Mik Posted May 10, 2008 Author Report Posted May 10, 2008 Andy Wang is like a samurai. A total warrior. Gameplan? Who the fuck needs a gameplan... time to stand and bang!
Youth N Asia Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 I barely find myself watching this show anymore. I Tivo it and then fast forward through most of it
Hawkius Maximus Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 Personally, I don't really buy the line that the first few seasons of TUF had the best fighters...Overall, yeah, the first season had the most fighters who became anyone...but if you think about it, the last two TUF's in particular have produced two guys who are already ready to walk into title contention. Nate Diaz and Mac Danzig are far stronger overall then anyone we got in those early days. Guys like Leben, Koscheck, Forrest, all had time pass before they were in contention. Rashad Evans still is kind of in the ether of contendership. However, Nate & Mac have already shown off skills and in Nate's case, have a big enough win streak that they could be plunked in contention without a missed beat. Coincidentally, their two of the few guys from each of those seasons that had any developed personality on the show.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Anyone else felt that was a premature stoppage?
Hawkius Maximus Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Two Takedowns > Two Knockdowns. The judging tonight has just established that.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Yeah it should've went to a 3rd round, even Forrest thought it was going to a 3rd round. Schultz' best chance is that he fights Cale, and Yarborough obliges him with a stand-up fight. Cot damn, that was just the opposite Tong!
Youth N Asia Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Two Takedowns > Two Knockdowns. The judging tonight has just established that. I thought the stand up was close. If I was a judge I'd have given it to CY as well
Lei Tong Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Best fight of the season in my eyes. Klein was a bit sloppy with his submission attempts, but he never stopped trying and did as good as anyone on the cast could hope against C.B. My opinions have meant shit so far this season, but on the quarterfinals... - Dante seriously dissapointed me against Sene, while Jesse has done pretty much what he's supposed to thus far. Jesse via unanimous decision seems likely, but considering that he actually got armbarred by Jesse Forbes, a Dante submission doesn't seem improbable. - Both Brown & Sadollah get hit way too much, but it seems like Matt takes a hit slightly better than Amir. On the other hand, Amir looks a bit bigger and stronger, so he could probably control the fight in the clinch or if he decides to opt for a ground fight. Toss up, IMO. - Creduer should learn pretty easily from Luke's mistake, taking Pretty Boy down & subbing him quickly. - C.B. kills Cale however he chooses.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Just wondering Tong, how you view the Jackson/Griffin fight?
Mik Posted May 24, 2008 Author Report Posted May 24, 2008 Just got around to seeing this... I'm not too sure what I think about C.B. talking about himself in the third person all the time.
Lei Tong Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Just wondering Tong, how you view the Jackson/Griffin fight? I don't think he has the power in his hands to challenege Rampage standing, who will also control the realm of the fight with superior wrestling. That being said, if Rampage chooses to try and egage Forrest in a ground game (and assuming Forrest remembers that his jiu jitsu has always been his strongest asset), I could see him using good defense from his guard to open up submission opprotunities. Overall, I'd split the odds something like 70/30 in favor of Jackson.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 I don't care what anyone thinks... I'm enjoying this season of TUF. Sure there isn't all that much TV DRAMA~!, but there have been a couple of very entertaining fights. Amir and Matt Brown was a killer back and forth war.
Damaramu Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 I'm glad Mr. Intense lost. If I had to hear about how tough and mad he is one more time...... I kind of liked it when guys would go home after they lost. I think it allowed us to get to know the fighters that were left a whole lot better. Now they kind of get lost in the shuffle and you have douchebags like Jeremy May who really have nothing left to fight for causing problems and trying to get fighters thrown off the show. Or you have technical street fights...
Dr. Zoidberg Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 I'm sorry, I don't know if I said this yet, but Patrick Schultz or whatever ONLY threw right hands! He was like, "Fuck, I missed. Fuck, I missed. Fuck, I missed. I Got Him! Fuck, I missed. Fuck, I missed." No wonder he went home the first episode. That Amir/Cap'n Intensity fight was way good. No punches held from either, and it was like they were fighting in the finals. At times, it kinda seemed like a schoolyard fight, but whatever, those are entertaining. My new pick is Amir.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 My new pick is Amir. C.B. Dollaway has the wrestling, strength and gas tank to handle Amir. Gerald Harris was easily handling Amir, until he gassed out.
The Niggardly King Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 I was picking Amir when I noticed he was the only fighter being hyped in SPIKE commercials about a month before the show began.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 I'm glad Mr. Intense lost. If I had to hear about how tough and mad he is one more time...... What the fuck are you talking about? When has Matt Brown ever bragged about how "tough" he is? If anything he's being straight up and doesn't take shit from anyone, especially from little punks like Jeremy May. Him and Amir were both all class before their fight and didn't talk shit to anyone. If anything it's the other fighters in the house and the coaches who are talking about how tough Matt Brown is.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 I was picking Amir when I noticed he was the only fighter being hyped in SPIKE commercials about a month before the show began. Actually Gerald Harris was being hyped as well.
RavishingRickRudo Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 Man, the corner commentary during Amir/Brown is tremendous if you listen to it thinking they are yelling advice to a porn actor during a scene. "Head position!" "THAT JUST HAPPENED!" is also bomb. Infact, the whole episode was great. If I could stay up late enough I'd totally watch this season regularly. The hot tub sequence was tops. Oh and slowest triangle choke ever.

Though Matt Brown never talked himself up... everyone else did in the house. It's a silly stupid thing to get into an argument about.

Actually Gerald Harris was being hyped as well. Really? Cause everything I seen was just "GRIFFIN/RAMPAGE!" "THIS YEAR YOU HAVE TO FIGHT YOUR WAY INTO THE HOUSE!" "WILL THE KICKBOXER WITH NO MMA RECORD, AMIR MAKE IT!" "JUST HOW FAR WILL AMIR GO??!!" But I'm glad to hear someone else got some hype, because SPIKE has never gone out of their way like that just to hype someone in commercials like that.
Hawkius Maximus Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Coincidentally, Amir is one of the few people on the show who might end up doing something. For having no pro fights, guy is good. Him and Dollaway might end up going somewhere. Everyone else is fucked.

Him and Dollaway might end up going somewhere. Everyone else is fucked. Gerald Harris has alot of upside... Good wrestling background, good hands, and good submission defense. Jesse Taylor has potential aswell, even though that loss to Jesse Forbes is pretty embarassing. Matt Brown is going down to 170 and fighting Matt Arroyo on the finale...

Did I say he said he was tough? I think your last sentence pretty much hit what I was saying.
Angel_Grace_Blue Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I think I know how they could have made this season better: Put posters of Anderson Silva looming down at the contestants everywhere. The gym, the house, the vans, every square inch covered with Silva, either with the Grim Reaper/Throne picture I think YnA had as a sig for a while, or maybe an Uncle Sam-inspired deal with the Portuguese for "I Want YOU To Eat My Knees!" or something similar. Please note that I'm not saying the winner should get an instant title shot. This is merely for entertainment purposes, and as such, is incredibly stupid. You may now continue with super-cereal discussion.
Damaramu Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 I think that would be fine. Then they could have a message under the pictures that says "Try and try again, but you'll probably never beat this man. You'd better hope someone else wins the title on a fluke, because then maybe you'd have a chance." Or simply "No matter how hard you train this guy will still embarass you."

I don't know what your problem is, I think you're just a hater.

I don't know what your problem is, I think you're just a hater. It could be the fact that I just don't think any of these guys are really good. I didn't like when I saw Matt Brown walking around the house looking all angry trying to look tough and then everyone else started talking him up. Mainly because I was like "Yeah he's tough compared to me or these yahoos on the show, but in the UFC he'd probably get stomped by most of the MW's." I guess I just don't buy any of these guys on the show or any shit they talk because I think they'd get beaten down in a real UFC fight with someone with a real fight record. And why is being a hater such a bad thing? I hate, so what? It's thereapeutic to hate.
