Pal, the Tortoise Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 I always thought it was "Hey Chelsea." More Gin Blossoms:
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 I'm sure I've said this before, but New Miserable Experience is a good album. Its only crime is being a little too glossy on the production end. Perfectly respectable Chilton-aping.

I liked that group...brings back some memories. Yeah, I couldn't find a youtube of the song that wasn't destroyed by some Harry Potter fanboy. But, still, can't post Faded without posting Gravity.
CanadianGuitarist Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Did they sing "Ooooooooooooooooooooh, it's kinda crazy?"
King Kamala Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 I liked SoulDecision. They only had one big hit (Faded) and one minor hit (Oooh It's Kind of Crazy) here in the States. I saw them as part of a dreadful radio station concert (Q Holiday Concert '00 if memory serves correctly) where they were one of two decent acts on a bill of eight or nine bands (The other being Sister Hazel, another band worth mentioning in this thread). I think SoulDecision is kind of the missing link between NSync (or any of the boy band of the time) and Maroon 5
Zack Malibu Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 I actually saw them at a similar concert (92 Pro FM Jingle Mingle in December of '00) and they did a great live set. I'll never forget that they covered Bryan Adams' "Summer Of '69" during it, with the reasoning that they went to the same high school as him, so they wanted to do one of his hit songs, and it sounded really good. I kinda wish they'd have had it available on a CD, or at least as a download. I had DL'd most of the tracks from the second album from a few years ago, but wasn't as much of a fan as I was the first album.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 baby listen carefully/while I sing my comeback song
Red Baron Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 I can't believe that this thread didn't have this. Republica: Not Ready To Go
HarleyQuinn Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 ... Fucking embedding. God... I've been on a 90's nostalgia kick thanks to this thread. More late 90's fun. Probably my favorite song of 1997... and I still dig it for whatever reason. Sheryl Crow - If It Makes You Happy Smash Mouth - All Star
LaParkaMarka Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Back in Grade 10, our Math teacher was (I guess) trying to be cool, so he played the Grammy Nominee CD. The very first song: Give Me One Reason. The entire class groaned. That was a pretty decent cd in retrospect, but you can see how the first three songs would just kill a Grade 10 class: 1. 2. 3. (this is a really terrible video) 4. 5. 1979 - The Smashing Pumpkins 6. Stupid Girl - Garbage (I remember Shirley Manson being a lot hotter before) 7. Who Will Save Your Soul - Jewel 8. Spiderwebs - No Doubt 9. 10. My Baby - LeAnn Rimes (Not the original video, some fan made crap for some abc family show. plus the song sucks) 11. Un-Break My Heart - Toni Braxton 12. Get Out Of This House - Shawn Colvin (apparently shawn colvin is a girl, go figure) 13. Reach - Gloria Estefan I really liked Un-Break My Heart. That was a good song. I think I still have Ironic, 1979, Stupid Girl, and Spiderwebs on my mp3 player. Who the heck are The Tony Rich Project?
LaParkaMarka Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 There's nothing Ironic about Ironic. Isn't that, in itself, Ironic?
Guest Beastalentier Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 All of you just shut the fuck up.
Guest Beastalentier Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 I mean, come on, the whole "Ironic" thing is some seriously remedial shit. Everclear. Did we need this band? Could they have been eliminated from the '90s music canon with nobody noticing?
Corey_Lazarus Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Eh, I honestly don't mind Everclear too much. That said, they could easily have never existed and nobody would have cared. I think they're decent at what they do, happy-go-lucky pop with pretty damn depressing sing-along lyrics, but they're not amazing or legendary or anything like that. The video that got me into death metal: Cannibal Corpse - "Devoured by Vermin"
King Kamala Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Everclear. Did we need this band? Could they have been eliminated from the '90s music canon with nobody noticing? I enjoy a couple of their singles but you're kind of right. I don't think I'd be particularly upset if they were erased from history and I'm the biggest fan of mediocre 90s alt rock on this board! Oddly enough, they were my older brother's favorite band for a couple years in the late 90s. He went to a concert (I think it was some third tier package tour like SnoCore or something) with the odd bill of Everclear, Soul Coughing and a pre-Fergie Black Eyed Peas opening up.

BUTT Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 tags don't seem to work anymore, dude. It looks like you have to do all sorts of wacky HTML shit to post video now. Thanks a lot, The McKenzie Group!
BUTT Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Oh screw this. How the FUCK do you embed a video now?
BUTT Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Well, rest assured, I had positive contributions to make to this thread!
