Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 Anyone know how you go about getting the All-Star game for the Show in Dynasty mode? I'm having a ton of fun with this game, really like the pitching and batting controls. I just have the computer run the bases because I never have figured that out and I like to still have a bit of a "simulated" feel to the games where the coaches I hire are still running some of the things in the game. I also like the depth of the Dynasty mode in setting the giveaway days. It's also fun to see the nasty comments I got from Ken Griffey Jr. and Ryan Freel about making my team go to games on a beat-up bus.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 So I just started a Nationals sim franchise with a fantasy draft in The Show. Check out the team I came away with. Every player is either rated A or B, and every regular's potential rating is A. 2008 Season: C Jarrod Saltalamacchia 1B Joey Votto 2B Asdrubal Cabrera 3B Chone Figgins SS Troy Tulowitski LF Ryan Braun CF Chris Young RF Cameron Maybin Rotation: Scott Kazmir Joba Chamberlain Yvonni Gallardo Phil Hughes Jarr Jurjjens Homer Bailey (AAA) Manny Corpas (Closer) I made the Wild Card with 86 wins but lost to the eventual world champion Reds in the NLDS. I made some changes based on a ton of guys being free agents in the off season. I moved Braun from the outfield to third, let Figgins and Young leave, and signed Hunter Pence for way less than what Young was asking for. The OF is shifted around a bit. It also cost some big bucks to retain Kazmir, Gallardo, and Jurjjens, but I kept my rotation in tact. 2009: C Saltalamacchia 1B Votto 2B Cabrera 3B Braun (Re-signed) SS Tulowitski (Re-signed) LF Anderson CF Maybin (Re-signed) RF Pence (Signed FA) We look forward to dominating Major League Baseball for the next decade or so. TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 In 2009, I finished 1 game better than the year before but didn't make the postseason. In the 2009 off-season, I signed Albert Pujols to a huge deal. 5 years for $90 million. In 2010, I finished at 81-81. My AA team, however, won the Eastern League Championship. After 2010, a ton of my guys started wanting their big paydays and I had to let a bunch of them walk. Braun, Tulowitski, Saltalamacchia, and Hughes are all gone. I re-signed Jurjjens to a 10 year contract in order to keep his cost down and lock up at least one of my young studs while he was still cheap. Most-all of the young upcoming stars are getting enormous deals around the league.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 I just noticed something that should have been included in the game. While playing a franchise mode game at Wrigley Field as the Reds on HOF mode, I was slaughtering the Cubs 18-0 entering the 8th inning and the stadium was still packed. It figures that if you were destorying the home team by that much the stands would be virtually EMPTY by the time the game was over.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2008 I've been messing around with last year's incarnation of The Show the past two or three weeks in an attempt to finish my first franchise season in a baseball game since MVP '04. I had to finally give the guess pitch feature a rest once I realized four or five of my hitters were batting .400+ in late May and Aramis Ramirez is on pace to hit 120 homers and knock in 330 RBI. I allow myself the guess pitch feature once per at-bat, if that. Though this is akin to discussing fantasy sports, I'd like to share a couple tidbits from today's "action": - I was up on the Brewers 6-2 in the 8th. I'll fast-forward sometimes for various reasons. I figured with a four-run lead, I was safe to fast forward at that point. Big mistake. I skipped to the next inning, expecting to see the final and player of the game. Instead, I have Mark god damn Prior coming up to bat in a game that's now 10-6. Though I was only on my first relief pitcher in the 8th, the Brewers had managed to wipe out my entire pen while plating eight runs in the 9th. - In a game against the Nats, I had two with no outs and a 2-0 count on Ronny Cedeno. I popped up the third pitch and tossed my controller to the side in frustration. In a lesson of "don't abuse your controller," the toss sent my runners in motion, resulting in a triple play. Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2008 I'm playing every game in my franchise so far and am enjoying it as the Reds. I'm 17-5 after having some pretty fun, close games with the Astros and the Cubs. I also had some problems with players stats getting too high so I upgraded to Hall of Fame difficulty after about 10 games into the season. Still having some trouble with the financial aspect so I'm letting the CPU handle the facilities aspect while I take care of the games, scouting, etc. Makes it easier that way. I've also got some decent prospects I called up such as a first baseman named Eddie Contrell who is .424 with 3 HR's and 6 RBI in about 6 games after getting called up. It's hard when trying to balance out the roster because Votto is doing well and when he's fresh he plays first but Contrell's fielding stats allow me to place him in RF or LF when Dunn or Griffey get tired (which is a lot in Griffey's case). The most memorable series I had so far was early in the season against the Phillies. In three of the four games I was trailing entering the 9th and in all three games Jeff Keppinger was the difference. In the first game, when I was down 5-4 with runners on the corners, he hit a double along the first base line and when a AAA callup from the Phillies attempted to throw the ball in to the infield they threw it into the crowd so I won. In the second game, I was down 10-4 entering the bottom of the ninth and I reeled off 7 runs, capped off by a Jeff Keppinger three run blast to win the game. Then in the final game of the four game series I was down 3-2 before Keppinger came up in a pinch hitting situation with the game tied 3-3 with runners at first and second and drove a single into center-left to score Alex Gonzalez and I won the game. Keppinger is my go-to guy in the clutch because he always comes up big EXCEPT in the field because he sucks at SS so he doesn't play too often.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2008 I just picked up 2K8 the other day for my 360. I played part of an exibition and figured I had the new controls down. I just got Live hooked up, so I tried to do an online match-up. For some reason, I could not bat. Everytime I tried to bat, the bat would not swing. I tried seeing if maybe the person I was playing was using a different control scheme but it wasn't any of the ones in the manual. Was this a one time glitch or did I do something wrong? Has anyone heard of anything like this?
