Box Office Report 1/25-1/27

Recommended Posts

What kind of budget did Juno have? It's doing some insane box office numbers. I'm sad to see Cloverfield drop to #4. I guess after the hype died down, everyone who wanted to see it, has seen it by now. I have to echo the above sentiments though, with WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH AMERICA? Date Movie and Epic Movie were TURDS, and Meet the Spartans doesn't look much better (though I haven't actually watched the MTS yet, but did see the first 2).

What the fuck is wrong with people.

Does this really need to be said every time a stupid movie does well? Must a movie be GREAT for people to want to see it?

Yes. I mean potential greatness is subjective but why would I pay $5 to see a movie that I didn't think at the potential to be at least decent. Sure sometimes I've gone to the movies just for the sake of going to the movies but not since I was 12. I'm not a movie snob by any means but the fact of the matter is Meet The Spartans looks like pure unadulterated dogshit.

There Will Be Blood needs to expand to more screens. Daniel Day-Lewis rules in that movie and he should at least win best actor for it, maybe the film will win best picture.

I need to see Rambo next weekend. Right now on imdb.com it is getting 8.5, which is pretty insane.

I had never heard of Untraceable (and still know nothing about it) and How She Move (Canadian street dance movie as best I can tell)

You know next weekends #1 is going to be worse than Meet the Spartans, the only redeeming thing is it wont be an actual movie but still..

What is this in reference to? Strange Wilderness? How can a movie not be an actual move?

They're charging $15 for tickets at some theatres, which will help. And it's only playing for a week, so demand will be huge

Neither Over Her Dead Body or Strange Wilderness are opening on 2,000 screens. I don't see The Eye doing great business, and Meet the Spartans will have a huge dropoff.

Outside numbers 6 and 7, that's the worst Top 12 I have ever seen.

...Um, There Will Be Blood at #8?

You consider The Bucket List good? And I'm too lazy to look it up but I'm sure there are Top 12s from past late Januarys and early Septembers as bad if not worse than this.
