I've been wanting to see that.

Speaking of French horror, I'm looking forward to "Inside" and "Frontier(s)."

I saw this one horror flick last year on dvd, not sure if it was french or not but it was definately european. It was about this guy that gets lost trying to take a shortcut through the woods in his car and he stumbles on an older odd couple. The flick got weirder as it went and the ending was downright bizarre, I mean just when you thought there was hope....lol. Anyways I can't for the life of me remember the name of it but it is worth checking out. I could talk more in depth if anyone is interested but I would have to use spoiler tags as I wouldn't want to give away too much of the plot/twist.

Seen this, been out a while on DVD in the UK.

Nice little movie. Basically a woman being terrorised in a house by some unseen protagonist(s). Can't really say too much about it without spoiling anything but plenty of tension. No gore to speak of, more suspense. Very European (like Haute Tension type cinema).

Definately check it out, I wouldnt imagine you'd be disappointed (unless you were wanting blood and gore).

Was the guy a cabaret singer? If so, then the movie you saw was "Calvaire."

Yep that's it, thanks.

No problem.

That movie is a quite the mind fuck. A weird dance sequence that comes out of nowhere, anal rape, bestiality, crucifixion, very black humor, forced gender-bending, torture, and more.

Wait. What? Haute Tension was loaded with gory violence.

While it did have plenty of gory violence (and a shitty finale), Haute Tension mainly worked because it knew how to ratchet up suspense and tension. Or at least that's what I think.

Yep, that's more what I meant, the suspense in the two movies is very similar.

I've also gone back and rewatched Haute Tension (or Switchblade Romance as it's called here) and I'd totally forgotten how much carnage there was in it. Agreed on the shitty (and obvious) ending but otherwise a good movie.

Anyway, check out Them!

I thought for a minute, that this topic was about some Frenchmen working on a remake of the giant-ant classic "Them".

I was taken by surprise with High Tension's ending the first time I saw the movie, and had to go back and watch it again to get all the clues. Has the blonde from that movie been in anything else? She was all sorts of hot.

Is the movie coming out in May "The Strangers" a remake of this?

No.
