OF- Chris Duncan

RP- Rafael Soriano

RP- CJ Wilson

P- Kelvim Escobar

Always nice when a pitcher as good as John Smoltz is only the third best pitcher on my team. Pitching carried me to the finals last year, hopefully it can do it again.

I saw that Smoltz was your 3rd best starter when I was entering all the picks last night.

I muttered holy shit to myself.

I was also really impressed with Will Scarlett's team.

Stephen should just suck it up and take Barry Bonds.

At this point, sure, I'll take that gamble. NOT.

Sorry about all this, but it is kinda difficult for me to see the screen and type given the meds im on.

I am pretty shocked that Brandon Wood lasted until the 19th round given that prospects were getting eaten up like candy.

And I guess since everyone is doing it:

C: Carlos Ruiz

1B: Lance Berkman

2B: Robinson Cano

SS: Miguel Tejada

3B: Mike Lowell

OF: Vladdy

OF: Pat Burrell

OF: the healthy side of Moilton Bradlou (Bradley for now)

Util: Thome

B: the DL side of Moilton Bradlou (alou for now)

B: Josh Fields

SP: Francisco Liriano

SP: Yovani Gallardo

SP: Matt Garza

RP: Joba Chamberlain

RP: Carlos Marmol

P: Gil Meche

P: Hiroki Kuroda

B: Pat Neshek

B: Ervin Santana

Punted saves and steals, but the saves don't bother me as the holds will make up for it (given the IP requirements I can't see having solid stats in both categories).

Alright, looks like cheech's time to pick has passed so I just want to finish up my team here...

boZjhOF9.jpg

Bobby Crosby, SS for some depth and a potential sleeper pick if he stays healthy.

And that's it! I don't think I had too bad of a first draft, particularly for someone just getting back into baseball. Only two guys that I had targeted that I missed were Gio Gonzalez and Nick Swisher. Pissed me off, but ah well. Looooots of young guys and some tested vets. This team can either fly or sink. Here are is my 2008 Portland Wet Sox Opening Day Roster:

C-Kenji Johjima

1B-Albert Pujols

2B-Dustin Pedroia

3B-Ian Stewart/Brandon Wood (Looks like Stewart right now, but Wood might get called up later this year.. and believe me, pinjockey, I was shocked too which is why I had to take him)

SS-Jhonny Peralta/Bobby Crosby (It's a fight for the starting job, which is still up in the air.. Peralta is reliable, but Crosby could be a potential stud, again, if he stays healthy..)

OF-Manny Ramirez

OF-Jacoby Ellsbury

OF-Corey Patterson

Util-Todd Helton, 1B

SP-Chad Billingsley

SP-Jon Lester

SP-Ian Kennedy

SP-Chris Carpenter (ready in July possibly)

SP-Josh Johnson (also possibly ready in July at best)

RP-Billingsley

RP-Henry Owens

RP-Masa Kobayashi

RP-Russ Springer

Sorry guys. Bartolo Colon isn't in the player pool. Cheech will have to pick someone else. Everything has been entered and ready to go since Sunday night. All I need is that last player from Cheech and then we'll be good to go.

Alright everything is ready to go. I finalized the draft and made everything official.

Remember its weekly roster changes so you have to go to Monday, March 24th to edit your roster for next week.

If Jason Schmidt comes back and pitches at the level he has in the past, I have a great chance of winning the title. If he pitches like a #4 starter, I'll make the playoffs. If he sucks, I'm fucked. And I'll have to trade Ryan Garko for a pitcher. Don't want that.

I already know I have the best hitting in the league. Verbally fellate my hitters, because the last few seasons where I had Vlad and Hafner to add to those guys, it didn't mean a thing.

I'm not that excited with my team, but I think there's a decent framework to be competitive this year and have a chance one year from now.

Yes, I'm building towards the future in a fantasy baseball league.

You must have missed The Layden Express.

Sure, but you've pretty much just punted pitching as a whole.

Ok, you do have the best hitting in the league. I'll settle for second, knowing that I have better pitching.

I'm hoping my first few waiver wire moves will have a positive impact for my pitching staff after configuring a few numbers and surmising the overall results.

Assuming the moves go through.
